2. Verfahren zur Herstellung der Schmiermittelzusätze nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß

enthält, mit N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis-(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
in einem Molverhältnis von Amin zu Anhydrid <\ bei einer Temperatur von 120 bis
230° C umsetzt.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zur Herstellung eines Tetrapolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimids

6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zur Herstellung eines Monopolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimids
ein Molverhältnis von 0,7 bis 0,95 :1 einhält.
Die Erfindung betrifft Schmiermittelzusätze in Form von Alkenylbernsteinsäureimidderivaten, die sich von
N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin abieiten sowie ihre Herstellung.
Es ist allgemein bekannt, Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydride mit aliphatischen Monoaminen, aromatischen
Aminen oder heterocyclischen Aminen sowie mit Alkylidenpoiyaminen oder Polyoxyalkylidenaminen
umzusetzen und die dabei erhaltenen Alkenylbernsteinsäureimidderivate als Zusätze für Schmieröle, d. h. als
Schmiermittelzusätze zu verwenden.
Beispielsweise wird entsprechend der DE-OS 24 40 523 ein Alkenylbernsteinsäureimid mit einem
Aminoarylsulfonsäuresalz umgesetzt und das erhaltene Metall- oder Trialkylammoniumsulfanilat als Schmiermittelzusatz
empfohlen. Diese bekannten Zusätze sind neutrale Verbindungen, d. h. sie enthalten kein Stickstoffatom
mit freiem Elektronenpaar, das den in Schmierölen vorhandenen sauren Schlamm neutralisieren
könnte. Sie müssen daher zusammen mit stark alkalischen metallhaltigen Detergensmitteln eingesetzt
werden, um den sauren Schlamm zu neutralisieren und

seine Dispersion im Schmieröl steuern zu können. Derartige metallhaltige Zusätze bilden unerwünschte
Ascherückstände, ebenso wie die Metallsulfanilate
ji selbst.
Es besteht daher Bedarf nach aschefreien Schmiermittelzusätzen, die den sauren Motorenschlamm neutralisieren.und
dispergieren.
Es wurden nun neue Alkenylbernsteinsäureimidderi-
4(i vate entwickelt, die sich besonders gut als Detergens-Dispergierzusätze,
als Rostschutzmittel und als schaumhemmende Mittel in Motorenölen eignen. Diese neuen
Verbindungen enthalten mindestens zwei basische Stickstoffatome, d. h. Stickstoffatome mit freiem Elek-
■r, tronenpaar, an die sich die sauren Moleküle des
Motrenschlamms unter Bildung einer neutralen Verbindung
anlagern können. Außerdem bilden sie bei der Verbrennung keine Ascherückstände. Mit ihrer Hilfe
läßt sich der in Schmierölen enthaltene saure Motoren-
Vi schlamm neutralisieren und gut dispergieren. Die
erfindungsgemäß vorgesehenen Schmiermittelzusätze enthalten mindestens ein substituiertes Bernsteinsäureimidderival
der allgemeinen Formel

in der R eine Polyisobutenylgruppe mit 20 bis 200 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, m die Zahl 0, I oder 2 und

Die erfindungsgemäß vorgesehenen Schmiermittelzusätze werden dadurch erhalten, daß man ein
Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, dessen Polyisobutenylgruppe 20 bis 200 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, mit
N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropy!)äthylendiamin umsetzt.
Die Umsetzung wird bei einer Temperatur von 120 bis 23O0C, vorzugsweise von 140 bis 180°C vorgenommen
und dabei ein Molverhältnis von Amin zu
Polyisobutenylhernsteinsäureanhydrid <
1 eingehalten. Gegebenenfalls wird in Gegenwart eines Verdünnungsmittels
gearbeitet, um die Viskosität des Reaktionsmediums herabzusetzen; als Verdünnungsmittel wird dann
vorzugsweise ein Schmieröl ausgewählt, das auch als Grundöl in den Schmierölgemischen dient, wie in den
nachfolgenden Beispielen gezeigt wird.
Wird ein Molverhältnis nahe 1, vorzugsweise von 0,7 bis 0,95 eingehalten, so erhält man Schmiermittelzusätze,
die hauptsächlich Monopolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid enthalten.
Wird ein Molverhältnis von 0,4 bis 0,7 eingehalten, so erhält man Schmiermittelzusätze, die überwiegend
Bispolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid enthalten.
Wird ein Molverhältnis von 0,3 bis 0,4 eingehalten, so
erhält man Schmiermittelzusätze, die hauptsächlich Trispolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid enthalten.
Wird ein Molverhältnis von 0,25 bis 0,3 eingehalten, so
erhält man Schmiermittelzusätze, die überwiegend Tetrakispolyisofautcivylbernsteinsäureimid enthalten.
Die zur Anwendung kommenden Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydride
werden in an sich bekannter Weise hergestellt, beispielsweise durch Kondensieren
auf thermischem Wege (US-PS 33 06 907) von Maleinsäureanhydrid mit einem Polyisobuten, dessen Molekulargewicht
im Bereich von 400 bis 4000 liegt.
Die Kondensation kann auch in Gegenwart von Chlor erfolgen (US-PS 32 31587 und BE-PS 8 05 486), in
Gegenwart von Jod (GB-PS 13 56 802) oder in Gegenwart von Brom (DE-OS 25 23 692); diese
Maßnahme kann auch ausgehend von monochloricrtcm oder monobromierten Polyisobuten vorgenommen
werden, wie dies in dar FR-PS 20 42 55i beschrieben ist.
Der andere Reaktionspartner N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropylj-älhylendiamin
kann durc: Cyanäthylieren von Äthylendiamin mit Acrylnitril in einem Molverhältnis von Acrylnitril zu Amin von etwa 4 und
anschließendes Hydrieren des als Umsetzungsproduki erhaltenen Nitrils hergestellt werden.
Bei der Einwirkung von Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid auf N,N,N',N'-Te»rakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
kann auch eine kleine Menge. N,N,N'-Tris(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin vorhanden sein, ohne daß
dies die Wirkungsweise der erhaltenen Schmiermittelzusätze beeinträchtigt.
Die erfindungsgemäß vorgesehenen Schmiermittelzusätze werden den Schmierölen in Mengen von 1 bis 10
Gew.-% zugsetzt und statten diese mit bemerkenswerten Detergens-Dispergier-Rostschutz- und Antischaumeigenschaften
aus.
Als Schmierole kommen zahlreiche verschiedene Schmieröle infrage, z. 3. naphthenische und/oder
paraffinische Schmieröle, andere Kohlenwasserstoff-Schmiermittel, beispielsweise Schmieröle aus Steinkohlenteerprodukten,
synthetische öle wie Alkylenpolymere, Oxyalkylenrjolymere und deren Derivate einschließlich
der Oxyalkylenpolymeren, die durch Polymerisieren von Alkylenoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder
Alkoholen, wie Äthylalkohol hergestellt werden, weiterhin die Carbonsäureester, flüssige Phosphorsäureester,
Alkylbenzole Und Diälkylenbenzöle, Polyphenyle.
Biphenyl-alkylälher und Silicium-Polymere.
Wieviel von den neuen Schmiermittelzusätzen zugesetzt wird, hänjjt von der vorgesehenen Verwendung
des Schmieröls ab: Motorenöl für Benzinmotoren wird zweckmäßigerweise mit 1 bis 7% Schmiermittelzusatz
versetzt und Motorenöl für Dieselmotor zweckmäßigerweise mit 4 bis 10%.
Die folgenden Beispiele dienen zur näheren Erläuterung der Erfindung.
■5 In einem 2 I Dreihalskolben wurden 864 g Polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid
(nachfolgend kurz Anhydrid genannt) mit Säurezahl 77,7 (mg KOH, die notwendig sind, um 1 g Produkt zu neutralisieren)
vorgelegt, das durch Kondensation von Maleinsäurean-Hi hydrid mit einem Polyisobuten mit Molgewicht etwa
1000 erhalten worden war. Es wurden 96 g öl 100 N zugegeben, um diese Zahl von 77,7 auf 70 herabzudräkken.
Das Gemisch wurde unter Rühren auf 1200C
π erwä-mt; dann wurden im Verlauf von 40 min 43 g
Tetrakis(aminopropyl)äthylendiamin zugegeben; dies entsprach einem Molverhältnis von Polyamin zu
Anhydrid von 0,25 (: 1).
Die Temperatur wurde 2 h auf 1400C gebracht und
dabei allmählich der Druck bis auf 20 mm Hg gesenkt; dann wurde weitere 2 h auf 150°C/15 mm Hg erhitzt.
Das erhaltene Produkt bestand zum überwiegenden
Teil aus Tetrapolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid und enthielt 1,2% Gesamtstickstoff bei einer Säurezahl von
r> 6,7 mm KOH/g; die Viskosität betrug 450 cSt bei 98,9°C
(2100F).
Das zur Umsetzung gebrachte N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropyOäthylendiamin
war folgendermaßen durch Cyanoäthylieren von Äthylendiamin mit Acrylnitril und «ι anschließendes Hydrieren des erhaltenen Nitrils hergestellt
worden:
In einem 3 I Glaskolben, der mit Stickstoff gespült und mit mechanischem Rührer, aufsteigendem Kühler,
Einlaufampulle und Thermometer ausgestattet war, r> wurden 120,7 g (2 Mol) Äthylendiamin und 200 g
destilliertes Wasser vorgelegt. Dann ließ man im Verlauf von 35 min 636 g (12 Mol) Acrylnitril unter
Rühren und bei einer Temperatur von 25 bis 400C zulaufen. Man erhielt eine gelbliche klare Lösung, die im
4Ii wesentlichen N,N'-Bis(2-cyanäthyl)äthylendiamin enthielt.
Diese Lösung wurde unter Rühren auf 700C erwärmt
und 40 hbei 70bis 76°C gehalten; dann wurde auf 20 bis
25°C abgekühlt. Man erhielt auf diese Weise 538 g
4ϊ N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(2-cvdnäthyl)äthylendiamin in Form
von weißen Nadeln.
Dieses rohe Tetranitril wurde zur Reinigung aus absolutem Äthanol umkristallisiert; man erhielt 507,5 g
reines Produkt mit Fp. 66,4 bis 66,8°C im zugeschmolze-Vi
nen Röhrchen.
In einem 3,6 1 Autoklaven aus rostfreiem Stahl, der mit Stickstoff gespült und mit Rührwerk, Injektionsleitung
und Heiz- und Kühlsystem mittels Wasserbad ausgestattet war, wurden HmI Natronlauge 360Be,
μ 400 ml Suspension aus Raney-Nickel in absolutem
Äthanol enthaltend 136 g Raney-Nickel, 544 g (2 Mol) obiges Tetranitril und 544 ml Äthanol vorgelegt. Der
Autoklav wurde verschlossen, dreimal mit Stickstoff und dann mit Wasserstoff gespült. Anschließend wurde
Wi Wasserstoff bis zu einem Druck von 40 bar aufgepreßt.
Der Autoklav wurde geschüttelt und auf eine Temperatur von 35 bis 400C gebracht und anschließend
im Verlauf von 17 min auf 250C abgekühlt; es waren
3")7 I Wasserstoff absorbiert worden.
h'i Anschließend wurde der Autoklav entgast und mit Stickstoff gespült; die Reaktionsmasse wurde isoliert und der Reaktor dreimal mit 200 ml absolutem Äthanol gespült. Der Katalysator wurde abgespült; man erhielt

2050 g farbloses und klares Filtrat. Dieses Filtrat wurde mit 12 ml Salzsäure (d = l,19) versetzt und das
Lösungsmittel unter vermindertem Druck (2 Torr) bei 80° C abdestilliert. Der Rückstand (558 g) wurde filtriert,
um das gebildete Natriumchlorid abzutrennen. Man erhielt so 546 g (entsprechend einer Ausbeute von
88,4%) Produkt, das zu 95% aus N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
und aus 5% Ν,Ν,Ν,Ν'-Tris(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin bestand, in Form
einer klaren strohgelben öligen Flüssigkeit.
In einem 31 Dreihalskolben wurden 1600 g (1 Mol)
Anhydrid mit Säurezahl 70 vorgelegt, das wie in Beispiel 1 erhalten worden war. Das Medium wurde unter
Rühren auf 100° C erwärmt. Dann wurden im Verlauf von 30 min 86 g Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
zugegeben; dies entsprach einem Molverhältnis PoIyamin/Anhydrid = 0,3. Es wurde 2 h unter Druckverminderung
auf 25 mm Hg auf eine Temperatur von 140°C und dann 1 häuf 150° C/25 mm Hgerwärmt.
Das erhaltene Produkt bestand überwiegend aus Trispolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid utrd enthielt
1,45% Gesamtstickstoff, Säurezahl 3,6 mg KOH/g; die Viskosität betrug 590 cSt bei 98,9UC.
In einem 1 1 Dreihalskolben wurden 350 g gemäß Beispiel 1 hergestelltes Anhydrid mit Säurezahl 80
vorgelegt und mit 50 g Öl 100 N als Verdünnungsmittel versetzt. Das ganze wurde unter Rühren auf 110cC
erwärmt. Dann wuiden im Verlauf von 10 min 24 g
Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin zugegeben, entsprechend
einem Molverhältnis Polyamin/Anhydrid = 033. Es wurde 3 h auf 1400C erwärmt und dabei
der Druck allmählich auf 25 mm Hg gesenkt.
Man erhielt ein Gemisch aus Tetra- und Tris-polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid
mit 1.62% Gesamtstickstoff 4n und Säurezahl 45 mg KOH/g.
In einem 31 Dreihalskolben wurden 1600 g gemäß r,
Beispiel 1 hergestelltes Anhydrid mit Säure/ahl 70 vorgelegt und unter Rühren aut lOO'C erwärmt. Dann
wurden im Verlauf von 15 min 36 g Tctrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
zugegeben, entsprechend einem Molverhältnis von Polyamin zu Anhydrid = 0.5. Das .u
Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf 1400C erwärmt, wobei der
Druck allmählich auf 25 mm Hg gesenkt wurde. Diese Bedingungen wurden 3 h beibehalten.
Das erhaltene Produkt bestand überwiegend aus Bis-polyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid. Gesamtstickstoff ,,
2.24%; Säurezahl 11,3 mg KOH/g.
In einem 3 1 Dreihalskolben wurden 1600g (1 Mol) .,π
gemäß Beispiel 1 hergestelltes Anhydrid mil Säure/ahl 70 vorgelegt und unter Rühren auf 100'(' erwärmt.
Dann wurden im Verlauf von 30 min 2JOg Tctrakis(3-aminopropyl)äthylendiamin
zugegeben, entsprechend einem Molverhiiltnis PoUamin/Anhvdrid = 0.8 Die ·.
Temperatur vnirdc 2 h auf 140 C gebracht und der
Druck auf 25 mm Hg gesenkt; dann uiirilc I h .Ulf
150 C/25 mm Hgcr'iitzt.
Das erhaltene Produkt bestand überwiegend aus Monopolyisobutenylbernsteinsäureimid, Gesamtstickstoff
3,7%; Säurezahl 2 mg KOH/g.

In einem 2 1 Dreihalskolben wurden 1400 g Anhydrid
mit Säurezahl 80 vorgelegt, das durch Kondensation von Maleinsäureanhydrid mit einem Polyisobuten mit
κι Molekulargewicht etwa 1300 erhalten worden war. Es
wurden 200 g öl 100 N zugegeben, um diese ZaM von 80 auf 70 zu verringern.
Das Gemisch wurde unter Rühren auf 130°C erwärmt
und im Verlauf von 40 min mit 72 g Tetrakis(aminopro- > pyljäthylendiamin versetzt, entsprechend einem Molverhältnis
Polyamin/Anhydrid von 0,25. Dann wurde 2 h auf 140°C erwärmt, wobei der Druck auf 20 mm Hg
gesenkt wurde; anschließend wurde 2 h auf 150°C/ 15 mm Hg erhitzt.

Tetrapolyisobutenylbernsteinsä_v2imid, Gesamtstickstoff
1,3%; Säurezahl 5.3 mg KOH/g.
j-i Es wurden die Dispergiereigenschaften der gemäß
de." obigen Beispielen hergestellten Schmiermittelzusätze
(Schmieradditive) untersucht und zwar mit Hilfe der in »Les huiles pour moteurs et Ie graissage des
moteurs« Ausgabe 1962, Bd. 1 Seiten 89-90 von A.
κι Schilling beschriebenen Tüpfelmetliode.
Zur Bestimmung wurde von 20 g Öl SAE 30 ausgegangen nach Zusatz von 5 g Schlamm aus einem
Petter AV,-Motor. enthaltend etwa 2% Kohlenstoff-artige Produkte. Dem öl SAE 30 waren zuvor die
r. notwendigen Additive zugegeben worden entsprechend der folgenden Rezeptur, wobei sich die Mengen der
verschiedenen Additive auf 1 kg Öl beziehen:
50 mMol Dispergiermittel, das untersucht Vi erden soll
(erfindungsgemäßer Schmiermittelzusatz)
30 mMol Calciumalkylbenzolsulforiat

Das Gemisch aus Öl + Zusätzen und Schlamm wurde in 5 Anteile aufgeteilt, die jeweils geschüttelt und einer
Wärmebehandlung nach folgendem Schema unterworfen wurden:

Von jedem Gemisch wurde nach der Wärmebehandlung I Tropfen entnommen und auf ein Filterpapier
gegeben. Die Bewertung erfolgte nach 48 h. Für jeden Tüpfel wurde der prozentuale Anteil des dispergierlen
Produktes bezogen auf den Ölfleck berechnet, indem die Durchmesser des Ölfleckcs und des dispergierten
Produktes zueinander in Beziehung gebracht wurden; je hoher der Anteil dispergiertes Produkt war. um so
besser ist die Dispergierwirkung gegenüber dem
Schlamm. Man erhielt auf diese Weise die in der nachfolgenden Tabelle aufgeführten Werte.
