Process for the preparation of a vat dye. In the main patent, a method for preparing a vat dye is described ben, which. consists in allowing 1 mole of 1-amino-4-halogenanthra.chinone and at least 1 mole each of ammonia, formamide and benzoyl chloride to act on one another, with the proviso "that the sequence is chosen so that when the ammonia takes effect in the Reaction mixture is a halogen-containing aromatic compound,
When the formamide and benzoyl chloride act in the reaction mixture, an aromatic compound with at least one free amino group is present.
It has been found that a new valuable vat dye can be obtained if 1 mole of 1-amino-4-halogenanthra.- quinone and at least 1 mole of ammonia, formamide and p-bromobenzoyl chloride are allowed to act on one another, with the proviso that the The sequence is chosen so that when the ammonia acts in the reaction mixture a halogen-containing aromatic compound, when the formamide and p-bromobenzoyl chloride act,
in the reaction mixture an aromatic compound with at least one free amino group is against.
The; The process can be carried out in various ways, for example in which a 1-amino-4-haloanthraquinone is converted into the 1 by treatment with ammonia. 4- Diaminoanthraquinone transferred, this condensed with formamide to give 4-amino-1 .9-anthrapyrimidine and the latter compound treated with p-bromobenzoyl chloride.
The 1-amino-4-haloanthraquinone can also first be condensed with formamide, then the 4-halo-1,9-anthrapyrimidine formed can be reacted with ammonia to give 4-amino-1,9-anthrapyrimidine and this with p-bromobenzoylechloride to treat.
Furthermore, the 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone can also first be converted with p-bromobenzoyl chloride to form 1-halo - 4 - (p - bromobenzoylamino) - anthraquinone, and this by treatment with ammonia into 1-amino-4 - Convert (p-bromobenzoylamino) anthraquinone and condense the latter compound with formamide.
Finally, it is also possible to first convert the 1-amino-4-haloanthraquinone into the 1,4-di-aminoanthraquinone by treating it with ammonia, to acylate this partially with p-bromobenzoyl chloride and to convert the 1-amino-4- (p- bromobenzoylamino) - anthraquinone then condense with formamide. The same dye is produced in all cases.
The dye obtained, 4- (p-bromobenzoylamino) -1.9-anthrapyrimidine, provides a brown vat from which cotton and wool are dyed in greenish yellow shades of very good fastness.
<I> Example 1: </I> 360 parts of 1-amino-4 - (p-bromo-benzoyl-amino) -anthraehinone, prepared from a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraehinone by treatment with ammonia and by partial acylation with p-bromobenzoyl chloride or from the action of p-bromobenzamide, which is formed by the reaction of ammonia and p-bromobenzoyl chloride,
on a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone or by acylation of a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone with p-bromobenzoyl chloride and reaction of the 1 - (p - bromobenzoylamino) - 4-halogenanthraquinone with ammonia, formamide is included in 1250 parts Stir heated to 180 to 185 ° C for 8 hours. After cooling, it is filtered off with suction, washed with alcohol and dried.
If necessary, the reaction product can be purified by the usual methods, for example by crystallization or treatment with Oxydationsmit, for example in the form of its aqueous paste with hypochlorite solution. The reaction can be carried out in the presence of a diluent such as phenol or nitrobenzene.
Likewise, catalytically active agents or agents which promote water splitting can be used to accelerate the reaction; for example boric acid, anhydrous oxalic acid, calcined soda, copper salts, etc. add.
<I> Example 2: </I> 247 parts of 4-amino-1. 9-anthrapyrimidine, obtainable from 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone by treatment with formamide and condensation of the 4-halogeno-1 9-anthrapyrimidine obtained with ammonia or from 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone by treatment with Ammonia and condensation of the <B> 1. </B> 4-diaminoanthracbinone formed with formamide in the presence of phenol,
are in 1000 parts of nitrobenzene after the addition of 300 parts of pyridine and 2.50 Tei len p-bromobenzoyl chloride for a short time. Instead of pyridine, soda can also be added as an acid-binding agent. As soon as the implementation is finished, it is left cold and worked on in the usual way.
The acylation of 4-amino-1. 9-anthrapyrimidines with p-bromobenzoyl chloride can also be used in nitrobenzene or in o-dichlorobenzene 7etc. be carried out in the absence of acid-binding agents or carried out in the absence of a solvent.
One can also proceed in such a way that, instead of reacting one after the other with ammonia and p-bromobenzoyl chloride, 4-flalo, en-, 1,9-anthrapyrimidine is condensed with the p-bromobenzamide obtainable from ammonia and p-bromobenzoyl chloride.
