Die Erfindung betrifft neue l,3,8-Triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dione
der allgemeinen Formel I

Stellt R eine gegebenenfalls durch Halogen substituierte Alkenylgruppe mit 3 oder 4 Kohlenstoffatomen
dar, so handelt es sich z. B. um die Allyl-, eis- oder
trans-2-Butenyl-, 2-Methallyl- oder trans-3-BromalIylgruppe.
Beispiele von gegebenenfalls durch Halogen, Alkyl mit 1 —4 Kohlenstoffatomen oder Halogenmethyl
substituierten Benzylgruppen sind Benzyl, p-Chlorbenzyl,
p-Methylbenzyl oder p-Chlormethylbenzyl. Stellt R
eine Hydroxyalkylgruppe mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen dar, so handelt es sich z. B. um die 2-Hydroxyäthyl-,
3-Hydroxypropyl- oder 4-Hydroxybutylgruppe. Als Methoxyalkyl- oder Äthoxyalkylgruppen mit 1—8
Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkylteil kommen insbesondere Methoxymethyl und Äthoxymethyl in Betracht Beispie-Ie
für die oben genannten Alkanoyloxyalkylgruppen sind die 2-Acetoxyäthyl- und 4-Decanoyloxybutylgruppe.
Stellt R eine der oben angegebenen Äthoxycarbonylalkylgruppen dar, so handelt es sich z. B. um die
Äthoxycarbonylmethylgruppe. Als aliphatische Acylgruppen mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen kommen z. B.
die Acetyl-, Propionyl- und Butyrylgruppe in Betracht.
Unter den erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I sind solche bevorzugt, worin R
eine Alkenylgruppe mit 3 oder 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, eine 2,3-Epoxypropylgruppe, eine Methoxyalkyl- oder
Äthoxyalkylgruppe mit 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkylteil, eine Alkanoyloxyalkylgruppe mit höchstens 10
Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkanoylteil und 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkylteil, eine Acryloyloxyäthyl-, Benzoyloxyäthyl-
oder Toluoyloxyäthylgruppe oder eine Äthoxycarbonylalkylgruppe mit 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen
im Alkylteil bedeutet. Besonders bevorzugt sind Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I1 worin R eine
Allylgruppe, eine Methoxyalkyl- oder Äthoxyalkylgruppe mit 1—4 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkylteil, eine
Alkanoyloxyalkylgruppe mit höchstens 10 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkanoylteil und 1 —4 Kohlenstoffatomen im
Alkylteil, eine 2,3-Epoxypropyl- oder Acryloyloxyäthylgruppe bedeutet.
Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I eignen sich zum Stabilisieren von synthetischen Polymeren
gegen Zersetzung unter der Einwirkung von Licht und Wärme. Der Ausdruck »synthetische Polymere« in dem
hier gebrauchten Sinne umfaßt: Polyolefine, z. B.
Homopolymere von Olefinen, wie Polyäthylen niederer und hoher Dichte, Polypropylen, Polystyrol, Polybutadien
und Polyisopren, Copolymere von Olefinen mit anderen äthylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren, wie
Äthylen-Propylen-Copolymere, Äthylen-Buten-Copoly-
mere, Äthylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymere, Styrol-Butadien-Copolymere,
Acrylnitril-Styrol-Butadien-Copolymere, Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid, z. B.
Homopolymere von Vinylchlorid und Vinylidenchlorid,
Vinylchlorid-Vinylidenchlorid-Copolymere und Copolymere
von Vinylchlorid und Vinylidenchlorid mit Vinylacetat und anderen äthylenisch ungesättigten
Monomeren, Polyacetale, wie Polyoxymethylen und Polyoxyäthylen, Polyester, wie Polyethylenterephthalat,
Polyamide, wie Nylon-6, Nylon-6,6 und Nylon-6,10, und
Polyurethane.
Solche Polymere finden wegen ihrer ausgezeichneten Eigenschaften in der Technik breite Verwendung in
verschiedenen Formen, beispielsweise als Fäden, Fasern, Garne, Filme, Platten, andere Formkörper, Latex
und Schaum. Diese Polymere haben jedoch einige Nachteile, beispielsweise geringe Licht- und Hitzestabilität
So ist beispielsweise bekannt, daß Polyolefine und Polyurethanelastomere häufig unter der Einwirkung
von Licht, wie Sonnenlicht oder UV-Strahlen, zersetzt werden. Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid neigen
häufig zur Zersetzung und Verfärbung unter der Einwirkung von Licht und Hitze, wobei gleichzeitig
Chlorwasserstoff abgespalten wird. Polyamide sind gleichfalls häufig der Photozersetzung unterworfen.
Zum Stabilisieren dieser synthetischen Polymeren gegen Zersetzung ist schon eine größere Zahl von
Verbindungen vorgeschlagen worden; beispielsweise für Polyolefine Benzotriazol- und Benzophenonverbindungen;
für Polyurethane Phenol- und Benzophenonverbindungen; und für Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid
Bleisalze, wie basisches Bleisilikat und dreibasisches Bleimaleat, und organische Zinnverbindungen,
wie Dibutylzinnlaurat und Dibutylzinnmaleat. Diese bekannten Stabilisatoren sind jedoch noch
verbesserungsbedürftig.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I (Stabilisatoren) können den synthetischen
Polymeren auf an sich bekannte Weise gemäß den in der Technik allgemein verwendeten Verfahren einverleibt
werden, und zwar in jeder gewünschten Stufe vor der Herstellung von Formkörpern. So können die Stabilisatoren
beispielsweise in Form trockener Pulver den synthetischen Polymeren beigemischt werden, oder eine
Suspension oder Emulsion des Stabilisators kann mit einer Lösung, Suspension oder Emulsion des synthetischen
Polymeren vermischt werden.
Die Menge des dem synthetischen Polymeren zuzusetzenden lAe-Triaza-T.Z&iMetramethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dions
(Stabilisator) kann in Abhängigkeit von der Art, den Eigenschaften und den besonderen
Anwendungen des zu stabilisierenden Polymeren innerhalb weiter Grenzen variieren. Im allgemeinen
verwendet man die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 5,0 Gewichtsprozent,
bezogen auf das Gewicht des synthetischen Polymeren. Der praktische Bereich kann jedoch je nach
Art des synthetischen Polymeren variieren und beträgt z. B. 0,01 bis 2,0 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,02 bis
ίο 1,0 Gewichtsprozent für Polyolefine, 0,01 bis 1,0
Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,02 bis 0,5 Gewichtsprozent
für Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid, und 0,01 bis 5,0 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,02 bis
2,0 Gewichtsprozent für Polyurethane und Polyamide.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Stabilisatoren können allein oder im Gemisch mit anderen bekannten Antioxidantien, UV-Absorbern, Füllstoffen, Pigmenten oder dergleichen angewandt werden. Beispiele für geeignete Antioxidantien sind:

Die erfindungsgemäßen Stabilisatoren können allein oder im Gemisch mit anderen bekannten Antioxidantien, UV-Absorbern, Füllstoffen, Pigmenten oder dergleichen angewandt werden. Beispiele für geeignete Antioxidantien sind:

Als Beispiele von geeigneten UV-Absorbern seien erwähnt:

Gewünschtenfalls können auch Gemische verschiedener Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I eingesetzt
■to werden.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I können durch Umsetzung einer Verbindung
der allgemeinen Formel II oder eines Alkalimetallsalzes davon mit einem Halogenid der allgemeinen
Formel R-Xi gemäß folgendem Reaktionsschema hergestellt werden:

In den obigen Formeln hat R die unter Formel I angegebene Bedeutung und Xi stellt ein Halogenatom
dar. Die Umsetzung kann so vorgenommen werden, daß man eine stöchiometrische Menge des Halogenids
R-Xi zur Ausgangsverbindung der allgemeinen Formel II, die gegebenenfalls in Wasser oder einem
geeigneten organischen Lösungsmittel, wie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol oder Dimethylformamid gelöst oder
suspendiert ist, hinzufügt und das Reaktionsgemisch bei Raumtemperatur stehen läßt oder unter Rückfluß
erhitzt. Wenn die Ausgangsverbindung der allgemeinen Formel II in Form einer freien Base vorliegt, so wird die
b5 Umsetzung zweckmäßig in Gegenwart einer anorganischen oder organischen Base, die als säurebindendes
Mittel wirkt, durchgeführt. Geeignete Basen sind z. B. Alkalimetallcarbonate oder tertiäre Amine. Liegt die
Ausgangsverbindung der allgemeinen Formel Il in Form eines Alkalimetallsalzes vor, so kann die Reaktion
in Abwesenheit eines säurebindenden Mittels unter milden Bedingungen durchgeführt werden.
In den folgenden Beispielen sind Teile Gewichtsteile, sofern nichts anderes angegeben ist Die Beispiele 1 und
2 beschreiben die Herstellung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I. Die Beispiele 3—10 beschreiben
die Anwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I zum Stabilisieren verschiedener synthetischer in
Polymerer gegen Photo- und thermische Zersetzung.
3-{2- Propinyl)-1 3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethylspiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion
Zu einem Gemisch von 2,6 g des Kaliumsalzes von 13,8-Triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-spiro[4>5]riecan-2,4-dion
und 1,2 g 2-Propinylbromid werden 10 ml Dimethylformamid
hinzugefügt, und das erhaltene Gemisch wird 5 Stunden auf 60—7O0C erhitzt Nach Abschluß der
Reaktion wird das Reaktionsgemisch eingeengt, und der Rückstand wird in Benzol gelöst Die Benzollösung wird
eingeengt, und die so abgeschiedene kristalline Substanz wird aus wäßrigem Äthanol umkristallisiert, wobei man
das gewünschte Produkt in Form weißer Kristalle erhält; Schmelzpunkt 156-157°C; Ausbeuie 87,0%
d.Th. 3C

3-(2,3-Epoxypropyl)-13,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-2>4-dion
Zu einer Lösung von 2,4 g Natriumhydroxid in 100 ml Wasser werden 11,3g l,3,8-Triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethylspiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion
hinzugefügt, und das erhaltene Gemisch wird bis zur Bildung des entsprechenden Natriumsalzes in situ gerührt. Das das Salz enthaltende
Gemisch wird mit 5,5 g Epichlorhydrin versetzt und 6 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Nach Beendigung
der Reaktion wird die in situ gebildete kristalline Substanz abfiltriert, mit Wasser gewaschen und
getrocknet, wobei das gewünschte Produkt als rohe kristalline Substanz anfällt. Diese wird anschließend in
150 ml Benzol gelöst, und die erhaltene Losung wird filtriert, um unlösliche Bestandteile abzutrennen. Das
Filtrat wird abgekühlt, wobei sich eine kristalline Substanz abscheidet, die dann durch Filtration gewonnen
wird. Dabei erhält man das gewünschte Produkt in reiner Form als weiße Kristalle, die bei 168,5 bis 169,6° C
schmelzen; Ausbeute 42,5% d. Th.

In 100 Teile Polypropylen (zweimal aus Monochlorbenzol umkristallisiert) werden ie 0.25 Teile der unten
angegebenen Stabilisatoren (Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I, die mit denselben Buchstaben bzw.
Nummern der Beispiele wie im Vorangehenden bezeichnet werden) eingearbeitet. Das erhaltene Gemisch
wird durchmischt und geschmolzen und dann unter Erhitzen und Druck zu einer 0,5 mm dicken Platte
verformt. Als Kontrolle wird auf dieselbe Weise eine Polypropylenplatte ohne Zusatz von Stabilisator hergestellt.
Die so erhaltenen Platten werden unter Ultraviolettbestrahlung bei 45°C in einem Fadeometer
auf ihre Briichigkeitszeit geprüft, d. h. die Zeit, in Stunden ausgedrückt, bis die Testplatte brüchig wird.
Als Fadeometer wird ein Gerät verwendet, das den Anforderungen gemäß Kapitel 3,8 des Japanese
Industrial Standard 1044-L entspricht.
Auf äfiälügc WciSc Werden die unten angegebenen
Prüfverbindungen in Polyäthylen hoher Dichte eingearbeitet, dieses zu Platten verformt und anschließend auf
die beschriebene Weise geprüft. Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle I zusammengefaßt.
In 100 Teile Polystyrol (aus einem Gemisch von Benzol und Methanol umkristallisiert) werden je 0,25
r, Teile der unten angegebenen Prüfverbindungen eingearbeitet.
Das erhaltene Gemisch wird bei 180°C unter Druck zu 1 mm dicken Platten verformt. Die so

Hilfe eines Farbunterschied-Kolorimeters, entsprechend Japanese Industrial Standard K-7103, auf die
eingetretene Farbveränderung geprüft. Diese Farbveränderung wird als Gelb-Index nach der folgenden
Gleichung berechnet:

Dabei bedeuten ΔΥΙ die Veränderung des Gelb-Index,
YI den Gelb-Index nach der Bestrahlung und YIo den Gelb-Index der unbehandelten Platten. Die
Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle II zusammengefaßt.

In 100 Teile ABS-Harz (Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol-Copolymeres)
werden je 0,5 Teile der unten angegebenen Prüfverbindungen eingearbeitet. Das erhaltene
so Gemisch wird während 6 Minuten bei 160° C auf einer
Knetwalze geknetet und dann zu 0,5 mm dicken Platten verformt Die so gebildeten Platten werden wie unten
beschrieben gealtert, worauf man deren Reißdehnung in % der Ausgangsdehnung und deren Reißfestigkeit in %
der Ausgangsfestigkeit nach üblichen Methoden bestimmt
1. 50 Stunden Belichtung in einem Sonnenschein-Kohlelichtbogenapparat gemäß Japanese Industrial
Standard JIS Z-0230, Kapitel »Accelerated Weathering
Test of Rust Proofing Oils«, Paragraph 2.
2. Alterung während 30 Minuten bei 19O°C in einem
GeCT1S Alterungstestgerät, beschrieben in Japanese
Industrial Standard JIS-K-6301 unter dem Kapitel
»Physical Testing Methods for Vulcanized Rubber«, Paragraph 65.
Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle III zusammengestellt

In 100 Teile Nylon-6 werden je 0,25 Teile der unten angegebenen Prüfverbindungen eingearbeitet. Das
erhaltene Gemisch wird erhitzt und geschmolzen und dann unter Druck zu 0,1 mm dicken Folien verpreßt. Die
erhaltenen Filme werden wie unten angegeben gealtert und dann auf ihre Reißdehnung in % der Ausgangsdehnung
und ihre Reißfestigkeit in % der Ausgangsfestigkeit geprüft.
Alterungstest
1. Bestrahlen mit UV-Licht während 200 Stunden bei 45° C in einem Fadeometer, wie er in Beispiel 3
beschrieben ist.
2. Alterung während 2 Stunden bei 160°C in einem Geer's Alterungsgerät wie in Beispiel 5 beschrieben.
Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle IV zusammengestellt.

Fadeometer mit UV-Licht bestrahlt wie in Beispiel 3 beschrieben und dann wie in Beispiel 5 beschrieben auf
ihre Reißdehnung in % der Ausgangsdehnung und ihre Reißfestigkeit in % der Ausgangsfestigkeit geprüft Die
Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle V zusammengefaßt

gealtert und dann auf ihre Verfärbung untersucht

In 100 Teile Polyesterharz werden je 1 Teil Benzoylperoxid und 0,2 Teile der unten angegebenen
Prüfverbindungen eingearbeitet. Das erhaltene Gemisch wird zuerst während 60 Minuten auf 6O0C erhitzt,
worauf man das vorerwärmte Gemisch unter Verformung zu einer 3 mm dicken Platte während 1 Stunde bei
1000C härtet Die so erhaltenen Platten werden
während 60 Stunden wie in Beispiel 5 beschrieben in einem Sonnenschein-Kohlelichtbogenapparat belichtet.
Anschließend wird die Veränderung des Gelb-Indexes wie in Beispiel 4 beschrieben bestimmt Die Ergebnisse
sind in Tabelle VII zusammengefaßt
Alterungstest
1. 200 Stunden Belichtung in einem Sonnenschein-Kohlelichtbogenapparat
wie in Beispiel 5 beschrieben.
2. Altern während 30 Minuten bei 1600C in einem
Geer's Alterungsgerät wie in Beispiel 5 beschrieben.
Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle VI zusammengefaßt.

In 100 Teile Polyacetal-Harz werden je 0,5 Teile der
unten angegebenen Prüfverbindungen eingearbeitet. Das erhaltene Gemisch wird erhitzt, bei 2200C
geschmolzen und dann in der Atmosphäre durch Erhitzen auf 222°C während 30 Minuten gealtert.
Anschließend wird der Grad der Reduktion in der Zersetzung bestimmt Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle
VIII zusammengefaßt

Die obigen Beispiele 3—10 zeigen, daß erfindungsgemäße
Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I eine bemerkenswert hohe Stabilisatorwirkung gegen Photo-
und thermische Zersetzung von verschiedenen synthetischen Polymeren ausüben.
Claims (7)
1.1,3,8-Triaza-7,7.9,9-tetramethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dione
der allgemeinen Formel I

worin
R eine Alkenylgruppe mit 3 oder 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, die durch Halogen substituiert sein kann, die
2-Propinylgruppe, eine Benzylgruppe, die durch Halogen, Alkyl mit 1 —4 Kohlenstoffatomen oder
Halogenmethyl substituiert sein kann, eine Phenäthylgruppe, eine Hydroxyalkylgruppe mit 2—4
Kohlenstoffatomen, eine Methoxyalkyl- oder Äthoxyalkylgruppe mit 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen im
Alkylteil, eine Vinyloxyäthyl-, Phenoxyäthyl- oder Methylthioäthylgruppe, eine Alkanoyloxyalkylgruppe
mit höchstens 10 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkanoylteil und 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkylteil,
eine Acryloyloxyäthylgruppe, eine Benzoyloxyäthyl- oder Toluoyloxyäthylgruppe, eine 2,3-Epoxypropylgruppe,
eine Dimethylaminoäthylgruppe, eine Äthoxycarbonylalkylgruppe mit 1—8 Kohlenstoffatomen
im Alkylteil oder eine aliphatische Acylgruppe mit 2—4 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet.

3.3-Äthoxymethyl-1,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion.
4.3-(2-Acetoxyäthyl)-l,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethylspiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion.
5.3-(4-Decanoyloxybutyl)-1,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyI-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion.
6. 3-(2-Acryloyloxyäthyl)-1,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethylspiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion.
7.3-(2,3-Epoxypropyl)-1,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyI-spiro[4,5]decan-2,4-dion.
