Process for the preparation of ethyleneimine. It has been found that .that you can prepare the already known ethyleneimine in an advantageous manner if you fen with ethanolamine sulfuric acid ester at elevated temperature with solutions of alkaline substances, z. B. caustic alkalis or alkaline earth hydroxides treated. Solutions in water or alcohols, e.g.
B. methyl, ethyl or butyl alcohol are used. When using alcohols as solvents, alkali metal alcoholates can also be used as alkaline substances.
The product obtained in this way is characterized by great reactivity and can therefore be used for a wide variety of; chemical IT solutions are used. For example, it can be used to produce dyes and also auxiliaries for the leather, textile, rubber and lacquer industries.
Example 1: 219 parts by weight of 9.thanolaminosulfuric acid ester are mixed with 440 parts by weight of 34% sodium hydroxide solution at the usual temperature, optionally with cooling; the solution is then topped up with water to 10.00 parts by weight. The mixture is heated and the water and ethyleneimine which distill over are collected.
The distilled water is replaced from time to time or continuously by appropriate amounts of fresh water. The distillation is ended as soon as the transferred components no longer react alkaline. The distillate is an aqueous ethyleneimine solution, from which the ethyleneimine is separated by adding caustic soda and, if necessary, obtained by extraction.
It can be obtained in pure form by distillation over caustic soda. Example 2: 212 parts by weight of ethanolamine sulfuric acid ester are mixed with 105 parts by weight of Calciumogy d, whereupon the mixture is made up to 2000 parts by weight with water. When the mixture is distilled in this way, ethyleneimine is obtained in good yield.
Example 3 212 parts by weight of ethanolamine sulfuric acid ester are mixed with 350 parts by weight of potassium hydroxide solution of 45 B6 and made up to 750 parts by weight with water. The mixture is subjected to distillation, ethyleneimine being obtained in about 70 to 80% yield.
