Diese Erfindung "betrifft Iriarylphaaphorsäureester und Gemische
von Triarylphosphorsäureestern, die als funktionel-Ie

Phosphorsäureester werden seit langem als funktioneile Flüssigkeiten, wie hydraulische Flüssigkeiten, Schmiermittel
und dergleichen verwendet«, Dies geschieht allein in vollständig synthetischen Zubereitungen, sowie als Zusätze
zu Mineralölzubereitungen, um diesen Hochdruckeigenschaften zu verleihen»
Zu neutralen Phosphorsäureestern gehören 3 Klassen von
Verbindungen: Trialkylphosphat, Triaryl- und Alkyl-substituierte
Triarylphosphate und gemischte Alkylarylphosphate.
Von diesen sind die Triarylphosphate im allgemeinen wegen ihrer thermischen Stabilität, geringem Dampfdruck, G-eruchlosigkeit,
geringen Reaktionsfähigkeit und geringen Entflammbarkeit bekannt. Solche Eigenschaften werden von
Schmiermitteln für Hochtemperaturzwecke in der Industrie und für Flugzeuge benötigt. Ungünstigerweise sind jedoch
die Triarylphosphate als solche Schmiermittel wegen ihrer geringen Schmierfähigkeit und schlechten Viskositätseigenschaften
ungeeignet. Phosphate, die gute Schmierfähigkeit und Viskosität aufweisen, insbesondere Trialkylphosphate
und Alkyldiarylphosphate sind im allgemeinen für Hochtemperaturen
wegen ihrer geringen oxidativen Stabilität ungeeignet. Es ist daher üblich, Gemische von Estern zu formulieren,
um einen Ausgleich der gewünschten Eigenschaften
herzustellen.

In den letzten Jahren sind'die Arbeitsbedingungen in der
Industrie, wie bei Flugzeugen, Raketen und dergleichen, stetig schwerer geworden. Die Folge davon ist eine erhöhte
Nachfrage nach synthetischen Schmiermitteln und hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten, die gute Viskosität, Schmierfähigkeit
und Belastbarkeit aufweisen, und geeignet sind, dem oxidativen und thermischen Abbau zu widerstehen. Die bisherigen
Anstrengungen, solche Flüssigkeiten zur Verfügung zu stellen, waren in erster Linie auf das Mischen ausgewählter
Phosphatester und das Einbringen vieler Zusätze, wie Schmiermittel, Viskositätsindexverbesserer, Oxidationsinhibitoren und dergleichen, gerichtet. Alkyl-substituierte
Triarylphosphate, wie Trixylenylphosphat, waren von besonderem
Interesse, weil bekannt ist, daß das Vorliegen von Alkylgruppen dem Ester Schmierfähigkeit verleiht„ Well jedoch
die Alkylgruppen den Ester ebenso oxidativ weniger stabil machen, waren bisher Alkyl-substituierte Triarylphosphate
im allgemeinen dort ungeeignet, wo oxidative Stabilität erforderlich war. Obgleich eine gewisse Verbesserung
der Schmierfähigkeit und oxidativen Stabilität durch die Verwendung von Additiven, wie dies nach dem
Stand der Technik üblich war, erreicht werden kann, besteht ein Bedürfnis nach einer Phosphatesterzubereitung,
die als solche diese wünschenswerten Eigenschaften aufweist
Ziel der Erfindung sind daher organische Phosphatester,

die eine einzigartige Kombination von Eigenschaften aufweisen und besonders als funktioneile Flüssigkeiten,geeignet
sind.
Weitere Gegenstände der Erfindung sind
- substituierte Triarylphosphorester mit guter Feuerbestandigkeit,
thermischer Stabilität und Verhaltenseigenschaften, die sie als funktionelle Flüssigkeiten geeignet
machen
- Gemische von substituierten Triarylphosphaten einschließlich Alkyl-substituierten Verbindungen mit guter Schmierfähigkeit,
die den bekannten Alkyl-substituierten Triarylphosphaten in der thermischen und oxidativen Stabilität
überlegen sind.
Die Zubereitungen der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten (I) substituierte Triarylphosphate der allgemeinen Formel
worin R, unabhängig voneinander, Wasserstoff, ein Alkylrest
mit 4 bis 18 Kohenstoffatomen, ein Arylalkylrest der
allgemeinen Formel

worin R1 ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen ist,
vorausgesetzt, daß wenigstens ein R ein Arylalkylrest ist
und
(II) Gemischt mit dem Gehalt von Triarylphoaphaten, bei
denen ungefähr 2-45 Mol-% der gesamten R-Gruppen Alkylreste,
2-45 Mol-$ der R-Gruppen Arylalkylreste, worin
der Arylrest über ein tertiäres Kohlenstoffatom einer CL ..,-Brücke, wie oben definiert mit dem Molekül verbunden
ist, und ungefähr 50 - 90 Mol-$ der gesamten R-Gruppen Wasserstoff sind»
Diese Zubereitungen können durch die Reaktion von Phenolen und ausgewählten, substituierten Phenolen mit Phosphoroxychlorid
nach den üblichen Verfahren und dem nachfolgenden Reaktionsablauf hergestellt werden.

Nach der vorliegenden Erfindung können die in der obigen Reaktion verwendeten Phenole ein Gemisch von Phenol und

Man kann auch die einzelnen Phosphatester aus den spezifischen
Phenolen und substituierten Phenolen herstellen und diese Ester dann unter Bildung der erfindungsgemäßen
Zubereitung mischen«
Diese Phosphatester haben gute Schmierfähigkeit, sind gegenüber
Oxidation resistent und sind besonders als schmierende und druckübertragende, funktionelle Flüssigkeiten
geeignete
Die Iriarylphosphate dieser Erfindung werden leicht nach
den üblichen herkömmlichen Verfahren hergestellt. So ist es beispielsweise bekannt, daß zyklische Alkoholester von
Phosphorsäure dadurch hergestellt werden können, daß man einen Alkohol oder ein Gemisch von Alkoholen mit Phosphoroxyhalogenid
bei Temperaturen von ungefähr 0 - 3000G umsetzt. Die Reaktionen werden durch Erhitzen eines Gemisohs
der ausgewählten Reaktionspartner auf eine Reaktionstemperatur, vorzugsweise in Gegenwart eines Katalysators, wie
metallischem Kalzium, Magnesium oder Aluminium oder einem Ohlorid von Magnesium, Aluminium, Eisen oder Zinn usw.
durchgeführt. Die Temperatur, auf die das Gemisch erhitzt werden muß, um eine sohneile Reaktion zu erhalten, ist natürlich
von den jeweiligen verwendeten Reaktionspartnern, den AnteilVerhältnissen der Reaktionspartner, dem Vorliegen
oder Fehlen eines Katalysators usw. abhängig. Da je-

doch die Reaktion unter Bildung von Halogenwasserstoff abläuft, ist es notwendig, das Gemisch auf eine Temperatur
zu erhitzen, bei der Halogenwasserstoffgas ausgeschieden wird. Die Reaktionen werden vorzugsweise bei der niedrigsten
geeigneten Reaktionstemperatur, gewöhnlich unter 300 0 und vorzugsweise zwischen 120 und 22O0G durchgeführt,
Der Phosphoroxyhalogenid-Reaktionspartner kann Phosphoroxychlorid oder Phosphoroxybromid sein«, Der Alkohol kann
ein Phenol oder substituiertes Phenol oder ein Alkalimetallsalz von solchen Phenolen sein.
Gemischte Triarylphosphate können dadurch hergestellt werden,
daß man Phenole und substituierte Phenole einzeln mit Phosphoroxyhalogenid in einer Reihe getrennter Reaktionen
oder mit einem Gemisch solcher Phenolen und substituierter Phenole gleichzeitig in einer einzigen Reaktion umsetzt.
Im ersteren Falle werden die substituierten Phenole mit Phosphoroxyhalogenid unter Bildung von Monoarylphosphorsäuredihalogeniden
oder Diarylphosphorsäuremonohalogeniden
umgesetzt, die danach mit Phenol zur vollständigen Veresterung umgesetzt werden. Bei einem solchen System sieht man
bei der Bildung des Arylphosphorsäurehalogenid-Zwischenprodukts vor, das -substituierte Phenol in einem leicht geringerem
Verhältnis gegenüber dem theoretisch erforderlichen zu verwenden, weil die Ausbeute an einem solchen Zwischen-

produkt dann im allgemeinen am höchsten ist. Es ist weiterhin wünschenswert, obgleich nicht notwendig, das Arylphosphorsäurehalogenid-Zwischenprodukt
durch Destillation oder sonst wie vor Beendigung der Reaktion mit dem Phenol zu reinigen, weil .dann die gewünschten, 'gemischten Iriarylphosphate
in maximaler Ausbeute und Reinheit erhalten werden O
Die Herstellung gemischter Iriarylphosphate durch die
gleichzeitige Reaktion eines Gemische unterschiedlich substituierter Phenole und von Phenol wird bevorzugt, wenn
dies zur Vereinfachung und aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen möglich ist. Die Phenole werden in den errechneten Anteilen
gemischt, um die gewünschten Konzentrationen der jeweiligen Phenolsubstituenten in dem Endester herzustellen.
Obgleich nach diesem Verfahren notwendigerweise ein undefinierbares Gemisch von spezifischem Triarylphosphate st er
hergestellt wird, können die Eigenschaften dieses Produkts vorausgesehen und durch die relativen Molarverhältnisse
der ausgewählten Phenylsubstituenten gesteuert werden, so
daß die erhaltenen Produkte als funktioneile Flüssigkeiten geeignet sind. Nach beendeter Veresterungsreaktion kann das
Reaktionsgemisoh mit Luft oder Stickstoff durohgeblasen
oder unter Vakuum genommen werden, um den Halogenwasserstoff und andere flüchtige Verunreinigungen zu entfernen,

Ein besonders bevorzugtes substituiertes Triarylphosphat
(I) hat einen Cumylrest als Arylalkylsubstituenten und
wird zweckmäßig aus Oumylphenol hergestellt» Cumylphenol selbst kann durch Alkylierung von Phenol mit dehydratisiertem
alpha-Methylstyrol nach dem folgenden Reäktionsablauf erhalten werden:

Bei der Alkylierung wird das dehydratisierte rohe alphabet
hyl styrol dem Phenol, das Bortrifluorid als Katalysator
enthält, bei 38 G zugegeben. Das Gemisch wird ungefähr
1 Stunde bei 380O gehalten, um die Reaktion ablaufen
zu lassen, wonach Wasser zur Entaktivierung des Katalysators zugegeben wird. Überschüssiges Phenol und andere nieder
siedende Anteile werden durch Destillation entfernt, wonach man das Oumylphenol Überkopf als Mittelschnitt entnimmt.
Cumylphenol hat einen Brechungskoeffizient bei 780C von 1,5700 + 0,001.
Zu weiteren, in dieser Erfindung brauchbaren, substituierten Phenolen, die nach dem vorausgehend beschriebenen Verfahren
hergestellt werden können, gehören 2-Phenyl-2-(4*-hydroxyphenyl)-butan
durch die Umsetzung von Phenol mit entweder alpha-Äthylstyrol oder 2-Phenylbuten-2,

Das nachfolgende Beispiel dient der Erläuterung der Erfindung zur Beschreibung der Herstellung von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat,
einem bevorzugten Iriarylphosphat (i)
der vorliegenden Erfindung,
In ein Reaktionsgefäß, das mit Rührwerk und einer gekühlten
Kondensiervorrichtung ausgestattet ist, werden 18,41 kg Phosphoroxychlorid und 0,72 kg Aluminiumchlorid eingebracht.
Die Schlämme wird auf 380C erhitzt und 25,49 kg geschmolzenes
Cumylphenol langsam in einer Geschwindigkeit zugegeben, die durch die Fähigkeit des Kühlsystems bestimmt wird, das
Phosphoroxychlorid aus dem Abpumpgasstrom zu kondensieren
und zu dem Reaktionsgefaß zurückzuführen.
Nach beendeter Zugabe des Cumylphenols wird das Reaktionsgemisch auf 125°C erhitzt und 1 Stunde hierbei behalten.
Der Druck wird dann langsam auf 80 - 100 Torr verringert

und der Ansatz eine weitere Stunde unter minimalen Rückflußbedingungen
gehalten. Danach wird das Reaktionsgefäß wieder auf atmosphärischen Druck gebracht und es werden
24,85 kg Phenol langsam in einer Geschwindigkeit zugegeben, die bestimmt wird durch die Kapazität des Überkopfsystems
das gebildete HOl zu entfernen. Das Reaktionsgefäß wird dann 1 Stunde bei 140 G gehalten, wonach der
Druck auf 20 - 30 mm gesenkt und die Temperatur eine weitere Stunde zur Beendigung der Reaktion auf 1600C erhöht

Der Katalysator in dem Reaktionsgemisch wird dann durch Zugabe von 1,18 kg Wasser deaktiviert. Der Ansatz wird
dann auf pH 8,8 durch Zugabe einer 50$igen Natriumhydroxidlösung
leicht alkalisch gemacht und 1/2 Stunde stehen gelassen, während die Temperatur unter ungefähr 300C gehalten
wird. Die Veresterungsreaktion wird während dieser alkalischen Standzeit nach der Schotten-Baumann-Reaktion dadurch
beendet, daß man die Salze von überschüssigen Phenolen mit irgendwelchen rückständigen Chloridaten reagieren
läßt. Nach der alkalischen Wartezeit wird der Ester mittels herkömmlichem Waschen und Dehydratisieren gewonnene

In ähnlicher Weise wird nach dem Verfahren des vorausgehenden
Beispiels, Di(cumylphenyl)-phenylphosphat durch Umsetzen von 2 Mol Cumylphenol und 1 Mol Phenol pro Mol
Phosphoroxychlorid, und Tri(cumylphenyl)-phosphat durch Umsetzen von 3 Mol Cumylphenol pro Mol Phosphoroxychlorid
hergestellt. Weitere substituierte Triarylphosphate werden
in ähnlicher Weise hergestellt, wobei man andere substituierte Phenole anstelle von Cumylphenol in den vorausgehenden
Beispielen verwendet.
Die wesentlichen Bestandteile der Triarylphosphatesterzubereitungen
(II) dieser Erfindung sind die vorausgehend bereits beschriebenen Phenolsubstituenten als Alkyle mit
4-18 Kohlenstoffatomen und Alkylaryl -C(R1)2#-reste. Es
wurde festgestellt, daß die Eigenschaften der Flüssigkeit hinsichtlich der oxidativen Stabilität, Viskosität, Schmierfähigkeit
und Selbstentzündungstemperatur (AIT) gesteuert und optimal gestaltet werden kann, wodurch man eine besonders
wünschenswerte Flüssigkeit durch geeigneten Ausgleich
der relativen Anteile dieser Bestandteile erhält.
Im besonderen wurde festgestellt, daß wenn der Anteil
-C(R1)20 in dem Estergemisch erhöht wird, die oxidative
Stabilität und Viskosität der Flüssigkeit erhöht werden,

und daß, wenn der Anteil des Alkylbetandteils erhöht wird,
die Schmierfähigkeit der Flüssigkeit erhöht wird und man eine Zwischenviskosität erhält. Wenn die Anteile sowohl der
Alkyl- als auch -C(R1 )20f-gruppe gesenkt wird, wird die Viskosität
der Flüssigkeit gesenkt und die Selbstentzündungstemperatur erhöht.
Durch die geeignete Auswahl der relativen Anteile des Phenol, Alkyl-substituierten Phenol und der -G(R1 )„$ substituierten
Phenol-Reaktionspartner, ist es möglich, eine Triarylflüssigkeit mit einem weiten Bereich wünschenswerter Eigenschaften
herzustellen.
Überraschenderweise haben die Zubereitungen (II) der vorliegenden Erfindung eine weit größere oxidative Stabilität
als dies aufgrund der Anzahl der Alkylkohlenstoffe in der
Formel vorausgesagt werden könnte. Es ist bekannt, daß durch das Vorliegen von Alkylkohlenstoffen in Triarylphosphat
die Schmierfähigkeit der Flüssigkeit verbessert wird, daß aber ebenso die Zubereitungen anfälliger gegenüber Oxidation werden. Demgegenüber kann aufgezeigt werden, daß die
oxidative Widerstandsfähigkeit der Alkyl-substituierten
Triphenylphosphate sich umgekehrt mit der Zahl der in ihrer
Formel vorhandenen Alkylkohlenstoffe ändert und daß beispielsweise das Irixylenylphosphat weniger stabil ist als
Iricreeylphosphat, das seinerseits weniger stabil ist als

Triphenylphosphat. Eine bevorzugte Zubereitung (II) der
vorliegenden Erfindung enthält -ein Gemisch von 2 !Teilen
Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat und einem Teil Uonylphenyldiphenylphosphat
mit durchschnittlich 5 Alkylkohlenstoffen pro Ester. Die überlegene oxidative Stabilität dieser Zubereitung
im Vergleich zu anderen Alkyl-substituierten Triphenylphosphaten
mit vergleichsweisem Alkylgehalt, wird durch die Angaben der Tabelle I bestätigt, wobei die erhaltenen
Werte mittels der nachfolgend definierten Oxidations- und Korrosionsversuche erhalten wurden. Eine gute
oxidative Stabilität bezieht sich auf eine geringe Yiskositätserhöhung, geringer Angriffswirkung gegenüber Metall
und keiner Kohlen- oder Schlammbildung.

Die Eigenschaften irgendeiner besonderen Triarylphosphatzubereitung
wird im großen Ausmaß sowohl von der Natur der R-und R'-Gruppen als auch deren relativen Anteilen in der.
Flüssigkeit abhängen. Es muß demgemäß die Anzahl der R-und R1-Gruppen in Betracht gezogen werden, wenn man die Anteile
der zur Verwendung vorgesehenen substituierten Phenolreaktionspartner
zur Herstellung der Ester bestimmte
Wie bereits beschrieben, können die R'-Reste in dem -C(R')pJ2f-
Wk. Substituent Alkylreste mit 1 bis ungefähr 6 Kohlenstoffatomen
sein und sie sind vorzugsweise Alkylreste mit 1 - ungefähr 3 Kohlenstoffatomen. Die R-Gruppe des Alkyl-substituierten
Phenols kann von ungefähr 4-18 Kohlenstoffatome
und vorzugsweise von ungefähr 6-12 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten.
Durch mögliche Änderungen bei der Auswahl dieser Alkylgruppen erhält man eine Vielzahl von Kombinationen
und es ist dadurch unmöglich»alle Kombinationen hinsichtlich der Konzentration der Substituenten und der Eigenschaften
des Esterprodukts zu untersuchen. Eine solche Bestimmung kann jedoch leicht ohne unnötige Versuche durch den Fachmann
für irgendeine besondere Kombination der substituierten Phenolreaktionspartner, für die man sich interessiert,
bestimmt werden. Die Bestimmung wird durch die Tatsache unterstützt, daß bestimmte Grenzen der relativen Anteile
der Phenolsubstituenten eingehalten werden müssen. Im besonderen sind die bevorzugten Triarylphosphatesterzubereitungen
(II) dieser Erfindung Triphenylphosphate, in denen

ungefähr 2-45 Mol-# der Phenyle Alkyl-substituiert, von
ungefähr 2-45 Mol-$ der Phenyle Arylalkyl-substituiert

Ausschließlich dem Zwecke der Erläuterung dienen die nachfolgenden
Beispiele, wobei eine bevorzugte Ausführungsform dieser Erfindung erläutert wird. In diesen Beispielen ist
der Arylalkylsubstituent Cumylphenyl, der R1-Rest in dem
-C(R1)2^-Substituent Methyl und der Alkylsubstituent Nonylo
Das Verhältnis der Reaktionspartner wird so gesteuert, daß man einen Ester erhält, der nominell 2 !Peile Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat
und einen Teil Nonylphenyldiphenylphosphat
enthält.
Zur Herstellung dieses Esters ist es erwünscht=, eine Zweistufenreaktion
durchzuführen, bei der ein Mol Nony!phenol
und zwei Mol Gumylphenol zuerst mit drei Mol Phosphoroxychlorid umgesetzt werden, wodurch man ein Gemisch von monoaryl-Phosphorsäuredichloridaten
erhält, die danach mit Phenol zur vollständigen Veresterung umgesetzt werden. Das
Nonylphenol und Cumylphenol können gemischt und gleichzeitig unter guten Ergebnissen umgesetzt werden. Die Reaktionen
können auch unter Bildung der Dichloridate getrennt durchgeführt werden und die Veresterung der Teilesterprodukte,
die entweder vorher oder nachher kombiniert werden

können, wird durch die Reaktion mit Phenol beendet.
Wenn gewünscht, können die verbesserten Flüssigkeiten dieser Erfindung dadurch hergestellt werden, daß man ein Gemisch
mit einem Gehalt von 2 Mol Cumylphenol, 1 Mol JMonylphenol
und 6 Mol Phenol mit 5 Mol Phosphoroxychlorid umsetzt. Das Produkt dieser Reaktion wird geeigneterweise
hinsichtlichseiner nominellen Zusammensetzung von 2 Teilen Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat und 1 Teil Nonylphenyldiphenylphosphat
bezeichnet, wobei jedoch darauf hinzuweisen ist, daß das Produkt tatsächlich auch andere Ester, wie Di(nonylphenyl)-phenylphosphat,
Di(cumylphenyl)-phenylphosphat, Cumylphenylnonylphenylphenylphosphat, Triphenylphosphat
und dergleichen enthält.
Zu dem oben angegebenen Reaktionsprodukt können zusätzliche Mengen an Triphenylphosphat je nach Wunsch zugegeben werden,
um die relativen Anteile der Cumylphenyl- und Nonylsubstituenten in der Flüssigkeit zu senken und dadurch die Viskosität
herabzusetzen und die Selbstentzündungstemperatur der Flüssigkeit zu erhöhen«.
Die folgenden Beispiele beschreiben die Herstellung einer bevorzugten Zubereitung, die zwei Teile Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat
und einen Teil Uonylphenyldiphenylphosphat
enthält.

Einem Reactionsgefaß, ausgestattet mit Rührwerk, gekühltem
Kondensator und einer Beschickungsleitung unter der Oberfläche, werden 8,74 kg Nonylphenol und 16,87 kg Cumylphenol
zugeführt. Das Gemisch der Phenole wird auf ungefähr 100 C erhitzt und hierzu 0,25 kg Magnesiumchloridkatalysator zugegeben.
Einer Phosphoroxychloridbeschickung von 18,27 kg
wird langsam unter Rühren dem Phenol-Katalysatorgemisch
durch die Beschickungsleitung unter der Oberfläche zugegeben. Wärme wird dem Reaktionsgefäß zugeführt, um die Reaktionstemperatur auf ungefähr 100 C zu halten.

Torr gesenkt und das Reaktionsgefäß bei diesem Druck ungefähr 1 Stunde gehalten, um die Reaktion und Bildung von
Nonylphenylphosphordichloridat und Oumylphenylphosphordichloridat zu beenden und den als Nebenprodukt auftretenden HCl aus der Reaktionsmasse zu entfernen.

Der Druck des Reaktionsgefäßes wird dann langsam auf 20 bis 30 Torr gesenkt und nach 1 Stunde wird die Temperatur auf
1600C unter Beibehaltung eines reduzierten Drucks erhöht,,
und diese Bedingungen eine weitere Stunde beibehalten.
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt stellt man in dem Reaktionsgefäß wieder atmosphärische Bedingungen her und es werden 0,25 kg
Magnesiumchloridkatalysator dem Reaktionsgefäß unter Rühren
zugegeben. Nach beendeter Zugabe dieser Katalysatorbeschickung
wird der Druck im Reaktionsgefäß erneut auf 20 bis 30 Torr bei 1600C reduziert und das Reaktionsgefäß ungefähr
2 Stunden bei diesen Bedingungen gehalten, um die Veresterungsreaktion zu beenden und das gasförmige HCl-Reaktionsprodukt
zu entfernen.
Das Produkt der Veresterungsreaktion wird als klares, blaßgelbes Gemisch gewonnen, das einen Teil Nonylphenyldiphenylphosphat
und zwei Teile Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat enthält.
Das Verfahren von Beispiel 2 wurde unter Verwendung unterschiedlicher
Mengen an Fonylphenol-und Cumylphenolreaktionspart
nern wiederholt, um eine Reihe von Flüssigkeiten herzustellen, die verschiedene Zusammensetzungen aufweisen.

Die Oxidations- und Gorrosionsuntersuchung (O&C) wurde nach
dem "Federal Test Method Standard 791 - Verfahren 5308.4" mit den folgenden Modifizierungen durchgeführt:

Die Abriebangaben wurden nach dem herkömmlichen Shell 4-Kugelverfahren
erhalten, das eine Stunde lang bei 625 Upm einer Last von 40 kg bei 75°G durchgeführt wurde.
"Autogenous Ignition Temperature" (Selbstentzündung) wurde
nach dem ASTM-Verfahren D-2155-66 bestimmt.
In der vorausgehenden Tabelle wurde das Beispiel (e) dadurch hergestellt, daß man 6 Gewicht steile der Zubereitung
von Beispiel (d) mit 2,5 Gewichtsteilen Triphenylphosphat
mischt, um die Viskosität der Flüssigkeit zu senken und die AIT zu erhöhen.
Die Zahlen von Tabelle II erläutern die wünschenswerten Eigenschaften, die man mit Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung
erhält. Im einzelnen ist zu entnehmen, daß oxidative Stabilität, die durch die Viskositätserhöhung in Prozent und
durch die Kupferkorrosionsgeschwindigkeit bestimmt wurde

im allgemeinen gut ist. Die Schmierfähigkeit der Zubereitungen der Tabelle II ist ebenfalls sehr gut, was man aus
den Abriebzahlen entnehmen kann, da alle Narbendurchmesser geringer als 1 mm waren. .Besonders bedeutend ist der geringe
Narbendurchmesser den man in Beispiel (e) erhielt, wodurch die ausgezeichnete Schmierfähigkeit aufgezeigt wird,
die man mit den Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung bei geringen Viskositätshöhen erhält.
Zur Formulierung funktioneller Flüssigkeiten können die Zubereitungen
dieser Erfindung weiterhin Farbstoffe, Stockpunkterniedriger, Metalldeaktivatoren, Säurefänger, Antioxidationsmittel,
Entschaumungsmittel, Viskositätsindexverbesserer,
die Schmierfähigkeit verbessernde Mittel, Streckmittel und dergleichen enthalten. Solche Additive,
die zur Verwendung bei funktionellen Flüssigkeiten auf Phosphorsäureesterbasis geeignet sind, werden allgemein
verwendet und sind dem Fachmann bekannt.
Es liegt weiterhin im Bereich dieser Erfindung, daß die substituierten Iriarylphosphatzubereitungen (II) als funk tionelle
Flüssigkeitsansätze einzeln oder in Gemischen in wechselnden Anteilen verwendet werden können» Die Zubereitungen
können auch andere Flüssigkeiten enthalten, zu denen zusätzlich zu den Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung Flüssigkeiten
gehören, die von Erdöl stammen, sowie weitere synthetische· Flüssigkeiten einschließlich Alkylenpolymeri-

säten, Polymerisaten des Alkylenoxidtyps, Alkylbenzole,
Dialkylbenzole, Polyphenyle, halogenierte Benzole, halogenierte Alkylbenzole, halogniertes Biphenyl, monohalogenier-te
Diphenyläther, Trialkylphosphinoxide, Diarylalkylphosphonate,
Irialkylphosphonate, Aryldialkylphosphonate, Triarylphosphonate, Iriarylphosphate, Irialkylphosphate
und gemischte Arylalkylphosphate0
Gemische von Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung mit einer oder
mehreren der anderen Flüssigkeiten sind zur Formulierung ·
funktioneller Flüssigkeiten wertvoll, die eine oder mehrere spezifische Eigenschaften haben, wie beispielsweise niedere
Fließviskosität, wie sie für besondere Zwecke erforderlich ist. Zu weiteren Flüssigkeiten, die zur Formulierung derartiger
funkt ioneller· Flüssigkeitsn geeignet sind , gehören
Phosphatester, wie Cresyldiphenylphosphat, .butyldiphenylphosphat,
Dibutylphenylphosphat, Eributylphosphat und Trixylylphosphat, Amide einer Säure -von Phosphor einschließlich
Alkylphosphoramidate und Alkylphosphoramidatef Polyester,
wie Ester von Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit und Trimetholylpropan, Garbonsäureester einschließlich die
dimeren und trimeren Polycarbonsäureester, Qrgano-orthoSilikate,
Aikoxypolysiloxane und Organopolysiloxane, wie
Mmethylpolysiloxan, Methylphenylpolysiloxan, Methylchlorphenylpolysiloxan
und Methyltrifluorpropylpolysiloxan, Arylether und Thioäther einschließlich bis(Phenoxypheny])-äther,
bis(Phenoxyphenoxy)-benzol, bis(Phenoxyphenoxyphenyl )-benzol,

wie 2, 5-(1-Hexyl-1-methylnonyl)-thiopten, 2-tert-Butylthiophen,
2,5-(i-Propylcyclobutyl)-thiophen, 2,4-(i-Methylcyclopentyl)-thiophen
und 2,4-(i-n-Dodecylpentyl)-tiophen,
halogenierte aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Halοgendiphenyläther, Halogenbenzole, Halogenalkylbenzole,
Halogennaphthylene und halogenierte Polyphenyle und von Erdöl stammende Kohlenwasserstofföle.
Bei der Formulierung der funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten für spezifische Zwecke, können die Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung
entweder einen größeren oder geringeren Teil der Gesamt zubereitung ausmachen. Mit anderen Worten, liegt es im
Rahmen der vorliegenden Erfindung, nicht nur weitere Materialien den hier beschriebenen Zubereitungen zuzugeben, um
die Eigenschaften dieser Zubereitungen zu modifizieren, sondern ebenso Zubereitungen der vorliegenden Erfindung
funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten zuzugeben, die einen größeren Anteil irgendeiner anderen Basisflüssigkeit enthalten, um
die Eigenschaften dieses Basisansatzes zu ändern. Derartige Formulierungen werden durch die folgenden beiden Beispiele
(nur zur Erläuterung, ohne Einschränkung) erläutert,

Es wurde festgestellt, daß die oben angegebenen Flüssigkeiten gute Schmierfähigkeit und gute OxidationsStabilität, aufweisen.
Die Flüssigkeiten (f) und (g) erläutern funktionelle Flüssigkeitsformulierungen,in denen die Zubereitungen dieser
Erfindung in einer größeren bzw. geringeren Menge vorhanden sind. Es können daher die Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung
von ungefähr 20 bis 100 Gew<>% der Gesamtflüssigkeit.
ausmachen, und während es im allgemeinen bevorzugt wird, daß die Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung in Mengen von wenigstens
ungefähr 20 Gew.$, bezogen auf das Gewicht der Gesamtflüssigkeit, vorhanden sind, können in manchen Flüssigkeitsformulierungen
so geringe Mengen wie 10 Prozent oder weniger nützlich seine

Die vorausgehenden Beispiele und Zahlenangaben dienen nur der Erläuterung ohne den Erfindungsbereich einzuschränken.
Weitere substituierte Triarylphosphate,neben den hier angegebenen,
die als funktioneile Flüssigkeiten wertvoll sind, können vom Fachmann aufgrund dieser Beschreibung leicht gefunden
werden und derartige Zubereitungen fallen in den Rahmen der vorliegenden Erfindung, da sie von dem allgemeinen
Erfindungsgedanken Gebrauch machen.

Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche:1. Zubereitung gekennzeichnet durch den Gehalt von Phosphorsäureestern der allgemeinen FormelIt■0 - P - 0worin R unabhängig voneinander Wasserstoff, ein C. 18 Alkylrest oder ein Arylalkylrest ist, worin die Arylgruppe durch ein tertiäres Kohlenstoffatom einer G, 1- Alkylbrücke mit dem Molekül verbunden ist, unter der Maßgabe, daß von 2 45 M0I-9& der gesamten R-G-ruppen Alkylreste, von 2-45 MoI-? der gesamten R-Gruppen Arylalkylreste und von ungefähr 50 90 Mol-# der gesamten R-Grüppen Wasserstoff sindo2. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 1 dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die R-Gruppen, die Alkylreste sind, ungefähr 6-12 Kohlenstoffatome und die R-Gruppen die Arylalkylreste sind, eine Alkylbrücke mit 5 ungefähr 7 Kohlenstoffatome haben.3. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 2 dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Alkylreste Nonyl und-30-209829/ 1 152- 30 -die Arylalkylreste Cumyl sind.4. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 2 gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat und JÜTonylphenyldiphenylphosphato5. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 4 dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß das Molarverhältnis Cumylphenyldiphenylpho sphat zu Ifonylphenyldiphenylphosphat ungefähr 2 zu 1 ist.6. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 2 gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat, Monylphenyldiphenylphosphat und Iriphenylphosphato7. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 6 dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß das Molarverhältnis Cumylphenyldiphenylpho sphat zu Nonylphenyldiphenylphosphat ungefähr 2 zu 1 ist.8. Zubereitung gekennzeichnet durch den Gehalt eines Gemischs von Phosphorsäureestern gemäß Anspruch 1 und wenigstens einer anderen flüssigen Komponente, die zur !Formulierung von funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten geeignet ist.9. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 8 dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die andere flüssige Komponente-31-20 9 829/1152ein Phosphorsäureester, Amide einer Säure von Phosphor, Polyester, Garbonsäureester, Organo-orthoSilikate, Alkoxypolysiloxane, Organopolysiloxane, Aryläther und -thioäther, Mono- und Dialkylthiophene, halogenierte, aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe und/oder von Petroleum abstammende Kohlenwasserstofföle enthält.10. Zubereitung gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch von Phosphorsäureester gemäß Anspruch 4 und wenigstens eine andere flüssige Komponente, die zur Formulierung von funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten geeignet ist, enthält.11. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 10 gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat, Honylphenyldiphenylphosphat und Cresyldiphenylphosphat ο12. Zubereitung gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch von Phosphorsäureestern gemäß Anspruch 6 und wenigstens eine weitere flüssige Komponente, wie sie zur Formulierung von funktionellen Flüssigkeiten geeignet ist.13. Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 12 gekennzeichnet du roh ein Gemisch von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat, Wonylphenyldiphenylphosphat, Triphenylphosphat und Cresyldiphenylphosphat.209829/115214· Verfahren zum .Betreiben einer hydraulischen Druckvorrichtung, bei dem eine verdrängbare Kraft auf einem beweglichen Teil mittels einer hydraulischen Flüssigkeit überführt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Flüssigkeit eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 1 verwendet β15. Verfahren zur Schmierung von Metalloberflächen, die im reibenden Kontakt miteinander stehen, wobei eine Schmiermittelzubereitung zwischen den Oberflächen eingebracht wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Schmiermittelzubereitung eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 1 verwendet.16J Substituiertes Triarylphosphat der allgemeinen Formel0
