DEUTSCHES
Die Erfindung betrifft neue verbesserte Schmiermittel mit ausgezeichneten reinigenden und verschleißvermindernden
Eigenschaften, welche eine geringe korrodierende Wirkung gegenüber Metallen, insbesondere Kupfer, ausüben
und innerhalb eines weiten Temperaturbereiches, vor allem bei hohen Arbeitstemperaturen und großer
Belastung, oxydationsbeständig sind.
Diese besonderen Eigenschaften werden erhalten durch eine synergistische Kombination von zwei Zusatzstoffen,
welche einem Schmieröl in kleinen Mengen einverleibt werden.

und einer anderen ungesättigten polymerisierbaren Verbindung, welche als Substituent eine oder mehrere polare
Gruppen mit einem nichtmetallischen negativen Atom der Gruppen V und VI des Periodischen Systems aufweist.
Die zweite ungesättigte polymerisierbare Verbindung kann auch eine oder mehrere andere polare
Gruppen als Substituenten gebunden enthalten, welche erst in dem fertigen Mischpolymerisat durch an sich bekannte
Maßnahmen, wie Hydrolyse oder Alkoholyse, in polare Gruppen der gekennzeichneten Art umgewandelt
werden. Der polare Substituent soll vorzugsweise an ein Äthylenkohlenstoffatom oder ein diesem direkt benachbartes
Kohlenstoffatom geknüpft sein.
Diese Mischpolymerisate können auch charakterisiert werden als lineare Kohlenwasserstoffketten mit einer
größeren Zahl daran gebundener polarer und nichtpolarer Substituenten. Sie weisen vorzugsweise ein
Molekulargewicht zwischen 1500 und 50 000 und insbesondere
zwischen 4000 und 15 000 auf. Es ist vorteilhaft, wenn das Molverhältnis des a-Olefins und der
anderen polymerisierbaren Verbindung in dem Mischpolymerisat zwischen 1:5 und 5 :1 beträgt.
Der zweite Zusatzstoff in den erfindungsgemäßen verbesserten Schmiermitteln ist eine öllösliche organische
Verbindung, die Phosphor und/oder Schwefel enthält. Verbindungen dieser Art sind als Schmiermittelzusatz
an sich bekannt.
Das Mischpolymerisat wird vorzugsweise in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent und insbesondere
von 0,1 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Gesamtmischung, verwendet. Der zweite Zusatzstoff wird
vorzugsweise in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die gesamte Mischung, zugegeben.
Geeignete a-Olefine für die Darstellung der Mischpolymerisate
sind solche, die wenigstens 10 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Vorzugsweise weisen diese 10 bis 40
und insbesondere 12 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatome auf. Unter a-Olefinen werden solche Olefine verstanden, die eine

Diese Olefinverbindungen können beispielsweise nach
an sich bekannten Verfahren durch die Krackung von Paraffinwachsen erhalten werden.
Die polaren Gruppen in der zweiten polymerisierbaren Verbindung sind funktionelle Reste, die beispielsweise
N, P, O oder S enthalten. Vorzugsweise weist ein solches nichtmetallisches mehrwertiges Atom eine Ordnungszahl
zwischen 7 und 8 auf. Geeignete polare Gruppen sind beispielsweise — N — R — N— ,-XR,- CXXH,
— CN, -SCN, -NR2, -COONR2 und—CONR2,
worin R Wasserstoff oder ein Kohlenwasserstoffrest und X Sauerstoff oder Schwefel ist. Bevorzugte polare
Gruppen sind die folgenden: —OH, —COOH, —CN,
— CONR2 und —NH2. Zusätzlich zu den genannten
Substituenten können auch andere Gruppen, beispielsweise niedrigmolekulare Kohlenwasserstoffreste und andere
polare Gruppen oder Atome, beispielsweise Halogenatome wie Fluor-, Chlor- und Bromatome, an die Kohlenwasserstoffkette
des Mischpolymerisats gebunden sein.

Dihexylsäurethiophosphat, Laurylbenzylthiophosphat,
Butyltrichlormethanphosphonsäure sowie die Reaktionsprodukte von Olefinen, wie Polybuten und
P2S5.
Geeignete Beispiele für die beschriebenen Reaktionsprodukte und Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung werden im
folgenden aufgeführt.
Etwa 4 Mol Balsamöl (gum spirits) aus Terpentin wurden unter Rühren auf etwa 121° erhitzt, worauf
1 Mol P2S5 anteilweise zugegeben und die Temperatur
der Mischung auf etwa derselben Höhe gehalten wurde, bis alles Phosphorpentasulfid zugegeben war. Die Temperatur
wurde anschließend auf 135 bis 149° erhöht und die Mischung bis zur Beendigung der Schwefelwasserstoffentwicklung
weiterreagiert. Bei der Analyse zeigte das erhaltene Produkt einen Gehalt von 12,8 °/0 Schwefel
und 4,81 % Phosphor.
Ein anderes Produkt wurde durch Erhitzen von 4 Mol a-Pinen mit 1 Mol P2S5 auf 115,5° bis zur gesamten Zugabe
des letzteren hergestellt. Nach der Zugabe des Phosphorpentasulfids wurde die Reaktionstemperatur
auf etwa 149° erhöht und die Mischung bis zur vollständigen Beendigung der Reaktion auf dieser Temperatur
gehalten. Bei der Analyse zeigte das erhaltene Produkt 12,7% Schwefel und 4,62% Phosphor.
Die phosphor- und schwefelhaltigen Verbindungen der beschriebenen Art können auch durch Umsetzung einer
organischen Verbindung, beispielsweise von Olefinpolymeren oder Alkylphenolen, mit einem Schwefelhalogenid
erhalten werden, z. B. Schwefelchlorid, worauf das Produkt anschließend mit einer Phosphorverbindung,
wie P2O5, zur Reaktion gebracht wird.
An Stelle von Phosphorverbindungen oder zusätzlich können organische Sulfide verwendet werden, beispielsweise
Alkyl- und/oder Arylsulfide, von denen die letzteren bevorzugt sind. Geeignete Vertreter dieser Verbindungsklasse
sind Äthylen-bis-(tolylsulnd), Amidophenyloxyphenylsulfid,
Bisphenolsulfid, Dilaurylsulfid und Wachsdisulfid.
Je nach Wunsch können die Sulfide ganz oder teilweise durch Salze organischer Sulfonsäuren ersetzt werden,
beispielsweise durch Metallsalze (Na, Ca, Ba, Ni, Zn, Al) der Erdölsulfonsäure, Diwachsbenzolsulfonsäure, Diisobutylenphenolsulfonsäure
und Mischungen daraus.
Die Zusatzkombination gemäß der Erfindung ist zur Herstellung verbesserter Schmiermittel auf der Basis der
verschiedensten natürlichen und synthetischen Kohlenwasserstoffschmieröle wirksam. Beispielsweise kann ein
Kohlenwasserstofföl mit weitem Viskositätsbereich, z. B. von 100 SUS bei 37,8° bis 150 SUS bei 98,9° verwendet
werden. Die Kohlenwasserstofföle können mit fetten Ölen, wie Rizinus- oder Specköl usw., verschnitten sein. Es
können ihnen allein oder zusammen mit den fetten ölen auch synthetische Schmiermittel zugesetzt werden, wie
polymerisierte Olefine, Mischpolymerisate von Alkylenglykolen und -oxyden, organische Ester mehrbasischer
organischer und anorganischer Säuren, z. B. Di-2-äthylhexylsebacat,
Dioctylphthalat, Trioctylphosphat. Auch polymeres Tetrahydrofuran und polymere Polyalkylsilicone,
z. B. polymeres Dimethylsilicon, sind geeignet. Je nach Wunsch können diese synthetischen Schmiermittel
auch als einziges Schmieröl verwendet werden, oder man kann sie mit fetten Ölen und deren Derivaten
vermischen.
Für die erfindungsgemäßen Schmiermittel besonders geeignete Mineralschmieröle, die auch als Grundlage für
die Versuchsmischungen verwendet wurden, werden aus Westtexas-Ellenburger-Rohölen erhalten. Ein daraus
hergestelltes raffiniertes Öl zeigte die folgenden Eigenschaften :

Um die besonders günstigen Eigenschaften der erfindungsgemäßen Schmiermittel augenscheinlich zu
machen, z. B. hinsichtlich der Verhinderung der Ventilverstopfung, des Festfressens, der Schlammbildung, des
Korrosionsverschleißes und der Oxydationsverminderung, insbesondere unter Hochtemperaturbedingungen,
wurden die verschiedensten Versuche durchgeführt. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse sind in einer Tabelle zusammengestellt.

Die erfindungsgemäßen Schmiermittel können auch in Form von Schmierfetten vorliegen, indem man die Schmierölbasis
mittels einerSeif e oder eines anorganischen Kolloids, wie Kieselsäuregel, bis zur Fettkonsistenz verdickt.
Es sind bereits Mischpolymerisate als Zusatzstoffe für Schmiermittel beschrieben, welche zwar auch durch eine
lineare Kohlenwasserstoffkette charakterisiert werden können, wobei die Substituenten aber nur polarer Natur
sind. Diese Polymerisate üben auch keine synergistische Wirkung aus, wenn sie zusammen mit einer öllöslichen,
Phosphor und/oder Schwefel enthaltenden Verbindung verwendet werden. Vielmehr wird ihre reinigende und
verschleißvermindernde Eigenschaft durch den Zusatz eines sulfurierten Terpens verschlechtert.
Claims (12)
1. Schmiermittel, bestehend aus einem Schmieröl und a) einer kleineren Menge, vorzugsweise 0,01 bis
10 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Gesamtmischung, eines oder mehrerer öllöslicher Mischpolymerisate mit
einem Molekulargewicht über 1000, aus einem a-01efin
mit mindestens 10 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül und einer anderen ungesättigten polymerisierbaren Verbindung,
welche als Substituent eine polare Gruppe mit einem nichtmetallischen, negativen Atom der
Gruppen V und VI des Periodischen Systems oder eine polare Gruppe aufweist, die in dem Mischpolymerisat
anschließend durch Hydrolyse, Alkoholyse oder andere bekannte Maßnahmen in eine polare Gruppe
der angeführten speziellen Art umgewandelt werden kann, sowie b) einer kleineren Menge, vorzugsweise
0,01 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Gesamtmischung, einer an sich als Schmiermittelzusatz bekannten,
öllöslichen Phosphor und/oder Schwefel enthaltenden Verbindung.
2. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das öllösliche Mischpolymerisat ein
Molekulargwicht zwischen 1500 und 50000, vorzugsweise zwischen 4000 und 15000, aufweist.
3. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Molverhältnis des a-Olefins zu
der ungesättigten polymerisierbaren Verbindung in dem Mischpolymerisat zwischen 1:5 und 5:1 beträgt.
4. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das cc-Olefin vorzugsweise an die
10 bis 40 Kohlenstoffatome im Molekül aufweist.
5. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das zur Mischpolymerisat-
herstellung verwendete α-Olefin α-Tetradecen, α-Hexadecen
oder a-Octadecen ist.
6. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das öllösliche Mischpolymerisat
aus einem α-Olefin und Acrylamid, Acrylnitril oder einem Homologen davon hergestellt ist.
7. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das öllösliche Mischpolymerisat
aus einem α-Olefin und einem Vinylhalogenid oder Vinylester, wie Vinylacetat, hergestellt ist und bei
welchem die Halogenid- oder Estergruppen in OH-Gruppen umgewandelt wurden.
8. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die öllösliche Phosphor und/oder
Schwefel enthaltende Verbindung einen Rest einer anorganischen Säure von Phosphor oder eine Sulfidoder
Sulfonatgruppe oder irgendeine Kombination dieser Gruppen aufweist.
9. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die öllösliche organische, Phos- ao
phor und/oder Schwefel enthaltende Verbindung in Form eines Metallsalzes vorliegt.
10. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die öllösliche organische, Phosphor
und/oder Schwefel enthaltende Verbindung ein Reaktionsprodukt zwischen einem Phosphorsulfid, wie
P8S5, und einem Olefin oder Terpen ist.
11. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die öllösliche organische, Phosphor
und/oder Schwefel enthaltende Verbindung das Salz eines organischen sauren Phosphats oder TMophosphats
oder ein Erdölsulfonat ist.
12. Schmiermittel nach Anspruch 1 bis 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Schmieröl mittels einer Seife
oder eines anorganischen Kolloids, beispielsweise Kieselsäuregel, bis zur Schmierfettkonsistenz verdickt
wird.
