Device for attaching and setting the time to a waterproof watch.
Manual winding of the watch is usually done by rotating the crown protruding from the boot. I1 is necessary, in waterproof watches, to ensure a perfect seal of the joint appearing between this crown and the case.
It has been proposed, for this purpose, to block the crown against the case when the watch is not wound, for example by providing, on the crown, a screw pitch which takes on a corresponding pitch of the case. It is then possible to accommodate two sealing packages between the crown and parts integral with the box; one ensuring tightness during reassembly and the other improving this tightness when the crown is blocked.
It is necessary to provide a disengagement between the crown and the winding stem so that the movement for locking the crown on the case is without effect on the movement of the watch,
There are known constructions in which a tube integral with the crown has a bore of polygonal section over a part of its length, in which an element of the same section can be engaged and integral with the winding stem. A helical spring, placed between the crown and the boot, causes the displacement of this first when it is unscrewed and allows the coupling of sections of polygonal section.
In other embodiments, which also include a spring
helical, the coupling is made between an integral element
of the rod, comprising projections and a sleeve integral with the
crown having grooves intended to receive these projections.
The presence of the coil spring is a complication during
of the assembly. This spring can also deteriorate, either by
breaks, either by deformation or by oxidation and thus jeopardize the proper functioning of the winder.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing show in section by way of example, an embodiment respectively a variant of the object of the invention.
In FIG. 1, the index 1 designates a part of a wristwatch boot, on which is fitted a tube 2 comprising an annular projection 3 and a thread 4. The crown 6 has, extending inside its bore, a threaded tube 7, a thread 8 and a portion of bore 9 whose diameter is slightly greater than that of the annular projection 3.
A first sealing package 10, housed in the crown, in the vicinity of the threaded tube 7, is immobilized by a ring 11 forced into the crown. A second package 12 is placed partly between the annular projection 3 and the thread 4 of this tube.
The tube 7 of the crown is extended by a sleeve 13 screwed onto it. This sleeve has a cylindrical bore 14, a cylindrical bore 15 of larger diameter and a thread 16. A sleeve 17 partially threaded and whose outer diameter is equal to that of the sleeve 13 in which it is screwed, has a bore 18 and a opening 19 of square section.
The winding stem comprises two parts, one 20, integral with the movement and the other 21 screwed onto the part 20, penetrating into the sleeve 13, having a cylindrical section 22, a section of square section 23, of the same dimension as the opening 19, a second cylindrical section 24 and a second section of square section 25 the diagonal of which is equal to the diameter of the bore 14 of the sleeve 13.
A ring 26 formed of two juxtaposed crown sectors is housed between a bearing surface of the sleeve 13 and one end of the sleeve 17; it surrounds the section 24.
When the crown is screwed onto the boot, the various members occupy the position shown in FIG. 1. Sealing is then ensured by the pressures of the package 10 disposed between a part 5 of the tube 2 and the body of the crown and again by the package 9, part of which is disposed between one face of the projection 3 and a bearing surface of the body of this crown. The square section 23 occupies the bore 18 of the sleeve 17 and the square section 25 occupies the bore 14 of the sleeve 13.
When the crown is unscrewed, it moves away from the tube 2 until the moment when the square section section 23 enters the opening 19 of the same section. The crown and the stem are then integral in rotation; we can therefore wind the watch spring.
For this winding position, the left face of the ring 26 grazes the right face of the square section section 25 so that if the crown is pulled in order to set the time, the ring 26 drives the stem to wind up.
A first push on the crown brings it back to the reassembly position, 26 separating from 25, and a second push separates the square 23 from the opening 19, which allows the crown to be screwed onto the tube.
In the variant shown in FIG. 2, the sleeve 27, corresponding to the sleeve 13 in FIG. 1, is machined in the crown.
This design is particularly suitable for the production of small crowns.
In an embodiment not shown, the square section sections of the rod could be replaced by polygonal section sections, the bores of the sleeve and of the cap being adapted to these shapes.
