Method for the preparation of a vat dye% s. The main patent describes a process for the preparation of a vat dye which: consists in allowing 1 mole of 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone and at least 1 mole each of ammonia, formamide and benzoyl chloride to act on one another, with the proviso that the order like this:
It is chosen that when the ammonia acts in the reaction mixture, a halogen-containing aromatic compound is present, and when the formamide and benzoyl chloride act in the reaction mixture, an aromatic compound with at least one free amino group is present.
It has been found that a new valuable vat dye can be obtained if 1 mole of 1-amino-4-halo-anthraquinone and at least 1 mole each of Am moniak, Forma.mid and p-chlorobenzoyl chloride can act on one another, with the measure given that the sequence is chosen so that when the ammonia acts in the reaction mixture, a halogen-containing aromatic compound, when the formamide and the.
p-chlorobenzoyl chloride an aromatic compound with at least one free amino group is present in the reaction mixture.
The process can be carried out in various ways, for example by converting a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraehinone into the 1. 4 diaminoanthraquinone by treatment with ammonia, this with formamide to the 4-amino-1.9-anthrapyrimi - Din condensed and the latter compound treated with p-chlorobenzoyl chloride: rid.
The 1-amino-4-haloanthraquinone can also be condensed first with formamide, then the 4-halo-1,9-anthrapyrimidine formed with ammonia to give 4-amino-1. React 9-anthrapyrimidine and treat it with p-chlorobenzoyl chloride.
In addition, the 1-amino-4-halo: genanthraquinone can also be converted first with p-chlorobenzoyl chloride to form 1-p-chlorobenzoylamino-4-haloanthraquinone, which is converted into 1-p-chlorobenzoylamino-4-aminoanthraquinone by treatment with ammonia transfer and condense the latter compound with formamide.
Finally, it is also possible to first convert the 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone into the 1,4-diaminoanthraehinone by treating it with ammonia, to acylate this partially with p-chlorobenzoylchloride and to convert the 1-amino-4-p- chlorobenzoylaminoanthraquinone then condense with formamide. The same dye is produced in all cases.
The dye obtained, 4- (p-chlorobenzoylamino) -1.9-anthrapyrimidine, provides a violet-tinged brown vat from which tree and wool are dyed in green-tinged yellow shades of very good fastness.
Example 1: 360 Parts 1 - Amino. - 4 - p - chlorobenzoylaminoanthraquinone, made from. a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone by Be act with ammonia and.
by partial acylation of the resulting 1. 4-diamino anthraquinone with p-chlorobenzoyl chloride or by the action of p-chlorobenzamide, which is formed by the reaction of ammonia and p-chlorobenzoyl chloride,
on a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone or by acylation of a 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone with p-chlorobenzoyl chloride and implementation of the resulting 1-p-chlorobenzoylamino - 4 - halogenanthraquinone, with ammonia, are in 1250 Parts of formamide heated to 180 to 185 C for 8 hours while stirring.
After cooling, it is suctioned off, washed with alcohol and dried. The reaction product can, if necessary, by: the customary methods, for example by crystallization or treatment with oxidizing agents, for example. in the form of its watery paste with hypochlorite solution. The reaction can be carried out in the presence of a diluent such as phenol or nitrobenzene.
Likewise, agents that are catalytically active or that promote elimination of water, for example boric acid, anhydrous oxalic acid, soda ash, copper salts, etc., can be added to accelerate the reaction.
Example 2: 247 parts of 4-amino-1. 9-anthrapyrimidine, obtainable from 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone by treatment with r'ormamid and condensation of the available 4-halogen-1. 9-anthrapyrimidines with ammonia or from 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone by treating with ammonia and condensation of the resulting 1. 4-diaminoanthraquinone with formamide in the presence of phenol,
are boiled for a short time in 1000 parts of nitrobenzene after the addition of 300 parts of pyridine and 190 parts of p-C.hlorbenzoylchlorid. Instead of pyridine, soda can also be added as an acid-binding agent. As soon as the conversion is finished, you let it cool down and work on in the usual way.
The acylation of 4-amino-1. 9-anthrapyrimidine with p-chlorobenzoylochloride can also be carried out in nitrobenzene or in o-dichlorobenzene etc. in the absence of acid-binding agents or in the absence of a solvent.
One can also proceed as follows: instead of reacting 4-Ha.logen-1.9-anthrapyrimidine with ammonia and p-chlorobenzoyl chloride one after the other, condenses with the p-chlorobenzamide obtainable from ammonia and p-chlorobenzoyl chloride.
