Definitions

  • the invention relates to a new composition for revealing color photographs.
  • developer reducing organic bodies are used, generally cyclic, having at least two phenol groups (diphenol), or two amine groups (diamine) or these two groups (aminophenol).
  • diphenol phenol groups
  • diamine amine groups
  • aminophenol aminophenol
  • CD chromogenic developer
  • EP 2 in which the developer is of the CD 3 type, for example a compound chosen from the group consisting of 4-amino-N-ethyl-N- ( ⁇ methylsulfonamidoethyl) -m-toluidine sesquisulfate monohydrate, the phosphate of the same compound, N-ethvI-N- ( ⁇ methylsulfonamidoethyl) -p-methyl-1-4- phenylene-diamine sesquisulfonate monohydrate or N-ethyl-N ( ⁇ methylsulfonamidoethyl) - p-toluenediamine.
  • This composition gives excellent results under current conditions of use and productivity for traditional development on paper.
  • CD 4 used for the development, no longer of exposed paper, but for that of photographic films, themselves also in color.
  • CD 4 compounds give excellent results for the development of color photographic films.
  • these CD 4 products generally lead to results at better comparable to those obtained with CD 3 type developers. In short, these compounds are also limited in speed.
  • the invention overcomes these drawbacks. It concerns a developer for the development of color photographs on paper which enables the processing time to be reduced by almost half and is therefore compatible with the technical performance of the most modern automatic development equipment without, however, the other qualities. essential photographs, such as contrast, chromatic balance, haze are not affected significantly.
  • the proportion of the second developer is less than 185 grams, in addition to the already unacceptable chromatic imbalance, it will be necessary to compensate by an increase in the duration of the treatment, which goes against the desired objective; moreover, if the CD4 proportion is greater than 225 grams, the yellow shade will increase, which will cause a disruption of the chromatic balance; in addition, the whites will be veiled, which will then require the addition of anti-veils, therefore increasing the price of the composition.
  • the development is carried out at a temperature between 37 and 40 ° C.
  • Example 3 corresponds to the invention.
  • the mixing of the various components is carried out in a known manner, gradually and under usual conditions, in order to ensure perfect miscibility of the various constituents and to attenuate the toxic effects of some of them.
  • This composition is used to develop an impressed witness color paper.
  • the procedure is carried out at 40 ° C. After at least one hundred seconds of treatment, a good chromatic balance, good density and good development are obtained.
  • Example 1 is repeated, replacing the CD 3 developer with a CD 4 type developer of general formula: 4-amino-3-methyl-N- ( ⁇ hydroxyethyl) -aniline sulfate also marketed by Hunt Chemicals for the development of negative films .
  • Example 1 is repeated by adding to the composition, at room temperature, one hundred and eighty five (185) grams of the same CD 4 developer as in Example 2.
  • the duration of the treatment is reduced from a hundred seconds to only fifty seconds, while retaining an excellent chromatic balance, good density and good contrast.
  • Example 3 is repeated, no longer adding 185 g but one hundred and seventy (170) grams of the same compound CD 4 . After development and drying, a poor chromatic balance is obtained, with the blue-sensitive layer falling, which results in a crippling underdevelopment.
  • Example 3 is repeated, but using not 185 g of this CD 4 , but two hundred and thirty (230) grams of this compound. We also obtain a chromatic imbalance resulting from the rise of the blue color, which results in an overdevelopment also unacceptable.
