Description
Für eine Anzahl von Zwecken besteht ein Bedarf für Kautschuke mit niedrigem Modul. Eine steigende
Nachfrage für derartige Kautschuke besteht bei der Herstellung von nicht quietschenden Reifen für Personenfahrzeuge.
Es wurde festgestellt, daß saure Gasruße, insbesondere zerriebene Ruße mit niedriger
Struktur, bei der Verwendung als Verstärkungsmittel beim Kompoundieren von Kautschuk eine markante
Verminderung des Moduls der gehärteten Masse ergeben. Jedoch verzögern diese sauren Gasruße bei
der Verwendung bei gebräuchlichen Kompoundierverfahren häufig die Härtung.
Die Erfindung betrifft nun die Verwendung von 0,5 bis 2,5 Teilen je 100 Teile Polymer von Aziridinylverbindungen
der allgemeinen Formeln

Erfindungsgemäß werden Kautschukmaterialien mit niedrigem Modulwert hergestellt. Es war nun
schon bekannt, daß saure Gasruße für diesen Zweck geeignet sind, diese Ruße hatten jedoch die unangenehme
Eigenschaft, daß sie die Härtungszeit erheblich verzögerten. Erfindungsgemäß wurde nun gefunden,
daß dieser Nachteil durch die Verwendung der vorstehend spezifizierten Aziridinylverbindungen
erfolgreich überwunden werden konnte. Aus der USA.-Patentschrift 2 925 407 (vgl. insbesondere
Spalte 2, Zeilen 20 und 21) ist es bekannt, rußhaltige ungesättigte Kautschukpolymerisate in Gegenwart
von Peroxyden und Stoffen, wie Hexahydro-trisacryloyl-triazin, zu vulkanisieren. Bei diesem Verfahren
wird nun als einziger Ruß ein HAF-Ruß erwähnt, der einen pH-Wert von 8 und höher besitzt.
Mit einem derartigen Ruß können jedoch keine Kautschukmassen mit niedrigem Modulwert hergestellt
werden.
Die Materialien, welche zur Verbesserung der Eigenschaften erfindungsgemäß behandelt werden
können, sind natürlicher Kautschuk und synthetische, kautschukartige Polymere von konjugierten Dien-Monomeren.
Zu diesen Polymeren zählen auch Homopolymere von konjugierten Dienen mit 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise die Polymeren
von konjugierten Dienen mit 4 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen je Molekül, wie z. B.:

Von diesen werden Butadien, Isopren und Piperylen bevorzugt, Darüber hinaus gehören zu geeigneten
Materialien Copolymere der oben aufgeführten konjugierten Diene mit Verbindungen, welche eine Vinylidengruppe
enthalten, wie z. B. Isobutylen, Styrol, p-Methoxystyrol, Vinylnaphthalin, Vinyltoluol,
heterocyclische stickstoffhaltige Monomere, wie z. B, Pyridine und Chinolinderivate, welche mindestens
eine Vinyl- oder a-Methylvinylgruppe enthalten, wie z. B. 2-Vinylpyridin und 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridin,
Acrylsäure^ und Alkacrylsäureester, wie z, B, Methylacrylat, Äthylacrylat und Methylmethacrylat, Methylvinyläther,
Vinylchlorid, Vinylidenchlorid u, dgl, Polymere, welche sauren Gruppen in der Polymerenkette enthalten, wie z. B, die Polymeren von Acrylsäure
oder Methacrylsäure, die mit Dien-Monomeren copolymerisiert sind, können ebenfalls mit diesem
System gehärtet werden. Die Erfindung ist auch auf das Kompoundieren und Härten von gesättigten
kautschukartigen Polymeren, wie z. B, Äthylen-Propylen-Polymeren,
Polyisobutylen u. dgl. anwendbar. Die erfindungsgemäß verwendbaren aziridinyl-sub='
stituierten Verbindungen sind die 1 -Aziridinyl-1,3,5-triazine,
1 - Aziridinyl - 2,4,6 - triphospha -1,3,5 - triazine,
Tn-(I- aziridinyl) - phosphinoxyde und Tri -. (1 - aziridinyl)-phosphinsulfide.

Die Menge an angewandtem organischen Peroxyd liegt im Bereich zwischen 0,1 bis 10,1 Teilen je
Teile Polymeres, wobei 0,25 bis 7,5 Teile je Teile Kautschuk bevorzugt werden.
Die Menge an saurem Gasruß, welche als Verstärkungsmittel verwendet wird, liegt im allgemeinen
im Bereich zwischen 20 und 100 Gewichtsteilen je

100 Teile Polymerem, wobei etwa 40 bis 60 Teile bevorzugt werden.
Die Gasruße besitzen einen pH-Wert im Bereich zwischen 2 und 6. Verriebene Gasruße mit sauren
Eigenschaften können verwendet werden. Unter dem Ausdruck »verriebene Gasruße« sind Gasruße zu
verstehen, welche einer scharfen mechanischen Behandlung unterworfen worden sind, wobei die sekundären
Aggregate zerstört wurden.
Der pH-Wert der erfindungsgemäß verwendeten Gasruße wird nach dem modifizierten ASTM-Verfahren
D-1512-57 T bestimmt, indem 25 ml Wasser je Gramm Gasruß an Stelle von 10 ml verwendet
werden und die Heizperiode auf 10 Minuten abgekürzt wird, worauf das Wasser auf Raumtemperatur
abgekühlt und der pH-Wert unter Verwendung eines Beckman-pH-Meters gemessen wird.
Die Einverleibung des sauren Gasrußes und der anderen Bestandteile des Ansatzes in den Kautschuk
wird auf einer Walzenmühle, in einem Kautschuk-Mischer oder durch irgendein ähnliches bekanntes
Verfahren durchgeführt. Die Aziridinyl- und Peroxydmaterialien können direkt zu dem Kompoundieransatz
zugegeben werden, oder sie können auf dem sauren Gasruß vor dessen Einverleibung in den
Kautschuk aufgetragen werden, indem z. B. der Ruß mit einer Kohlenwasserstofflösung des Zusatzes
behandelt wird.
Die Härtungs- oder Reaktionstemperatur kann innerhalb eines weiten Bereiches variieren, z. B.
zwischen 93 und 260° C, obwohl im allgemeinen eine Temperatur im Bereich von 127 bis 177° C
angewandt wird. Ebenfalls kann die Zeit beträchtlich zwischen einigen Minuten bis einigen Stunden variieren,
obwohl üblicherweise eine Härtungszeit zwischen 20 und 150 Minuten angewandt wird.
Durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren können flüssige, halbfeste und feste Polymere in vulkanisierte,
kautschukartige und vernetzte Kunststoffprodukte übergeführt werden. Zu der großen Vielzahl
von Polymerenmassen, die so erhalten werden können, gehören Materialien, die als Klebstoffe, Gießmassen,
Laufflächenmassen und für verschiedene Arten von geformten Gegenständen geeignet sind.
Das folgende Beispiel dient zur weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung, ohne sie jedoch zu beschränken.
Ofengasruß wurde in der Kugelmühle zu einem zerriebenen Gasruß mit einem pH-Wert von 4,5
vermählen. Der saure Gasruß wurde mit Hexa-[1 -(2-methyl)-aziridinyl]-triphosphatriazin (HMAT)
in verschiedenen Konzentrationen behandelt. Das HMAT wurde in Toluol gelöst und mit dem getrockneten
Gasruß in Gasflaschen unter Stickstoff durch Schütteln in einem Bad bei einer Temperatur von
50° C während 24 Stunden in Berührung gebracht. Die Gasruße wurden von der Lösung durch Zentrifugieren
abgetrennt, worauf sie in einem Vakuumofen während 24. Stunden bei 1050C getrocknet
wurden. Etwa 95% HMAT wurden durch den Gasruß aufgenommen. Die Daten der Behandlungsstufe
sind in Tabelle I aufgeführt.

. Diese behandelten Gasruße wurden zum Kompoundieren
von cis-Polybutadien in einem Peroxydansatz verwendet, wobei ein unbehandelter Gasruß
unter Verwendung desselben Ansatzes als Kontrolle kompoundiert wurde. Die angenäherten Werte des
bei den Versuchen angewandten Polybutadiens waren wie folgt: cis-Gehalt 96%, trans-Gehalt 1,2%, Vinylgehalt
2,8%, Mooney-Wert (ML-4 ® 100° C) 45 und Eigenviskosität von 2,35. In dem Kompoundieransatz
war das organische Peroxyd bis-(a,a'-Dimethylbenzyl)-peroxyd (Dicup 40C) enthalten, welches
dem Polymeren mit dem Gasruß auf einer Walzenmühle einverleibt wurde. Sämtliche Massen wurden
bei 152° C gehärtet. Die Werte dieser Versuche sind in Tabelle II aufgeführt.

Aus diesen Werten ergibt sich, daß die verriebenen 65 festigkeiten erhalten werden, wobei die Modul-Werte
Ruße den Modul signifikant erniedrigen und daß bei erniedrigten Höhen bleiben. Die Hysteresis-
mit steigenden Mengen von Hexa-[l-(2-methyl)- Werte (Δ T) sind sehr signifikant erniedrigt, wenn
aziridinyl]-triphosphatriazin zufriedenstellende Zug- die Menge des Behandlungsmittels gesteigert wird.
Unter dem Ausdruck »Kautschuk mit niedrigem Modul« sind Kautschuke mit einem Modul von
weniger als 84,4 kg/cm2 zu verstehen, wenn cis-Polybutadien-
oder Styrolbutadien-Copolymere zur Anwendung kommen und ein Modul von weniger als
70,3 kg/cm2, wenn Äthylen - Propylen - Copolymere verwendet werden.
