Waterproof watch. Most winding crowns for waterproof watches known at present have the drawback that the elastic sheath with which they are provided follows any movement of the rotation of the crown either during winding or during the time setting of the watch. .
Given the inevitable inaccuracies in the manufacture of the various elements related to the crown, namely. centering of the crown barrel, drilling and tapping of said barrel, fixing of the tube on the rim, centering of the winding stem with respect to said tube, drilling of the elastic sheath, this results in appreciable variations in the alignment of these elements and the elastic sheath is not stressed uniformly over its entire periphery.
The friction to which it is subjected when winding and setting the time tends to wear it down in the places where it is used the most, which after some time leads to a lack of sealing of said crown.
The present invention aims to. remedy these drawbacks. Its object is a waterproof watch, the re-mount crown of which has a cavity on the bottom of which protrudes a threaded barrel into which the end of the re-mount rod is screwed. The watch, object of the invention, is characterized by an annular closing member, metal, maintained in contact with the bottom of said cavity by an elan = tick sheath fitted outside the casing tube, said sheath being coated. in a metal sleeve and compressed axially. inside the crown by a washer fixed to said crown.
The drawing 'represents, by way of example, three embodiments and a variant of the waterproof watch according to the invention.
Figs. 1 to 3 are cuts, by the axis of the winding stem, of the three embodiments.
Fig. 4 is a view of the variant. Referring more particularly to FIG. 1, we see in. 1 a part of the case in which is mounted a tube S. The crown 3, in which is drilled a cavity 4, carries a threaded barrel 5, into which the end of the winding stem 6 is screwed.
The outer diameter of said barrel is a little smaller than the inner diameter of said tube in order to allow compensation for manufacturing inaccuracies and to avoid any friction. An elastic sheath 7 is held in said cavity by a. washer 8 set at 9 in said crown. Said sheath is pierced in the center of a hole of diameter slightly smaller than the outer diameter of said tube in order to press tightly on the tube and to remain fixed with it during any rotary movement of the crown.
A sheath 10, consisting of a thin cylindrical metal strip, coats the sheath so as to avoid any deformation thereof during an axial displacement of the crown relative to said tube. The dimensions of the sheath are provided so as to leave it play laterally inside the cavity 4, as well as in height between the crimped washer 8 and the bottom 11 of said cavity.
A closing ring 12, metallic, annular and narrower than the sheath 7 so as not to come into contact with either the 4th tube 2 or with the sheath 10, is pressed against the key base of the cavity 4 by said sheath: surface - of the crimped washer 8 in contact with the sheath 7 has a circular projection 13 concentric with said washer in order to ensure contact between said sheath and said washer, despite differences in height of the closing ring, of the sheath and said washer resulting from imprecisions in the manufacture of these different parts.
When winding the watch; the sheath 7 and the sheath 10 remain fixed with the tube 2. In addition, the closing ring 12 is kept immobile by the sheath due to a coefficient of friction greater between the sheath 7 and the closing ring 12 than that between said closing ring and the bottom 11 of the cavity 4 of the crown. During winding, only the crown and the set ron delle 8 turn. It is the same when setting the time.
The only friction imposed on the sheath is a pivoting on the crimped washer and an axial sliding on the-tube 2 during the passage of the crown from the winding position to that of setting the time and vice versa, but it does not undergo any axial friction, for example internal on the tube, or external on the crown.
If the rod 6 and the tube 2 are offset as a result of manufacturing inaccuracies, the sheath 7 is not subjected to any further stress. This simply results in a sliding of the meture iron ring 12 on the bottom 11 of the cavity 4 in addition to the pivoting. This friction effect can be reduced by rectifying the contacting surfaces of the closure ring and the crown.
In the second form -d'execution (freezes 2), the pivoting between the sheath 7 and the. crimped washer 8 is removed by interposing a clamping washer 14 between these two parts. This washer will remain stationary with the sheath 7 for the same reasons as the closing ring 12. The pivoting, during reassembly or setting the time, will take place between the washers 14. and 8. The washer 1.4 has a circular projection 15 similar to that of the crimped washer 8 in the first embodiment. Finally, the sheath and the annular closure member have come from manufacture in a single metal part 18, forming a cap.
An identical cap could be provided in the first embodiment instead of the elements 10 and 12. The third embodiment (pin 3) differs from the second only by the fact that the clamping washer and said cap occupy respective positions rotated by 180 around an axis perpendicular to that of the crown, with respect to the positions of these organs in fig 2.
The washer 14 'is therefore in contact with the bottom 11 of the cavity 4 of the crown 3. As for the bottom of the cap 18', it is in contact with the washer 8, along a surface reduced by an annular milling 19. As in the second embodiment, a circular projection 15 'is provided on the ron delle 14'.
It is clear that the sheath 7, in this embodiment, will remain fixed relative to the tube 2, for the same reasons as in the previous embodiments.
In a variant (pin 4), the sleeve 10 is elastic and, for this purpose, split lengthwise at 16. Such a sleeve compensates for possible variations in the diameter of the tube 2 and of the sheath 7, and provides compression predetermined elastic sheath. A finger 17, provided on the closing ring 12 and possibly on the washers 14 or 14 ', and engaged in the slot 16 of said ring furnace, guarantees the immobility of said rings or washers with respect to the sheath and the furnace, during any winding or time-setting operation.
