Process for the preparation of a salt of a new, hardenable, base-ternary condensation product. The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a salt of a new, curable, basic ternary condensation product, which is characterized in that (i) about 1 mole of hexamethylolmelamine hexamethy ether, b) about 2 moles of N-MethyIoloctadecyl urethane and c)
About 1 mole of triethanolamine condenses and the resulting basic tertiary 7-e condensation product is converted into the salt with the aid of acetic acid.
One can proceed, for example, in such a way that first about 1 mole of hexamethylol melamine hexamethyl ether is reacted with about 2 moles of N-methyloloctadecyl urethane by the two components together during one to two hours under reduced pressure, e.g.
B. at 10-20 mm, heated to 115-120, then the resulting binary condensation product under reduced pressure with about 1 mole of triethanolamine heated to 115-120 for one hour and the melt formed GE treated with acetic acid.
The acetate of the new ternary condensation product that can be obtained in this way is a soft and waxy mass that is easily soluble in hot water. It can be used as an auxiliary in the textile, leather and paper industries.
In the following example, parts are parts by weight; the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example: A mixture of 15 parts of triethanolamine and 102 parts of a condensation product of methylated methylolmelamine and N'-1-ethyloloctadecyl urethane, the production of which is described below, are stirred at a pressure of 10 20 mm during one hour heated to 115-120.
The product thus obtained, which dissolves in dilute warm acetic acid, is mixed with 7 parts of glacial acetic acid at 90 and the mixture is stirred well for one hour. After allowing to cool, a soft, waxy mass is obtained which is readily soluble in hot water and which can be used as an auxiliary in the textile, leather and paper industries.
The condensation product of the methylated methylolmelamine and the N-methyl oetadecyl urethane is prepared by heating a mixture of 68 parts of N-methylol octa.decyl urethane and 39 parts of the methylol melamine methyl ether described below to 115-120 during a up to two hours at a pressure of 10-20 mm.
A waxy mass is obtained.
The hexamethylolmelamine hexamethyl ether used was prepared according to the information in the last section of the example of Swiss patent no. 251642, with the only difference that the syrup obtained after the condensation, filtered and concentrated to about 99% was not taken up in benzene, but for the purpose Removal of the remaining salt was filtered hot.
