2. Verbindungen nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Salz ein Natrium- oder Zinksalz ist.
3. Verwendung der Verbindungen nach Anspruch 1 und 2 als Zusatzstoffe für Schmieröle.
Die Erfindung betrifft neue Dithiophosphorsäureester und deren Salze sowie ihre Verwendung als Zusatzstoffe
für Schmieröle.
Schmierölen werden bekanntlich Zusatzstoffe zugesetzt, um ihr Lastaufnahmevermögen zu verbessern, z. B.
Hochdruckzusätze und/oder verschleißverhindernde Mittel.
Für diesen Zweck geeignete Verbindungen sind Metallsalze von in Stellung O,O' mit Kohlenwasserstoffresten
disubstituierten Dithiophosphorsäuren, z. B. die Zinksalze, die als Zusätze zur Verbesserung des Lastaufnahmevermögens
für Schmieröle bekannt sind. Diese Salze weisen die nachstehende allgemeine Formel 1 auf:

in der die Reste R gleich oder verschieden sind und gegebenenfalls substituierte Kohlenwasserstoffreste
bedeuten, M ein Metall und η die Wertigkeit dieses Metalls ist.
Es wurden verschiedene Zusatzstoffe dieses Typs vorgeschlagen, z. B. Verbindungen, in denen die Reste R
gleich oder verschieden sind und Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Alkylcycloalkyl-, Aryl-, Alkylaryl- und Arylalkylreste
bedeuten (vgl. US-PS 24 10 642 und 25 40 084 sowie GB-PS 7 23 133 und 8 52 365). Von diesen Verbindungen
sind insbesondere zwei Arten als Handelsprodukt erhältlich, nämlich die Zinksalze von Ο,Ο'-Dialkyl und
O,O'-Di-(alkylaryl)-dithiophosphorsäuren. Spezielle Beispiele sind die Zinksalze von O,O'-Di-(2-äthylhexyl)-
und O^'-DHp-CyCu-alkylphenylJ-dithiophosphorsäuren. Im allgemeinen verursachen diese bekannten Salze
jedoch entweder einen unangebrachten Nockenverschleiß oder sie verleihen zu wenig Schutz gegen Pittingbildung
und/oder sie sind nicht genügend thermisch stabil.
Überraschenderweise wurde nun festgestellt, daß das betreffende technische Problem durch eine neue Klasse
von Zusatzstoffen gelöst werden kann, die sich zumindest teilweise von einem strukturspezifischen sekundären
Alkohol mit zweijö-quartären Kohlenstoffatomen ableitet. Es handelt sich dabei um den Alkohol 1,5-Dimethylbicyclo[3,2,l)octan-8-ol,
der eine Struktureinheit gemäß Formol II

aufweist, bei der das die OH-Gruppe tragende Ringkohlenstoffatom von zwei^S-Kohlenstoffatomen, das heißt
quartären Kohlenstoffatomen (keiner der Substituenten an denjff-Kohlenstoffatomen ist ein Wasserstoffatom)
flankiert ist. Durch diese Strukturspezifizität wird eine besonders gute thermische Stabilität der betreffenden
Verbindungen gewährleistet.

Ci_|2-Alkylrest, ein Phenylrest, ein Benzylrest, ein Cs-is-Alkylphenylrest oder ein Cycloalkylrest ist.

Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen unterscheiden sich von den in der US-PS 25 40 084 beschriebenen
Dithiophosphorsäureestern insbesondere dadurch, daß die in dieser Literaturstelle offenbarten alkylierten
cycloaliphatische!! Alkohole, welche zur Veresterung eingesetzt werden, wie z. B. Methylcyclohexanol, kein is
Strukturelement der Formel II enthalten.
Als Salze geeignet sind monovalente Metallsalze, wie von Metallen der Gruppe I des Periodensystems, insbesondere
Alkalimetallsalze, wie Natrium- oder Kaliumsalze, oder vorzugsweise polyvalente Metallsalze, wie von
Metallen der Gruppe II des Periodensystems, z. B. Magnesium-, Calcium-, Barium-, Zink- oder Quecksilbersalze.
Man kann jedoch auch andere Metallsalze verwenden, z. B. Salze von Aluminium, Zinn, Blei, Chrom,
Mangan, Eisen, Kobalt und Nickel.
Bevorzugte erfindungsgemäße Verbindungen sind die Zinksalze der Formel IV

in der R, und R2 wie in Formel III definiert sind.
Für R2 geeignete Kohlenwasserstoffreste können substituiert sein, z. B. mit Chloratomen, Hydroxyl- oder
Äthergruppen. Vorzugsweise bedeutet R2 einen aliphatischen Rest, wie einen Alkylrest, oder insbesondere
einen Cycloalkylrest, der an Sauerstoff über ein Ringatom gebunden ist. Spezielle Beispiele für geeignete
Alkylreste sind der 2,4-Tetramethyl-3-pentyl- und 2,4-Tetramethyl-3-hexylrest. Der Cycloalkylrest kann mono-,
di- oder tricyclisch sein, z. B. ist der 2,6-TetraaIkylcyclohexyl-, 2,5-Tetraalkylcyclopentyl-, 1,5-Dialkylbicyclo[3,2,1]oct-8-yl-,
l^^J-TetramethyltricycloIS^.l^-'lundec-l 1-yKApollan-l 1-yl)- und 1,3,3-Trimethylbicyclo[2,2,l]heptan-2-yl-(Fenchyl)-Rest
geeignet. Geeignete Substituenten für diese Cycloalkylreste sind Alkylreste
mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, insbesondere der Methylrest.
Vorzugsweise hat der Rest R2 die gleiche Bedeutung wie der Rest R1.
Eine besonders bevorzugte erfindungsgemäße Verbindung ist das Zinksalz von O,O'-Di-(l,5-dimethylbicyclo^.lloct-S-yO-dithiophosphorsäure.
Die Herstellung der Verbindungen der Formel III kann dadurch erfolgen, daß man 1,5-Dimethylbicyclo[3.2,l]octan-8-ol
und gegebenenfalls einen oder mehrere andere Alkohole und/oder Phenole mit Phosphorpentasulfid
zu einem Diester der Dithiophosphorsäure umsetzt und gegebenenfalls in das Salz umwandelt.
Diese Reaktion erfolgt zweckmäßigerweise bei erhöhter Temperatur, z. B. bei 100 bis 180°C.
l,5-Dimethylbicyclo[3,2,l]octan-8-ol kann leicht durch säurekatalysierte Hydratation und Umlagerung des
Isopren-Dimeren hergestellt werden.
Die Salze können durch Neutralisieren der Diester der Dithiophosphorsäure mit einer basischen Metallverbindung,
wie einem Hydroxyd, Carbonat oder Oxid eines Metalls der Gruppe I oder II des Periodensystems,
z. B. Natriumhydroxyd oder Zinkoxid, hergestellt werden. Das auf diese Weise hergestellte Metallsalz kann in
ein anderes Metallsalz durch doppelte Zersetzung mit einem Metallsalz, wie einem Chlorid oder Sulfat, umgewandelt
werden. So kann man z. B. das bei der Neutralisation gebildete Natriumsalz in das Zinksalz durch
Umsetzen mit Zinksulfat umwandeln. Die Reaktion erfolgt vorzugsweise in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels,
wie Benzol oder Toluol, und unter Stickstoffschutz. Reaktionstemperaturen von 30 bis 1000C sind geeignet. Das
Salz kann aus dem Reaktionsgemisch in herkömmlicher Weise isoliert werden, z. B. durch Extraktion.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Salze, insbesondere die polyvalenten Metallsalze derGruppe II des Periodensystems,
z. B. die Zinksalze, sind al» Schmierölzusatzstoffe besonders geeignet und werden als solche auch verwendet.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Salze können jedem Kraftstoff, Öl oder Fett zugesetzt werden, z. B. Benzin, Mittelrie.stiljat-RrennstQffen,
IndustrieiHen oder Schmierfetten. Sis sind jedoch als Zusatzstoffe für Schmieröle besen- 6ö
ders geeignet, insbesondere für die Verwendung in Verbrennungsmotoren.
Vorzugsweise ist das Schmiergrundöl ein Mineralschmieröl, das entweder durch Lösungsmittelextraktion
oder durch hydrierende Behandlung hergestellt worden ist, obwohl synthetische Kohlenwasserstoffschmieröle
und andere synthetische Schmieröle, z. B. Ester-Schmieröle, wie auch Gemische dieser Öle verwendet werden
können, vorausgesetzt, die erfindungsgemäße Verbindung ist darin löslich. Das Mineralschmieröl kann naphthenischer,
parafTiniscner oder gemischter naphthenischer/paraffinischer Natur sein, je nach Art des Rohöls,
aus dem es hergestellt worden ist. Geeignete Mineralöle sind Schmieröle mit niedrigem, mittlerem, hohem und
sehr hohem Viskositätsindex.
Die Menge an erfindungsgemäßem Zusatzmittel kann innerhalb weiter Grenzen schwanken; geeignet sind
Mengen von 0,01 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 2 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gemisch.
Das Schmieröl kann noch andere Zusatzmittel enthalten, z. B. Viskositätsindexverbesserer, Dispergiermittel
(aschebildende und/oder aschefreie), Stockpunkt-Emiedriger, Antioxidantien, Metall-Passivierungsmitte! und
Antikorrosionsmittel. Gegebenenfalls kann das Schmierölgemisch noch andere Mittel zur Verbesserung des
Lastaufnahmevermögens enthalten.
Die Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung.
55.-5 g (0,36 Mol) l,5-DimethylbicyclciT3,2,l]octan-8-ol werden mit20,0 g (0,09 Mol) Phosphorpentasulfid vermischt
und 5 Stunden auf 1400C erhitzt. Nach dieser Zeit ist die Gesamtmenge an Phosphorpentasulfid umgesetzt
Das Produkt, eine gelbe viskose Flüssigkeit, enthält hauptsächlich O,O'-Di-(l,5-dimethylbicyclo[3,2,l]oct-8-yl)-dithiophosphorsäure.
45 g des gemäß Beispiel 1 hergestellten Produkts werden in 50 ml Toluol gelöst und mit 400 ml Wasser versetzt.
Das Gemisch wird auf 600C unter Stickstoffschutz erwärmt, dann mit 5 n-Nalronlauge neutralisiert. Das
Reaktionsprodukt besteht hauptsächlich aus dem Natriumsalz von OjO'-Di-il.S-dimethylbicycloP^Jloct-S-yl)-dithiophosphorsäure.
15,9 g (0,06 Mol) Zinksulfat in Wasser werden langsam unter Rühren zu dem Produkt des Beispiels 2 gegeben.
Das Gemisch wird 90 Minuten auf 65°C erhitzt, dann mit Leichtbenzin (Siedebereich 60 bis 800C) extrahiert.
Der Extrakt wird filtriert und getrocknet, das Leichtbenzin wird abgedampft. Der feste Rückstand (39,9 g), der
hauptsächlich aus dem Zinksalz von O,0'-Di-(l,5-dimethylbicyclo[3,2,l]oct-8-yl)-dithiophosphorsäure besteht,
hat einen Fp. von 150 bis 2000C.
Berechnet: C 55, H 8,5, S 14,5, Zn 7,43%.
Gefunden: C 57, H 8,26, S 14,22, Zn 6,75%.

Aus folgenden Bestandteilen wird ein Schmierölgemisch hergestellt:

Es werden drei Mittel zur Verbesserung des Lastaufnahmevermögens verwendet, nämlich
1. das Produkt des Beispiels 3 (Beispiel 4),
2. das Zinksalz von O,O'-Di-(2-äthylhexyl)-dithiophosphorsäure (Vergleichsbeispiel (a)) und
3. das Zinksalz von 0,0'-Di-(p-Ci:-alkylphenyl)-dithiophosphorsäure (Vergleichsbeispiel (b)).
Das Ölgemisch wird in einem Nocken-Stößel-Apparat untersucht, der aus drei Gehäusen besteht, in denen je
eine drehbare Nocke aus induktiv gehärtetem Gußeisen angebracht ist. Jede drehbare Nocke befindet sich in
erzwungenem Kontakt mit einem Stößel aus Hartguß. Die Kontaktfläche zwischen Stößel und Nocke wird mit
einem Schmiermittelgemisch, das zwischen Nocke und Stößel gepumpt wird und in den Reservebehälter wieder
zurückfließt, geschmiert. Während des Tests drehen sich die Nocken mit etwa 1500 UpM unter einer statischen
Stößellast von 220 kg, wenn die Nocke oben ist. Das Öl wird auf einer Temperatur von etwa 800C gehalten. Es
werden etwa 700 g Öl in dem Versuch verwendet. Der Versuch wird während 20 Stunden durchgeführt, dann
werden die Nocken und die Stößel ersetzt, der Versuch läuft weitere 20 Stunden mit dem verbrauchten Öl.
Die Nocken werden vor und nach dem Versuch gewogen, der Gewichtsverlust jeder Nocke wird berechnet.
Die Stößel werden visuell auf Pitting!! untersucht. Einige Nocken versagten vollständig, was durch eine
Erhöhung der Öltemperatur am Ölauslaßstutzen des Gehäuses bemerkbar war.
Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle I zusammengefaßt.

lO-mg-Proben des Produkts des Beispiels 3 werden unter Luft und Stickstoff mit einer Geschwindigkeit von
10°C/Minute erhitzt. Die Temperaturen, bei denen sich 5 bzw. 10 Gewichtsprozent der Probe verflüchtigt
haben, werden notiert. Der Versuch (Vergleichsbeispiel (c)) wird mit dem Zusatzmittel (2) des Beispiels 4 5
wiederholt. Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle II zusammengefaßt.
