Waterproof winder for timepiece
In order to improve the sealing of timepieces, it has already been proposed to block the winding crown on the case, outside of times of use. This locking can be achieved by providing in the crown a thread corresponding to a threaded part of the pendant. In addition to the normal seal, it is thus possible to compress an additional axial seal when the crown is blocked.
For example, the seal is housed between a groove of the pendant and a sleeve fixed in the bottom of the crown, while the axial seal is compressed in a groove of the crown by a rim of the pendant.
The special shapes that must have the crown on the one hand and the pendant on the other hand make the production of such waterproof crowns relatively complicated.
The present invention aims precisely to remedy this drawback and relates to a waterproof winder for a timepiece, the crown of which can be screwed onto the pendant, comprising a sleeve integral with the crown, a stem holder tube and sealing means constituted by an axial seal and by a compressible radial seal arranged around the sleeve, in a recess of the pendant, characterized in that the axial seal is fixed by gluing on part of the sleeve and that the radial seal is axially retained and kept compressed by a tension ring whose inside diameter is approximately equal to that of the hole in the pendant below the recess.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section of the winder in the winding position, while FIG. 2 shows the same winder in the crown locking position.
The inside of the crown 1 is machined so as to form on the one hand a central recess 2 in which the coil spring 3 is housed and on the other hand a housing 4 in which the upper part 5 of a sleeve is forced. the lower part is dimensioned so as to surround the rod holder tube 6 and to engage freely with the pendant 7.
The lower internal part of crown 1 is threaded and can be screwed onto the pendant 7.
The seal is obtained by means of a radial gasket 8 made of compressible material, placed in a recess of the pendant 7 and held by means of a tension ring 9, the internal diameter of which is approximately equal to that of the hole in the pendant, above the recess. The radial lining 8 is thus almost completely surrounded on three of its faces, so that any abnormal deformation of the lining is avoided.
When the crown is screwed in, the axial seal 10, which is fixed by gluing on the surface delimiting the upper and lower parts 5, is compressed between the latter and the pendant 6.
The coil spring 3 is disposed between the bottom of the recess 2 and a flange 11 of the rod holder tube 6. This flange 11 is of polygonal section and engages in a corresponding polygonal opening 12 of the sleeve 5, under the action of spring 3, when the crown is screwed down.
In the position shown in FIG. 1, the seal is obtained only by the gasket 8 which remains compressed thanks to the tension ring 9.
It goes without saying that joints of different cross-section from those shown in the drawing could also be used advantageously.
