Abstract
Methods for using genetic marker genotype to improve the process of developing plant varieties with improved performance are provided. Methods for selecting essentially homozygous breeding lines useful for the production of hybrid progeny with an agronomically desirable trait are provided. The invention further relates to methods for producing such homozygous plants and to hybrid seeds obtained by crossing such homozygous parental plants and to plants grown from said seeds.
