Additional patent to main patent no. 272570. Process for the production of a Tetrakisazofarbatoffes. It has been found that a valuable tetrakisazo dye is obtained if 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylamine-7,7'-disulfonic acid is mixed with diazotized 4-amino-4'-oxy -1. , 1'-azobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid and on the other hand with dianotized 4-amino-2,5-dimet.hoxy-4'-oxy -5'-methy 1-1,
1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid combined.
The new tetrakisazo dye forms a black powder which, in water or sodium hydroxide solution, turns reddish blue and in conc. Sulfuric acid with a green-blue color dissolves. Its re-coppered color on cotton is a greenish blue with very good wash fastness.
The 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid used as starting material in the present process can be z. B. produce by coupling dianotated 2-nitro-5-amino-1-benzoic acid with o-oxybenzoic acid and reducing the nitro group to the amino group in the nitro-azo dye thus obtained. The 4-amino-2,5-dimethoxy-4'-oxy-5'-methyl-1,
1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid can be produced by coupling dianotated 1-amino - \ ?, 5-diinethoxy-4-nitrobenzene with 1-oxy-6-methylbenzene-2-carboxylic acid and reducing the nitro group to the amino group so he produced nitroazo dye.
The dianotation of these two aminoazo dyes is advantageously carried out according to the so-called indirect method, that is, by dissolving the aminoazo dye in dilute alkali, adding the calculated amount of nitrite and then adding this solution with a dilute solution containing an excess of mineral acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid), or a solution of sulfuric acid and naphthalene sulfonic acid combined.
In the present process, the couplings are advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium. The combination of the two diazo compounds with 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylamine-7,7'-disialfonic acid can be carried out simultaneously or preferably one after the other. It is advantageous to first couple with the diazo compound from 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid in a weakly alkaline, e.g.
B. alkalibiearbonat- or alkali- earbonatalkalischem medium, and the disazo dye obtained is then in more alkaline, z. B. in alkali carbonate or alkali hydroxydalkalischem Meditun with the diazo compound of 4-amino-2,5-dimethoxy-4'-oxy-5'-methyl-1,1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid united.
Example: 34.5 parts of the disodium salt of 4-amino-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3,3'-diacid are dissolved in 300 parts of water and 7 parts of sodium nitrite are added. This solution is poured into a solution, cooled to 10 to 15, of 50 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid and 50 parts of water.
The mixture is stirred for 2 hours and the yellow-brown diazo paste is poured into a solution, cooled to 5, of 46.1 parts of 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylamine-7,7'-disulfonic acid in 300 parts of water and 40% Share sodium carbonate. After coupling, the disazo dye is filtered off,
dissolved in 200 parts of water and 45 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and the solution was cooled to zero. A diazo paste prepared from 33.1 parts of 4-amino-2,5-di-methoxy-4'-oxy-5'-methyl-1,1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid in the manner indicated above is then poured and stir for 4 hours at 0 to 3 ".
The excess sodium hydroxide is then blunted with about 15 parts of 30 1 / o hydrochloric acid until the reaction is still clearly phenolphthalein-alkaline; the dye is separated off by adding sodium chloride, filtered off and dried.
