Definitions

  • the invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp for use in motor vehicle headlights in accordance with the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such a high-pressure discharge lamp is known from GB-A 2 132 011, the base being made in one piece and the holding element being formed by the power supply line carrying the shielding agent.
  • the anti-glare agent can e.g. be designed as a ceramic screen.
  • US Pat. No. 4,412,273 describes a halogen incandescent lamp for motor vehicle headlights. The halogen incandescent lamp is fastened adjustable in a base sleeve via a holder.
  • two-filament light bulbs are frequently used in the high-beam and low-beam headlamps used in many motor vehicles, the light-emitting element provided for the low-beam light being partially shielded by a dimming cap arranged in the lamp bulb.
  • Pure low-beam headlights for the use of single-filament light bulbs have a shielding means which is arranged outside the lamps and is arranged on the reflector of the headlight or the lamp holder.
  • the invention has for its object a high-pressure discharge lamp for use in motor vehicle headlights to create, which has a shielding agent located outside the lamp bulb.
  • the lamp bulb and the shielding means should form a structural unit that is as simple as possible in terms of construction, and which, using appropriate materials, permits the use of very high surge voltages, as are required in particular in the hot ignition of high-pressure discharge lamps.
  • Shielding means and holding element can consist in one piece of a plastic part; For reasons of temperature resistance, freedom from outgassing and high-voltage insulation, however, when using high-pressure discharge lamps as the light source (s) for motor vehicle headlights, it is advantageous to produce the dimming agent from ceramic.
  • the shielding means has a plate formed on one of its end faces, which is placed on plastic pins which are formed on the fastening body of the holding element and is connected, for example by ultrasonic riveting, to the fastening body of the holding element.
  • the anti-dazzle agent itself consists of a web with a groove, the concave curvature of which faces the lamp bulb.
  • the axis of curvature of the channel generally coincides with the longitudinal axis of the lamp and the curvature itself encloses an angle ⁇ of less than 180 °.
  • the curvature encloses the angle ⁇ of 165 °.
  • This holding element 5 has a slightly barrel-shaped, curved fastening body 6 made of plastic, which is surrounded at its thickest point by a ring 7 made of ferromagnetic material, which is sunk in a groove.
  • the holding element 5 is inserted with its barrel-shaped fastening body 6 into a cylindrical recess in the base sleeve 4 (also made of plastic) and, due to the shape of the fastening body 6, can be moved in a certain range in all directions with respect to the base sleeve 4. Only after the lamp bulb 1 has been adjusted are the holding element 5 and the base sleeve 4 connected by high-frequency heating, the plastic being melted in the region of the metal ring 7.
  • the barrel-shaped fastening body 6 of the holding element 5 are facing the lamp bulb 1 on it Shaped side pin 8, on which a plate 9 provided with corresponding openings is placed and riveted.
  • the plate 9 has a further opening 10 through which one of the power supply lines 2 of the lamp bulb 1 is guided and fastened.
  • a web 11 made of insulating material is formed on the plate 9 and extends parallel to the lamp axis AA. Because of the high operating temperature that arises at the lamp bulb 1, the plate 9 and the web 11 are advantageously made of ceramic.
  • the web 11 carries at its free end a contact element 12 to which the second power supply 3 of the lamp bulb 1 is attached.
  • connection 18 between this second power supply 3 of the lamp bulb 1 and the base contact 13 is arranged on the side of the web 11 facing away from the lamp bulb 1, recessed therein.
  • the lamp bulb 1 can be surrounded by a heating winding 17 for accelerating the start-up of the lamp, the connecting wires of which are also guided along the side of the web 11 facing away from the lamp bulb 1.
  • the web 11 has a groove, the concave groove 14 facing the lamp bulb 1. This web 11 acts as a dimming means to fulfill the asymmetrical light distribution required for road traffic.
  • the angle ⁇ , which is enclosed by the channel arch 14, is 165 ° in this exemplary embodiment.
  • the base of the lamp consists of the holding element 5 carrying the lamp bulb 1, a base sleeve 4 with an integrally formed adjusting ring 15, base contacts 13 and a cover element 16.
  • the holding element 5 with its barrel-shaped fastening body 6 is in the cylindrical recess of the base sleeve 4 used, both parts 4, 6 interacting like a ball joint and then firmly connected by high-frequency heating.
  • the base of the base sleeve 4 has bores whose diameter is slightly larger than that of the power supply 2 to be passed through or connecting wires 18 between the power supply 3 or heating wire 17 and base contacts 13.
  • the base contacts 13 are anchored in the back of the base base and the connection points between the power supply 2, heating wire 17, connecting wires 18 and base contacts 13 are also on this side.
  • the back of the base base is provided with a cover element 16.
  • Figure 2 shows the lamp in plan view.
