Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable azo dye is obtained if one diazotized 4-amino-2-methyl-5-methoxy-4'-oxy-1,1'-azobenzene \ -3 '-: carbo: acid combined with the asymmetric urea derivative of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid and 4-acetylamino-1-aminobenzo # 1.
The new dye is a black substance when dry, which dissolves in water and in dilute sodium carbonate solution with reddish-blue, in dilute sodium hydroxide solution with green-blue and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue-green color, and cotton after the one or two bath re-coppering process colors in blue tones.
The 4-amino, -2-methyl-5-methoxy-4'-oxy-1,1 \ -azobenzof-3'-carboxylic acid used as starting material in the present process can be prepared, for example, by diazotized 4-amino Coupling l-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid in acidic, preferably acetic acidic medium with 1-amino-2-methoxy-5-methylbenzene.
The preparation of the asymmetrical urea derivative, which is also used as starting material, can be carried out in a manner known per se, for. B. by phosgenating the total of the components or via the phenyl-O-urethane of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid.
The azotization of 4-amino-2-methyl-5-methoxy-4'-oxy: 1,1'-azobenzene-3'-carbo # n-acid can, for. B. be carried out according to the so-called indirect method, that is, a solution containing an alkali salt of this aminoazo compound and the required amount of nitrite,
combined with a dilute acid solution containing an excess of the theoretically required amount of acid, in particular hydrochloric acid.
The combination of the diazo compound thus obtained with the asymmetric urea substance derivative is preferably carried out in alkali, z.
B. alkalibikarbonatalkalisehem or al'kalikarbonatalkalischem medium, .ge if necessary with the addition, more suitable, the coupling reaction promoting b: zw. acid binding agents such as pyridine, ethanolamines etc. Example: 30.1 parts of the monoazo dye:
, which is obtained when the diazonium compound is combined from 15.3 parts of 4-amino-1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid with 13.7 parts of 1-amino-2-methoxy-5-methylbenzene in an acidic medium , are suspended in 300 parts of water and brought into solution by neutralization with sodium hydroxide solution. To this are added 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite and enough ice that the temperature is 0-3.
By adding 35 parts of hydrochloric acid of 30, the mixture is acidified and stirred for about an hour, the diazoazo bond of the monoazo dye being formed. This is combined with an aqueous, sodium carbonate-alkaline solution that contains 41,
Contains 5 parts of the ägymrnetrischen $ arnstoffes from the 2-Aminfl-5-oxynaphth @ aline-7-siulfonsäum and the 1-amino-4-acetyläminobenzols and 40 parts of sodium carbonate dissolved in 500 parts of water.
The dye formation to the disazo dye is complete in a short time. By adding sodium chloride, the dye, which is partly still dissolved, can be completely separated out, whereupon it is filtered off and dried. .
