Description
Process for the preparation of a vat dye of the anthraquinoma series. In the main patent, a process for the preparation of a quality dye is described in which 2.1- (N) -anthraquinone acridone-6-carboxylic acid chloride is reacted with 1-amino-4-methoxy-anthraquinone by heating in a solvent.
It has been found that a vat dye with similar valuable properties can be obtained in a completely analogous manner if 3.2- (S) -Anthrachiiionthioxanthon-Bz2-carboxylic acid chloride of the formula
EMI0001.0011
condensed with 1-aminoanthraquinone by heating in a solvent.
Example: 4 parts 3. 2- (S) -Anthraquinone thioxanthone Bz2-carboxylic acid chloride of the formula given above, obtainable from 2-chloroanthraquinone-3-carboxylic acid by condensation with thiosalicylic acid in aqueous solution with the addition of caustic potash,
Subsequent ring closure to the thioxanthone derivative with concentrated sulfuric acid and conversion into the carboxylic acid chloride by boiling with thionyl chloride in nitrobenzene solution, 2.3 parts of α-aminoantbrachinone in 180 parts of nitrobenzene are heated to 200-210 C until no more hydrochloric acid escapes . After cooling, the deposited yellow dye is filtered off with suction, washed and dried.
With alkaline hydrosulphite, the dye gives a brown vat, from which cotton is dyed in clear, greenish yellow tones after oxidizing and soaps.
