Device ensuring the tightness of a watch case in the place where it is crossed by a control member. In most of the devices which ensure the tightness of a watch case, at the point where it is crossed by a control member, one uses, as in the gland devices, a flexible and elastic material package that axial compression tends to apply against the two side walls -du annular channel to be closed.
As the package is most often already compressed aaialement, while it is in contact only with one, of the side walls of the channel, that is to say before fitting the control unit. , it follows that, when the assembly of said member is made to slide on the package the part which constitutes the second side wall of this channel, it frequently happens that the material of the package, pushed back by said part, is clamped between the part that slides on the package and the part that retains it axially,
thus preventing the correct positioning of the control member. Sometimes even, the package thus pushed back risks being cut by ales parts with sharp angles with which it can come in contact and the pieces thus detached then penetrate in the watch.
The present invention relates to a positive device ensuring the sealing of a watch case at the location. the latter is traversed by a control member and comprising an annular package of non-metallic material.
This device makes it possible to avoid the aforementioned drawbacks, by the fact that the radial thickness of the package, that is to say the distance between its two lateral surfaces, only one of which is cylindrical over the entire height, is reduced at least to that of the ends of the package towards which the material of the package is forced during assembly of the control member, said cylindrical side surface being that which is in contact with the part to which the package is attached.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the invention, as well as variants of detail. The left part of the fi-. 1 shows a first embodiment; The right part of fig. 1 shows a second embodiment; Fig. 2 shows a third embodiment. FIGS. 3 to 5 show detail variants.
With reference to FIG. 1, the case of mon tre 1 carries, at the place where the winding stem 2 passes, a barrel 3 which crowns the crown 4. The latter is hollowed out and fixed on the winding stem 2 by its barrel 5, of so that in the winding position shown in the drawing, the barrel 3 of the case comes into contact with the bottom of the recess in the crown.
In the empty cylindrical space of the crown located between the barrel 3 and the side wall 6 of the latter is housed the package, which is compressed therein either by means of a washer 7 crimped on the opening of the crown. (left part of fig. 1), or by means of a nut 8 screwed into the crown (right part of fig. 1).
This package is here constituted by two washers 9 and 10 of flexible and elastic material, for example "Plexiglas", one of which 9 has a sufficient thickness to be in tight contact with both the wall 6 and the wall. barrel 3, while the other 10, of lesser thickness, does not come into contact with the barrel 3 and leaves between it and this last a free space 11, in which the material 12 of the part 9 can be housed, forced during assembly of the control unit.
In this way, there is no risk of this excess material being pinched between the barrel 3 and the bottom of the crown and the control member can correctly assume its normal operating position.
In this embodiment, the paque tage remains integral with the crown.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, we have shown how to accommodate a package in the middle of the box 1. The principle is .in this case the same as that described with reference to .the first embodiment, the washers 9 and 10, constituting the package, and the free space 11 playing the same roles respectively; on the other hand, the package remains integral with the box, when the control member is introduced.
If, in this embodiment, the package were only made up of a single washer of constant section, the bead 12, formed by the material forced when the control member was introduced, would risk being cut. between the ridges 13 of the barrel 3 and the ridge 14 of the interior bearing surface of the package. Any parcel of material that is thus detached from the package could then enter the. watch.
In this embodiment, the paque tage remains integral with the. build.
The package could also be made in one piece as shown in fig. 3. In this case, it comprises a cylindrical part 9a and a part of increasing cross section 10a (right part of FIG. 3) or two cylindrical parts 9a and lüa superimposed (left part of FIG. 3).
As shown in fig. 4, for variants corresponding to those described with reference to FIG. 3, the cylindrical surface over the entire height of the package could be the interior surface, the bead then being formed by pushing back the exterior part of said bead. package and from bottom to top in the case shown.
It could also, as shown in FIG. 5, provide a package the radial thickness of which is reduced at both ends. This case naturally also applies by analogy to the examples described with reference to FIG. 3.
When it is desired to avoid that, during use, the rounded part of the barrel 3 comes into contact with the cylindrical part 9 of the package, it is possible to provide in the crown facing the barrel 3 a sufficiently deep recess, so that the 'rounded end can be accommodated therein, the package then being held between the shoulder. thus constituted and its clamping member 1 or 8.
Instead of creating a special recess for the end of the ca non 3, it is also possible to place in the bottom of the recess in the crown a metal or other ring of corresponding height.
In this way, during axial displacements of the crown, the package remains in contact only with the cylindrical part of the barrel.
It is clear that part 9 as well as part 10 of the package could each consist of several superimposed parts.
The control member could be constituted by a chronograph pusher.
