Process for the preparation of terephthaloyl-1- (4'-nitranilide) -4-chloride. It has been found that the monoarylides of aromatic dicarboxylic acid halides not yet described in the literature are obtained in good yield if one mole of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid halide of the benzene or naphthalene series in which the acid halide groups are not in the above is used - Stand in relation to each other in the presence of organic solvents that do not react with the acid halide groups,
a 112o1 of an amino compound of the benzene or naphthalene series or their hydrogenation products in the form of their salts can act.
Solvents are concretes such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, diethyl ketone and hydrocarbons such as benzene and gylene, alone or in a mixture with the concretes already mentioned, and also dioxane.
To carry out the condensation, the amine salt is expediently introduced into the warm solution of the acid chloride and the mixture is heated until the dicarboxylic acid diarylide begins to separate out. The reaction product can be worked up in a very simple manner, for example by filtering small amounts of diarylids that have formed and then cooling the solution.
The compounds obtained by the process are intended to be used as intermediates for the production of dyes, pharmaceutical products and textile auxiliaries.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of terephthaloyl-1- (4'-riitranilid) -4-chloride, which is characterized in that one mole of terephthaloyl chloride in the presence of organic solvents which do not react with the acid halide groups , one mole of 4-nitroaniline in the form of a mineral acid salt. Example:
In 660 parts by weight of a 17% strength tereplithaloyl chloride solution in acetone, 87 parts by weight of hydrochloric acid 4-nitroaniline are introduced at 50 ° C., whereupon the mixture is heated to the boil until the formation of terephthaloyl-di- (4-nitranilide) begins. It is then filtered immediately and the terephthaloyl 1- (4'-nitranilide) -4- chloride is deposited by vigorous cooling.
The product which has been filtered off with suction and washed with cold acetone is net getrock in vacuo at room temperature. Concentration of the mother liquor and subsequent cooling give further amounts of the compound. The yield is 90% of theory.
Instead of acetone as the solvent, other ketones, such as methyl ethyl ketone or diethyl ketone, and hydrocarbons, such as benzene and glycol, can be used alone or in admixture with the ketones already mentioned, and also dioxane. The previously unknown compound obtained forms colorless crystals that melt at 292-2930 C.
