Process for the preparation of an azo dye of the stilbene series. It has been found that valuable cotton dyes can be produced if you use the dyes that are produced by condensation of dinitrostilbene disulfonic acid, respectively. Dinitrodibenzyldisulfonic acid, respectively. Conversion products of nitrotoluenesulfonic acid with amicioazo bodies received in any order successively to the action of alkaline reducing agents and oxidizing agents.
The orange, orange-red to red cotton dyes that can be obtained in this way are distinguished from the original dyes by greater yield, by a red tinge and increased liveliness of the nuances, as well as by remarkable fastness properties, in particular increased chlorine fastness and, in some cases, improved light fastness.
The success of the present combination process consists in the sum of the effect of the reduction process, which results in the valuable deepening and shifting of the shade to red, and the oxidation process, which results in greater purity and increased authenticity properties. of the colorations obtained.
Since the second phase of the present combination process essentially consists in the removal of by-products, it is in many cases, especially when using mild reducing agents, possible that the reaction products result from the action of alkaline reducing agents in other ways, z. B. by partial salting out to free from disturbing admixtures.
The dyes, in which condensation products from dinitrostilbene disulfonic acid with aminoazo bodies are used as starting products, have proven to be particularly valuable.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of an azo dye of the stilbene series, characterized in that the condensation product of 4, 4'-dirritrostilbene-2. Treated 2'-disulfonic acid with 2 - methyl - 5 - methoxy - 4'-ethoxy-4-aminoazobenzöl-2'-sulfonic acid with a reducing agent and subjecting the product obtained to a cleaning process.
The dye obtained in this way stains cotton in red-sticky orange shades of good fastness to chlorine and light.
Example: The known method from 47.4 kg 4.4'-dirritrostilberr-2. 2'-disulfosauremNatrium and 37 kg of 2-NIethyl-5-methoxy-4'-ethoxy-4-aminoazobenzene-2'-sulfonic acid represented by condensation in an alkaline solution dye is with 50 kg of sodium hydroxide solution of 33 0 B6 and 2000 liters of warm Dissolved water and, after adding 5 kg of 600% sodium sulfur, heated to 70-80 ° C. for about 1/2 hour while stirring.
Then, for cleaning, it is oxidized by adding sodium hypochlorite, corresponding to 33 kg of active chlorine, while heating to 80-90 ° C. for about 1/2 hour. After neutralizing the reaction mixture with mineral acid, the dye is - precipitated with table salt and deposited as usual.
