Abstract
RESUMEN DE LA INVENCIÓN En el presente documento se proporcionan plantas de maíz sumamente transformables, denominadas plantas HI-NA, y métodos para su producción y uso. Una planta HI-NA, como se desvela en el presente documento, es homocigota para un alelo mutante de pérdida de función en el gen de la fosfolipasa A2α de tipo patatina (MATL) y al menos heterocigota para uno o más alelos de los QTL y/o de los genes que son responsables del aumento de la inducción de haploidía y/o la frecuencia de transformación en las plantas. Una planta HI-NA, como se desvela en el presente documento, también puede tener un acervo de citotipo A, que puede hacerla sumamente transformable. También se proporcionan métodos para producir plantas HI-NA y métodos para usar una planta HI-NA para editar ADN genómico vegetal.
