  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen     Tegtilhilfsstoffes.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man einen neuen       Textilhilfsstoff    erhält, wenn man auf Äthylen  diamin     Stearinsäure    einwirken lässt, das so  erhaltene     a-Heptadecyl-imidazolin    mit 1     Mol          Benzylchlorid    und das so erhaltene     ss-Hepta-          decyl-benzylimidazolin    hierauf mit     Sulfonie-          rungsmitteln    behandelt.

   Das neue Produkt,  ein     sulfiertes        Benzyl-ss-heptadecyl-imidazolin,     bildet ein gelbliches Pulver, das sich in Was  ser unter Bildung schäumender Lösungen löst  und zur Veredlung von Textilien Verwendung  finden kann.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  10 Teile     Stearinsäure    werden mit 15 Teilen       Äthylendiamin    (in Form von     Äthylendiamin-          hydrat)    unter Zusatz von 50 Teilen Alkohol  während 12 Stunden auf<B>2300</B> erwärmt. Hier  auf wird die Reaktionsmasse im Vakuum  destilliert, wobei das     ,u-Heptadecyl-imidazolin     in Form einer weissen Masse gewonnen wird.    3 Teile der so gewonnenen     ss-Heptadecyl-          imidazolinbase    werden bei etwa 70-80   ge  schmolzen und mit 1,8 Teilen     Benzylchlorid     versetzt.

   Hierauf erhitzt man rückfliessend  einige Zeit und erhält eine zähe, viskose  Masse, aus welcher durch Zusatz von säure  bindenden Mitteln das     ss-Heptadecyl-benzyl-          imidazolin    erhalten wird.  



  10 Teile des so erhaltenen     ,u-Heptadecyl-          benzylimidazolins    werden mit 4 Teilen     Chlor-          sulfonsäure    versetzt und längere Zeit bei ge  wöhnlicher Temperatur gerührt. Hierauf wird  die Reaktionsmasse in Wasser gegossen und  der wasserunlösliche Anteil so lange mit  wässerigen Alkalien versetzt, bis eine klare,  neutrale Lösung erhalten wird. Diese wird  dann zur Trockne eingedampft.

   The mixture is then refluxed for some time and a tough, viscous mass is obtained, from which the β-heptadecyl-benzyl-imidazoline is obtained by adding acid-binding agents.



  10 parts of the u-heptadecylbenzylimidazoline obtained in this way are mixed with 4 parts of chlorosulfonic acid and the mixture is stirred for a long time at ordinary temperature. The reaction mass is then poured into water and aqueous alkalis are added to the water-insoluble portion until a clear, neutral solution is obtained. This is then evaporated to dryness.

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Textilhilfsstoffes, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man auf Äthylendiamin Stearinsäure einwir ken lässt, das so erhaltene ,u-Iieptadecyl" imidazolin mit 1 Mol Benzylchlorid und hier auf das so erhaltene ss-Heptadecyl-benzyl- imidazolin mit Sulfonierungsmitteln behandelt.
