Process for the preparation of a salt of a new, hardenable, basic ternary condensation product. The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a salt of a new, curable, basic learning arena condensation product, which is characterized in that a) about 1 mole of hexamethylolmelamine hexamethyl ether, b)
about 2 moles of N-methylol stearic acid amide and c) about 1 mole of triethanolamine are condensed and the basic ternary condensation product formed is converted into the quaternary ammonium salt with the aid of dimethyl sulfate.
One can proceed, for example, that about 1 mole of N-methylol stearic acid amide is first heated to 110 hours at a pressure of 30 mm with about 1 mole of triethanolamine, then about 1 mole of hexamethylol melamine hexamethyl ether is added to the melt and the mixture is heated to 120 under reduced pressure for 2 hours,
then about 1. 3Zol N-methylol stearic acid amide are added and stirring is continued until a sample is soluble in dilute acetic acid, and finally the condensation product formed is treated with dimethyl sulfate.
The quaternary ammonium salt of the new, curable, basic learning condensation product, obtainable in this way, is a wax-like mass that is soluble in warm water from both acidic and alkaline reactions. It can be used as an auxiliary in the textile, leather and paper industries.
In the following example, parts mean parts by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example: At a pressure of 30 mm, 30 parts of N-methylo-lstearic acid amide, 0.5 part of dry, powdered sodium carbonate and 15 parts of triethanolamine are melted and heated to 110 for 2 hours. The melt is then soluble in dilute acetic acid.
It is mixed with 36 parts of the methylolmelamine methyl ether described below and the mixture is further heated to 120 in vacuo. After -2 hours, a further 30 parts of N-methylol stearic acid amide are added and stirring is continued until a sample is soluble in dilute acetic acid.
If this is the case, the resulting condensation product is stirred at 70-ss0 with 13 parts of freshly distilled dimethyl sulfate, whereby a waxy mass is obtained which is soluble in warm water with an acidic and alkaline reaction and is used as an auxiliary in textile , Leather and paper industries can be used.
The hexamethylolmelamine hexamethyl ether used was prepared according to the information in the last section of the example of Swiss patent no. 251642, with the only difference that the syrup obtained after the condensation, filtered and concentrated to about 99% was not taken up in benzene, but for the purpose Removal of the remaining salt was filtered hot.
