Algunas de las plantas semienanas descritas comprenden al menos una mutación braquítica no natural en la cual se reduce la actividad de un gen BR2. También se describen métodos para producir una planta de maíz semienana mediante el uso de un sistema de edición genómica a base de CRISPR.
