Definitions
- the invention relates to a supercharger for multi-cylinder four-stroke internal combustion engines, which pre-compresses the air required for combustion and supplies the cylinder inlet of a cylinder for further compression, with a rotary piston rotating eccentrically in a cylindrical bore of a housing with a radially movable seal between a suction chamber and a pressure chamber.
- a known charger of this type (DE-C-473 434) serves as an auxiliary flushing pump of a single-cylinder two-stroke engine.
- the radial seal is formed by a control flap that swings around a pivot point outside the rotary piston. None can be found in the publication for lateral sealing.
- a supercharger for multi-cylinder internal combustion engines with a rotary piston rotating about a fixed axis is already known, which has radial slats, vanes or the like in radial slots, which, in all operating states, bear sealingly against the cylindrical inner wall of a housing arranged eccentrically to the rotary piston and separate the suction and pressure chamber formed between this cylindrical inner wall and the piston circumference of the rotary piston.
- One rotary lobe cannot easily supply the combustion chambers of the various cylinders with charge air of the same pressure, and the seal is structurally complex (CH-A-132692).
- a power or steam engine with a rotor rotating in a cylindrical bore of a housing, which comprises two eccentrically arranged rotary pistons, each of which is sealed at both ends of its axial longitudinal extent by sealing washers on the rotor from the cylindrical bore and which is radial movable seal of each rotary piston is formed by a slide which is guided and sealed by a sealing slot in a slide guide arranged outside the cylindrical housing (DE-C-125165).
- a common rotor is known for all cylinders, which rotates in a rotatable sleeve, which supplies compressed air to one of several cylinders via circumferential and axially offset openings (GB-A-403425).
- turbochargers are widely used today to increase the pressure in the intake air of internal combustion engines required for combustion.
- the invention has for its object to provide a charger of the type mentioned, which is simple in construction, is particularly suitable for use in multi-cylinder engines and avoids the disadvantages of conventional turbochargers.
- each cylinder is assigned a rotary piston, that each rotary piston is part of a common rotor rotating concentrically in the cylindrical bore of the housing, that each rotary piston on the two Ends of its axial longitudinal extent is sealed by sealing washers on the rotor relative to the cylindrical bore, that the radially movable seal of each rotary piston is formed by a slide which is guided and sealed through a sealing slot in an intermediate plate arranged outside the housing and common to all rotary pistons, and that the rotor is driven at half the crankshaft speed.
- Half the crankshaft speed is preferably driven from the camshaft.
- the rotor extends parallel to the row of cylinders and that the eccentric part of each rotary piston has an axial length which is reduced by the thickness of the sealing washer in relation to the cylinder distance in the row of cylinders.
- the slide is expediently pressed in a known manner (DE-C-125165) by the force of a spring against the rotary piston, each spring being accommodated in a spring cup associated with each rotary piston.
- the slide is preferably guided displaceably in a slide housing on roller bearings in order to keep the friction losses small.
- each sealing disk preferably interacts with the wall of the bore without contact via a conventional labyrinth seal in order to create a seal with the adjacent rotary piston.
- the labyrinth seal is sufficient in terms of the sealing function and, in contrast to a sliding sealing ring, is practically wear and friction free.
- each rotary lobe against the Cylindrical bore of the housing and the slide is carried out, for example, by sealing strips, as are known per se in rotary piston machines (US-A-35 95 210).
- the sealing of each rotary piston with respect to the cylindrical bore of the housing and the slide can, however, also take place by at least partially coating with a sliding material in each case in one of the surfaces in sealing contact.
- the sealing is comparatively unproblematic because the pressures to be sealed are low (in the order of magnitude up to 3 bar) in comparison with the pressures generated when the reciprocating pistons of the internal combustion engine are compressed.
- a small pressure equalization over the seals can be tolerated, which is why the seal designs described as a labyrinth seal and / or by coating at the sealing points with sliding material is also practical.
- the dimensions of the pressure chamber between the or each rotary piston and the wall of the bore is advantageously chosen such that a volume ratio of the pressure chamber volume to the stroke volume of a reciprocating piston corresponding to the desired ratio of boost pressure to atmospheric pressure (e.g. 2: 1) Internal combustion engine results.
- the charger according to the invention is advantageously used in conjunction with an injection system that directly or indirectly injects the fuel in order to achieve minimal consumption and minimal amounts of pollutants in the exhaust gases.
- the supercharger according to the invention has the particular advantage that it is structurally considerably simpler with regard to the construction, assembly and interchangeability of the slider and, above all, can be used for multi-cylinder internal combustion engines without considerable additional outlay.
- the reference numeral 1 designates an internal combustion engine having a cylinder 2, a cylinder head 3 with cylinder inlet 4 and inlet valve 5, combustion chamber 6, piston 7, connecting rod 8 and crankshaft 9.
- the internal combustion engine shown is a four-cylinder in-line engine that works in the four-stroke process.
- a charger is arranged to the side of the cylinder block.
- This charger comprises a horizontal housing 11 with a cylindrical inner bore 12, in which a cylindrical rotor 13 with the number of cylinders corresponding number of four rotary pistons 14 can be rotated in a row.
- the rotor 14 is supported at both ends by means of shaft journals 15 in bearings 16 and can be driven via a pinion 17 from the crankshaft 9 or the camshaft, preferably via a plastic toothed belt at half the crankshaft speed (FIGS. 2, 3).
- the individual rotary pistons 14 have the same eccentricity e with respect to the axis 18 of the rotor 13, but their eccentricity e is offset by 90 ° to the next rotary piston 14.
- Each rotary piston is by a slide 19 with at its free end, axially extending over the length of the rotary piston sealing strip 20 in the region between a gas inlet 21 and a gas outlet 22 of the housing 11 and by an axial sealing point z.
- sealing disks 34 each of which cooperates in a sealing manner with the inner bore 12 on its circumference via a conventional labyrinth bore 35 that works without contact.
- a Teflon coating of the circumferences of the sealing disks or of the interior, with the circumference of the rotary piston 14 in question, slide 19 can also be provided.
- each slide 19 can also be pressed against the circumference of each rotary piston 14 instead of by means of a spring with hydraulic or pneumatic pressure force.
- an air filter 37 is shown connected to the suction inlet 21 via a nozzle 36. Furthermore, a connection piece is shown at 38, which connects the pressure outlet 22 of the charger to the cylinder inlet 4.
- the associated rotary piston 14 of the supercharger 10 is approximately in the rotational position according to FIG. 6. Air is sucked into the suction chamber 23 via the suction inlet 6. As the rotation progresses in the direction of the arrow, the rotary piston sweeps over the suction inlet with the circumferential point of greatest eccentricity at 25. The suction phase is then complete and the compression phase begins, the rotary piston compressing the air against the slide 19 with the inlet valve closed as the rotation progresses (FIG. 7). During this compression phase, the working and the exhaust stroke of the piston 7 take place with the inlet valve 5 still closed. The inlet valve opens approximately in the position of the rotary piston 14 according to FIG. 9. The compressed air is then inserted into the combustion chamber 6 of the cylinder 2 on account of its upper pressure and the further rotary movement of the rotary piston 14.
- the supercharger according to the invention can also be used in an internal combustion engine operating in the two-stroke process. His rotor would then have to run at the same speed as the associated crankshaft.
- FIGS. 10 to 12 show an alternative for the slide guide. Accordingly, in these figures, the housing 11 with the rotor 13 is not shown, but instead of the spring head 31, a slide housing 40 to be fastened to the housing 11 and the components accommodated therein. Components with the same function are designated with the same reference numerals as in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 9.
- a slide 19 is movably guided in a slot 41 in the slide housing 40 in the direction of the double arrow F (FIG. 12), specifically on a total of eight ball bearings 42 to 45 on one slide side and 46 to 49 on the other slide side. All ball bearings are accommodated in recesses in the slide housing 40, one of which is designated 51 in FIGS. 10 and 12, and are held on pins 52 which are pressed into bores (not designated) in the slide housing 40.
- the ball bearings have rolling contact with the sliding sides, e.g. B. the ball bearing 43 at 53 (Fig. 10) or the ball bearing 45 at 55 (Fig. 11).
- the slot 41 is longitudinally penetrated in its center by a cylindrical recess 56 which receives a helical compression spring 57. With its upper end, the helical compression spring is supported by a top wall 58 of the slide housing 40 and with its lower end on a spring plate 59 which is seated in a rectangular recess 60 of the slide 19.
- the slide 19 with its sealing end protruding from the slide housing 49 penetrates a sealing slot in an intermediate plate 27 of the housing and seals the associated eccentric part of the rotary piston in question in the same way as with reference to FIGS 9 described. Otherwise, the structure and function are the same as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 9.

Description
- Figur 1 einen Querschnitt durch eine Brennkraftmaschine mit vier in Reihe angeordneten Zylindern mit angebautem Lader gemäß der Erfindung ;
- Figur 2 eine perspektivische Ansicht des Laders ;
- Figur 3 eine perspektivische Ansicht eines Läufers des Laders nach Fig. 2 ;
- Figur 4 einen Schnitt durch den Lader wie in Fig. 1, wo bei 1 weitere Einzelheiten sichtbar werden, ein in Fig. 1 gezeichneter Luftfilter jedoch weggelassen ist ;
- Figur 5 einen Schnitt nach der Linie V-V in Fig. 4 ;
- Figuren 6-9 in einer vereinfachten Darstellung wie in Fig. 4 unterschiedliche Drehstellungen des Läufers ;
