Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Chlorierungsprodukten der Dichlor-9-thiabicyclononane
der allgemeinen Formel
Cl
in der ;i eine ganze Zahl von 3 bis 7 bedeutet.
Zur Herstellung dieser Verbindungen setzt man ein Cyclooctadien mit Schwefelmono-, di- oder -tetrachlorid
bei einer Temperatur von etwa —40 bis 150 C
in einem inerten Lösungsmittel zu (>V~Dichlor-9-thiabicyclononan
um, das weiter mit η Äquivalenten Chlor kernchloriert wird.
Die bei der Umsetzung des Cyclooctadiens mit dem Schwefelchlorid erhaltenen Dichlor-9-thiabicyclononane
werden am besten durch die folgenden isomeren Strukturen dargestellt, in denen die Kohlenstoffatome,
die an der Schwefelbrücke gebunden sind. durch zumindest 2 Kohlenstoffatome getrennt und
X und X' Chloratome sind.

Das ,i./-Dich]or-9-thiabicycJononan wird durch
eine neue Ringbrückenbildungsreaktion hergestellt, wobei ein Schwefelchlorid, vorzugsweise Schwefeldichlorid.
mit einem Cyclooctadien. beispielsweise Cyclooctadien-ll.5). Cyclooctadien-O.-l) oder Cyclooctadien-(1.3).
umgesetzt wird.
Die Reaktion, die zu den Verbindungen führt, für
welche X und X' Chloratome bedeuten, ist überraschend und unerwartet, insbesondere als das so
gebildete Ringsystem unter Spannung steht, und. wie gefunden wurde, hochgradig reaktiv ist.
Cyclooctadien-n.5) ist auf Grund der besonders
hohen Ausbeute und der erzielten Reinheit des erhaltenen Produkts, seiner Wohlfeilheit (durch Dimerisation
von Butadien erhältlich) und der ausgeprägten Brauchbarkeit der erhaltenen Produkte das bevorzugte
Cyclooctadien. Es ist auch möglich, das 1.3-Dien und die 1,4-Diene zu verwenden, doch sind diese
weniger bevorzugt, da sie kostspieliger sind und auch eine geringere Ausbeute und ein verhältnismäßig
weniger reines Produkt ergeben. Die Reaktion eines Schwefelchlorids mit Cyclooctadien-n.5) ist völlig
neu. da sie das erste bekannte Beispiel einer Schwefelchloridreaktion mit einem nicht konjugierten Dien
unter Ringschluß und das erste Beispiel einer solchen Reaktion zur Einführung einer Schwefelbrücke über
einen großen Ring zur Bildung eines bicyclischen
Systems ist.
Es wird angenommen, daß das Umsetzungsprodukt.
von Schwefeldichlorid mit Cyclooctadien-(1.5) hauptsächlich
ein Isomerengemisch darstellt, wobei kleine Mengen eines anderen Isomeren vorhanden sind.
Es kommen daher zwei wahrscheinliche Strukturen in Betracht, wie sie durch die folgenden Formeln
gezeigt sind.

Es wurde gefunden, daß diese beiden Isomeren leicht während irgendeiner Reaktion ineinander überführbar
sind, z. B. durch bloßes Lösen in einem ionisierenden Lösungsmittel, auf Grund der bekannten
Tendenz von /i-Chlorsulfiden, im Gleichgewicht mit
den entsprechenden Sulfoniumchloriden mit dreigliedrigem Ring zu sein, wie es von Fuson und
Mitarbeiter, J. Org. Chem. 11,476 und von Marvel
und W e i I, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 76, 61, beschrieben ist.
Das Gleichgewicht scheint das folgende zu sein:

Wegen dieser Uberführbarkeit der zwei Ringsysteme ineinander ist es schwierig, wenn nicht
unmöglich, das Umsetzungsprodukt dem [3.3.I]- oder
dem [4.2.1]-Sj stern zuzuschreiben. Viele der Rohprodukte
zeigen nämlich, daß sie aus Gemischen beider Isomeren bestehen, wenn auch ein Isomeres
vorherrschen kann.
Die Herstellung der ./.,»'-Dichlorthiabicyclononane
erfolgt durch Vermischen des Cjclooctadiens mit
Schwefeldichlorid. Dies wird am zweckmäßigsten in !0
llüssiger Phase vorgenommen, doch kann es auch in der Dampfphase erfolgen. Die Reaktion ist exotherm.
und die Reaktionskomponenten sollten daher durch langsame Zugabe der einen zu der anderen oder vorzugsweise
von beiden zu einem gemeinsamen Losungsmittel vermischt werden. Geeignete Lösungsmittel
sind alle diejenigen, die gegenüber Schwefeldichlorid und Cjclooctadien praktisch inert sind. Zu
diesen gehören Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Toluol. Benzol. Hexan. Cj clohexan. Chlorkohlenstoffe und Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe,
wie Tetrachlorkohlenstoff. Äthylendichlorid. Trichloräthjlen. Perchloräthylen. Chlorbenzol.
Äther, wie Diäthyläther. oder andere bekannte
Lösungsmittel, wie Schwefelkohlenstoff. Thionylchlorid.
Acetonitril. Essigsäureanhydrid. Acetylchlorid. Nitromethan. Nitrobenzol oder Dimethylformamid.
Die Reaktionstemperatur beträgt etwa —40 bis 150 C. doch liegt der bevorzugte Bereich zwischen
etwa —20 und etwa HXJ C. Es ist besonders zweckmäßig. Reaktionstemperaturen in der Nähe der
Raumtemperatur anzuwenden und die Reaktion mit Hilfe eines Wassermantels des Reaktionsgefaßes unter
Verwendung von ebenfalls bei Raumtemperatur befindlichem Wasser zu kühlen.
Die Reaktion verläuft sehr rasch und ist im allgemeinen innerhalb einiger Sekunden bis einiger
Stunden nach dem Vermischen der Reakticnskomponenten je nach der Temperatur beendet. Ein Katalysator
ist daher nicht erforderlich. Die Reaktion kann jedoch gegebenenfalls durch Zugabe von Lewissäuren
(z. B. FeCl3). Jod oder Peroxiden oder durch Einwirkung
von Licht katalysiert werden.
Schwefeldichlorid ist zwar die bevorzugte Reaktionskomponente,
doch kann auch Schwefelmonochlorid verwendet werden. Die Verwendung von Schwefelmonochlorid führt jedoch zu einem komplexeren
Reaktionsgemisch, wodurch mühsame Reinigungsstufen erforderlich sind. Schwefeltetrachlorid
kann ebenfalls verwendet werden, wobei dann geringe Mengen an 9-Thiabicyclononan mit mehr als 2 Chloratomen
je Molekül gebildet werden.
Das Dichlorprodukt wird im allgemeinen durch Filtrieren bei Verwendung eines verhältnismäßig
weniger guten Lösungsmittels oder durch Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels, wobei das Produkt als Rückstand
verbleibt, isoliert. Das Produkt kann in diesem technischen Reinheitsgrad verwendet oder weiter
gereinigt werden, am zweckmäßigsten durch Umkristallisieren aus einem Lösungsmittel, wie beispielsweise
den oben als Reaktionslösungsmittel genannten.
Zunächst wurden zur Herstellung von Dichlor-9-thiabicyclononan
1296 Teile Cyclooctadien-(1,5) und
1236 Teile Schwefeldichlorid aus getrennten Gefäßen
gleichzeitig zu 1500 Teilen Flexan unter Rühren und Kühlen auf etwa 10 bis 20:C zugegeben. Nach beendeter
Zugabe wurde das Gemisch 1 Stunde gerührt. Die Feststoffe wurden durch Filtrieren abgetrennt,
wobei nach dem Trocknen gefunden wurde, daß diese 1295 Teile eines Produktes vom F. fOÜ bis 101 C
enthielten. Weitere Funktionen, insgesamt zusätzlich 725 Teile, wurden durch teilweises Verdampfen
und Kühlen gewonnen. Diese Fraktionen schmolzen im Bereich von 89 bis 98 C. Durch Umkristallisieren
aus Benzol -Heptan erhielt man eine farblose kristallisierte Festsubstanz von F. 102 bis 103 C.

105.5 Teile des DicbIor-9-thiabicjclononans wurden
in 2(KX) Teilen Tetrachlorkohlenstoff gelöst und gasförmiges Chlor unter Rückfluß und Bestrahlung
mit einer Quecksilberdampflampe eingeleitet. Proben wurden entnommen, wenn jeweils molare Mengen
Chlorwasserstoff in einer Falle gesammelt waren, und die Proben im Vakuum zur Abtrennung des
Lösungsmittels eingedampft. Es wurden so amorphe Festsubstanzen mit verschiedenen ansteigenden Chlorgehalten
erhalten.

Im allgemeinen haben die erfindungsgemäß erhältlichen Verbindungen fungicide Wirksamkeit, wobei
einige von ihnen überragend wirksam und den bisherigen Fungiciden in dieser Hinsicht weit überlegen
sind. Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen sind auch als Herbicide, bakteriostatische Mittel,
Insekticide. MilbenbekämpfungsmitteL Nematocide und als chemische Zwischenprodukte wertvoll.
Claims (2)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Chlorierungsprodukten der DichIor-9-thiabicyclononane der
allgemeinen Formel

dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zunächst ein Cytfoocfadien mit Schwefelmono-,
di- oder -tetrachlorid bei einer Temperatur von —40 bis 150" C in einem inerten Lösungen? ittd

9-thiabicycIononan mit π Äquivalenten CIiIo?

2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Cycloocladien 1,S- odfc
U-Cyclooctadien verwendet.
