Process for the preparation of a new amide derivative. It has been found that a new amide derivative is obtained if about 1 mole of technical grade 0, oleic acid amide, about 1 mole of formaldehyde and about 1 mole of triethanolamine are allowed to act on one another.
The implementation is advantageous in the .Wärme, z. B. at 100-140, made, expediently with the addition of substances that accelerate the reaction, for example in the presence of alkali carbonates, such as sodium carbonate. You can z. For example, proceed in such a way that the amide is first reacted with formaldehyde in a known manner to form the N-methylol amide and then triethanol amine is allowed to act on the N-methylol amide.
The acetate of the new amide derivative, a viscous mass, is absorbed by water to form a foaming solution. It can be used as a Tegtilhilfssstoff, z. B. as a softener for viscose rayon, use.
Example 1 Technical oleic acid amide is converted into oleic acid-N-methylolamide in a known manner by treating with formaldehyde. An intimate mixture of 6.2 parts of oleic acid-N-methylolamide, 3,
3 parts of triethanolamine and 25 parts of dehydrated sodium carbonate are stirred for 11/2 hours in a 110-115 bath. It is then dissolved at room temperature in just enough water to dissolve, and the new condensation product is separated off by adding sodium carbonate.
After drying, the new product is a viscous mass that is absorbed by hot water to form an opal solution, which clears completely with the addition of acetic acid and then foams strongly.
The acetate of the new amine obtained, for. B. by mixing 2.5 parts of the condensation product described above with 0.6 parts of glacial acetic acid, is an excellent plasticizer for rayon.
Example 2.
28 parts by weight of oleic acid amide and 16.4 parts of triethanolamine are heated in a bath of 115-120 while nitrogen is passed through, and 3.8 parts of paraformaldehyde are introduced within 1/2 hour with stirring. The mixture is stirred at the specified bath temperature for 11½ hours in a stream of nitrogen, allowed to cool, and 6.6 parts of glacial acetic acid are added.
The acetate of the new condensation product thus obtained is absorbed by water at room temperature to form an approximately clear solution and can. are used as plasticizers.
