Abstract
一种热敏记录材料,其在彩色显影中具有高敏度,高背景白度,且影像保持能力和耐热性极佳。此热敏记录材料包含以通式(1)表示的二羟基二苯基砜化合物作为有机彩色显影剂,并含3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷作为无色碱性染料(下式中,R1和R2都表示C1-8烷基、链烯基,或者卤素;p和q是0—3的整数)。
Description
发明领域
本发明涉及热敏记录材料,此材料具有良好彩色显影敏度、极佳的本底色白度、良好的影像保持能力和强耐热性。
已有技术描述
一般来说,热敏记录材料具有感热彩色显影层,此层主要由无色或淡色的碱性无色染料和彩色显影剂组成,当加热时显影剂与所说的碱性无色染料反应显出彩色,这在日本专利公报45-14039中已公开,并以商业规模被广泛应用。装有热打印头的热打印机用作所说的热敏记录材料的记录手段。这种热敏记录方法由于在记录过程中无噪声、不需要显影和定影、维修方便、设备比较便宜和紧凑,以及得到的影像很清楚,因而优于通常的记录方法,因此随着信息产业的扩展,这种方法广泛应用于传真和计算机领域、各种测量仪器和打标签机。附在这些设备上的记录装置正变得更为多样化,性能更高,因而所需的热敏记录材料的品质也变得更严格。随着设备的小型化和要求更高的记录速度,需要得到深色的和清楚的彩色显影影像。而且,要求感热记录纸更接近普通纸的特性。就是说,例如有极好的白度,本底色的色彩在高温高湿条件下很淡,显影的有色部分褪色很少。
为了迎合所说的要求,例如,在日本专利公开公报56-169087中,公开了将热熔化物质加入热敏层以改善彩色显影敏度的方法,在日本专利公开公报56-144193中,公开了采用具有高彩色显影能力的新彩色显影剂以改善彩色显影敏度的方法。然而,不能说这些方法具有足够好的品质,因为它们有遇热本底色变坏、老化产生粉末和长期保存后彩色密度(翻印能力)下降等缺点。
作为常被用作彩色显影剂的化合物,除了酚型化合物之外,还可提到砜型或水杨酸型化合物。然而这些化合物自身不仅耐热和耐湿性不够,而且当与敏化剂一起使用时,耐热和耐湿性进一步变坏。在本发明中用作有机彩色显影剂的二羟基二苯基砜化合物是一种熟知的化合物,然而,它的彩色显影能力低,因而难以满足现代的高敏度要求。而且,当制备热敏记录层涂层时,涂层自身的有色问题便出现了,因此难以获得本底色白度方面优越的热敏记录材料。
发明内容
本发明的目的是提供一种热敏记录材料,它具有高彩色显影能力和极佳的本底色白度,而且具有极好的影像保持能力和强耐热性。
本发明的发明者已进行深入细致的研究,并已发现在含无色或淡色碱性无色染料和有机彩色显影剂作为主要组分的热敏记录层的热敏记录材料中,当其热敏记录层包含至少一种以下通式(1)表示的二羟基二苯基砜型化合物,并包含3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷作为碱性无色染料时,上述目标可以达到,由此完成了本发明。式中,R1和R2指碳数为1~8的烷基或链烯基,或者卤素原子,p和q是0~3的整数。
一般地说,人们认为,涂层中包含的物料在水中部分溶解,而溶解的物料与染料反应而引起着色。例如,含4,4′-二羟基二苯基砜的热敏记录材料白度就被显著变坏。其有关原因是由于4,4′-二羟基二苯基砜含有使碱性无色染料显色并易于在水中溶解的二个-OH基,因而分子的极性比较高。而且,当碱性无色染料研磨得越细时,白度的变坏就更显著。通过本发明者深入细致的研究,发现结合使用3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷作为碱性无色染料可以明显地阻止涂层着色,并阻止热敏记录材料白度变坏,即使碱性无色染料磨细也是这样。该原因尚不清楚,但猜想是因为3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷的溶解度小于1.349×10-6g/l所至,这是很低的溶解度。
实施本发明的最佳实施方案
例如,本发明的热敏记录介质可用下面的方法制造,即制备碱性无色染料、彩色显影剂的分散液,用粘合剂来分散,然后加入填料和其它需要的添加剂并混合。这样制备成热敏彩色显影层涂料。制得的涂料涂布在基底上并干燥,由此形成热敏彩色显影层。碱性无色染料与彩色显影剂所要求的混合比是1~6份彩色显影剂对1份染料,若混合比在所说的范围内,彩色显影敏度与本底色耐热性可很好地均衡。
本发明中,包括以通式(1)表示的二羟基二苯基砜化合物作为有机彩色显影剂。在下文提到了通式(1)的具体例子。然而,并不意味着只限于这些化合物。这些化合物可以单独用或加合使用。
4,4′-二羟基二苯基砜,

3,3′,5,5′-四甲基-4,4′-二羟基二苯基砜,

4-羟基苯基-3′-异丙基-4′-羟基苯基砜,
二(3-乙基-4-羟基苯基)砜,
2,2′-二(对-叔丁基苯酚)砜,
2,2′-二(对-叔戊基苯酚)砜和
2,2′-二(对-叔辛基苯酚)砜。
在这些化合物中,优选使用4,4′-二羟基二苯基砜,因为所得到的热敏记录材料的特性能很好地均衡,特别是在高温高湿条件下影像保持极好。
在本发明中,碱性无色染料和彩色显影剂的平均粒度没有限制,但是当碱性无色染料3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷的平均粒度小于0.5μm时,彩色显影敏度和耐热性便得到改善。更合乎需要的平均粒度是小于0.4μm。一般来说,当染料的粒度越小,它就越易溶于水,染料与彩色显影剂之间的反应性便改善,因为这些化合物以分子状态存在,但这又会引起研细的染料着色问题。但是在3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷的情形下,这种问题并不发生,可以获得高品质的热敏记录材料。原因虽尚不完全清楚,但认为是因为其对水的溶解度很低的缘故。
本发明中,在不妨碍所要求的效果的原则下,可以使用通常熟知的敏化剂。作为敏化剂的具体例子,可以是下面提到的化合物,但是并不意味着只限于这些化合物。这些化合物可以单独用或加合使用。

对-甲苯磺酰胺可以提及以上这些,但不意味着只限于这些。这些敏化剂可以单独用或加合使用。
使用敏化剂有时会使耐热和耐湿性显著变坏。因此使用敏化剂基本上是不合要求的,如果需要使用,必须仔细选择其品种。
本发明中用作粘合剂的如下:
完全皂化的聚乙烯醇,其聚合度是200~1900,
部分皂化的聚乙烯醇,
羧基改性的聚乙烯醇,
酰胺改性的聚乙烯醇,
磺酸改性的聚乙烯醇,
缩丁醛改性的聚乙烯醇,
其它改性的聚乙烯醇,
羟乙基纤维素,
甲基纤维素,
羧甲基纤维素,
乙基纤维素,
纤维素衍生物,如乙酰纤维素,
聚氯乙烯,
聚乙酸乙烯酯,
聚丙烯酰胺,
聚丙烯酰胺酯,
聚乙烯醇缩丁醛,
聚苯乙烯和此类共聚物,
苯乙烯-马来酸一氢化物共聚物,
苯乙烯-丁二烯共聚物,
硅氧烷树脂,
石油树脂,
萜烯树脂,
酮树脂和
苯并呋喃树脂可以提及以上这些。这些高聚物物质可通过溶解于溶剂,如水、醇、酮类、酯类和烃类而使用,或者在需要时可以以水乳液状态或糊状使用。
而且,在本发明中,在不妨碍上述所要求效果的原则下可以加入显示记录影像耐油作用的下列物质作为影像稳定剂:
4,4’-亚丁基(6-叔丁基-3-甲基苯酚),
2,2’-二叔丁基-5,5’-二甲基-4,4’-磺酰二苯酚,
1,1,3-三(2-甲基-4-羟基-5-环己基苯基)丁烷,
1,1,3-三(2-甲基-4-羟基-5-叔丁基苯基)丁烷,
4-苄氧基-4’-(2,3-环氧-2-甲基丙氧基)二苯基砜和
环氧树脂。
本发明中可使用一些物质作为填料,无机或有机填料可以提及如硅石、碳酸钙、高岭土、煅烧高岭土、硅藻土、滑石、二氧化钛或氢氧化铝。而且可以用增滑剂,如蜡类,紫外线吸收剂,如二苯甲酮型或三唑型化合物,防水剂如glioxasal,分散剂,消泡剂,抗氧化剂和荧光染料。
关于本发明热敏记录材料要使用的彩色显影剂和碱性无色染料的量,它们和其它添加物配合的品种和量,按所要求的质量和记录特点来决定,并不加以限制。然而,一般地优选对每份本发明的彩色显影剂使用0.5~4份填料。合乎需要的粘合剂量是固体总量的5~25%。
将由上述组分组成的涂料涂布在基底,如纸、再生纸、合成纸、胶片、塑料薄膜、泡沫塑料片或无纺布的表面上,获得所要求的热敏记录材料。由上述材料组成的复合片也可以用。
为了改善保存性,在热敏彩色显影层上可涂上由高聚物构成的保护层。而且,为改善彩色显影敏度,在热敏层之下可施加一层由含填料的高聚物构成的底层。前述的有机彩色显影剂、碱性无色染料及视需要而加的其它添加剂都用研磨机或适当的乳化设备研磨成直径小于几个微米的细颗粒,然后实际使用。精细粉碎的方法没有限制,但通常是将碱性无色染料和彩色显影剂等物料用水和粘合剂分散成均匀的悬浮液,然后用球磨机、碾磨机、立式砂磨或卧式砂磨来研磨。
此外,视需要加入粘合剂和其它的添加剂便制成涂料。涂布的方法没有限制,但可用通常熟知的方法涂布,例如,可以优选使用在机外以各种涂布器,如气刀涂布器、棒式刮片涂布器、扁嘴式刮片涂布器或辊涂布器等涂布加工,或者在机上涂布加工。
实施例
本发明的热敏记录材料将以实施例更具体地加以说明。但并不意味只限于这些实例。在实例和比较例中所用“份”均指重量份。
[实例1]
按下面的配方,染料和彩色显影剂的分散液分开在湿的状态下用砂磨研磨至平均粒子直径为1.0μm。平均粒度指用Master粒度分挡拣理器S测量的以体积计累加50%时的直径,此仪器是MALVERN有限公司的产品。
<彩色显影剂的分散液>
4,4’-二羟基二苯基砜 6.0份
聚乙烯醇10%水溶液 18.8份
水 11.2份
<染料分散液>
3-二-正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷
(商品名:BLACK 305,Yamada试剂有限公司产品)2.0份
聚乙烯醇10%水溶液 4.6份
水 2.6份
混合下述的化合物,得到热敏层的涂料。将所得涂料涂布在55g/m2的高等级纸面上并干燥,涂布量是6g/m2,所得的片子用特级砑光机处理,使Beck平滑度达200~600秒,由此得到热敏记录材料。

[实例2]
方法与实例1相同,只是改变染料分散液中染料平均粒度至0.5μm,由此得到热敏记录材料。
[实例3]
方法与实例1相同,只是改变染料分散液中染料平均粒度至0.3μm,由此得到热敏记录材料。
[实例4]
方法与实例1相同,只是用与实例2相同的染料分散液,并按下面所述改变掺混比,由此得到热敏记录材料。

方法与实例1相同,只是将3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷换成3-(N-乙基-N-异戊基氨基)-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷(S205;平均粒度是1.0μm),由此得到热敏记录材料。
[比较实例2]
方法与比较实例1相同,只是改变染料分散液中染料平均粒度至0.5μm,由此得到热敏记录材料。
[比较实例3]
方法与比较实例1相同,只是改变染料分散液中染料平均粒度至0.3μm,由此得到热敏记录材料。
[比较实例4]
方法与比较实例1相同,只是将3-二正戊基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷改为3-二正丁基氨基-6-甲基-7-苯胺基荧烷(ODB2;平均粒度是0.3μm),由此得到热敏记录材料。
[比较实例5]
方法与实例2相同,只是将彩色显影剂由4,4’-二羟基二苯基砜改为4,4’-异亚丙基二苯酚,由此得到热敏记录材料。
测量上述实例和比较实例中获得的热敏记录介质的下述质量特性,获得的结果总结在表1和2中。括号中的数字指掺混的份数。
[影像密度]
在制得的热敏记录介质上进行热敏记录,用UBI打印机201(UBI的产品),印压能量是18mJ/mm2和26mJ/mm2。打印出的部分影像密度用Macbeth密度计(使用RD914号滤光片)测量。
[本底色白度]
样片的未彩色显影部分的白度用Hunter白度测定器(Tokyo SeikiSeisakusho的产品,蓝滤光片)测量。
[耐热性]
用UBI打印机201(UBI产品)以26mJ/mm2印压能量进行彩色显影的样片置于80℃大气压下24小时,然后用Macbeth密度计测样片的影像密度,样片未彩色显影部分的白度用Hunter白度测定器(TokyoSeiki Seisakusho产品,蓝滤光片)测量。
[耐湿热性]
用UBI打印机201(UBI产品)以26mJ/mm2印压能量进行彩色显影的样片和未彩色显影的样片置于40℃和90%湿度大气压下24小时,用Macbeth密度计测彩色显影部分的影像密度,用Hunter白度测定器测未彩色显影部分的白度。

如同由表1和表2的结果清楚看出的那样,满足本发明要点的实例1到6,在彩色显影密度、本底色白度、耐热性与影像保持能力等方面达到极佳平衡。特别是,染料的平均直径被限制到小于0.5μm的实例2和3显示出高彩色显影密度,而且未观察到白度变坏。同时,使用S205作为染料的比较实例1至3在彩色显影密度、本底色的耐热性和耐湿热性等方面较差。使用0.3μm ODB2的比较实例4在本底色白度、白部分的耐热性和耐湿热性方面较差。而使用4,4’-异亚丙基二苯酚作为彩色显影剂的比较实例5在彩色显影部分和白色部分的耐热性均较差。
以工业规模使用的可能性
本发明已获得有高白度,在高温高湿状态下本底不着色,彩色显影部分不褪色,且长期保存下很稳定的热敏记录材料。
