sheet separator apparatus, in particular for printers. This invention relates to an apparatus for separating sheets from a stack, in particular applicable to the feeding of sheets to printing machines.
This apparatus is of the kind comprising a rotating drive wheel, movable to be brought into contact with the topsheet of a stack, with the aim of bringing this sheet to to constitute a convex part. Machines of this type are known, for example, in which this drive wheel cooperates with a presser foot resting temporarily on said sheet, so as to bulge out the part of the sheet which is placed. between said wheel and the presser foot, in order to facilitate the adhesion of this part of the the sheet with a sheet lifter or nozzle.
When the sheet has thus secured to the nozzle, the presser foot, which is hollow and connected to a fan, swings back and is lifted out out of the way. of said sheet which has been lifted by the nozzle, after which the presser foot pivots forward and downward on the following sheet and projects a jet of air between this sheet and the upper sheet attached to the nozzle. In these machines, there are usually at least two such devices located respectively near the rear corners of the sheets to to be separated.
The apparatus according to the invention comprises a support arranged to be able to penetrate into the stack, in order to oppose to the pressure of said drive wheel on the stack, said support, with a view to '' avoid a displacement of the sheets during its penetration into the stack, having the form of a flat plate and being movable, during its insertion in the stack and its displacement out of the stack, in a plane parallel # to the top surface of the stack.
The appended drawing represents, by , by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view showing the separating apparatus in the working position with respect to the rear edge of the stack (the sheets; Fig. 2 is a view rear of this device; Fig. 3 is a plan view.
In the apparatus shown, the M ("C? Tiiisme separator is mounted in a support 1 mounted in an adjustable manner along a fixed shaft 2 extending transversely to </ B > the ma chine and receives its order from a rotating shaft 3. On a bushing 4, wedged on the shaft 3, a cam 5 is mounted for raising and lowering the feed wheel 6 and a cam 7 for raising and lowering the presser foot 8. The star wheel 6 is mounted on the outer end of a shaft q # which.
is supported in an arm 10 pivoting on the sleeve 4 and which can be angularly displaced around this sleeve by the cam .1) and a spring 19 by the intermediary of a lever 13 and a rod 14.
The wheel 6 - receives its rotational movement from an angle wheel 12 wedged on the shaft 3 and meshing with a pin gnon angle It mounted on the inner end of the shaft 9. The cam 7 operates the foot presser 8 by means of a lever 15 and a spring 20 and, for the purpose of pivoting the presser foot 8 < / B> towards the rear and away from the stack in the lifting movement of said foot, up to the position marked in dotted lines in fig. 1,
the bar 3.6 which carries it is pivotally connected to the lever 15 and is provided with a vertical support arm 17 having a slot in which is secured a fixed pin 18 carried by an extension of the frame 1.
As the aforementioned parts are or may be of known construction and operate in a known manner, it has not been considered necessary to give a more detailed description thereof.
In the embodiment shown, the plate 21, which, during the operation of the drive wheel 6, must constitute a support for the part of the pile on which lowers this wheel, is guided in a straight line in a fixed support arm 22 fixed to the frame 1 and receives a back and forth movement of an arm # 3 which is mounted. on shaft 2 on the same hub as an arm â, cam 24 actuated by a cam 25 wedged on bush 4.
The arm 24 is provided with an o-alet which is kept in contact with the cam 25 by a spring 2.6. The cam 25 has such a roriiie, and is adjusted with respect to to the cam 5. such that it determined the insertion of the plate 21 into the stack 27 just at the moment when the 6 wheel is about to descend on this stack, and this plate disengages from the 27 stack after the drive wheel 6 </ B> has been raised to away from this stack. Immediately before lowering the wheel 6, the presser foot 8 goes down and comes to rest firmly on the top of the stack.
It is understood that the rotation of the wheel towards the presser foot bulges the top sheet, as shown in dotted lines in fig. 2, and, while this sheet is held in this position, the nozzle or sheet lifter (not shown) descends and grasps it. The presser foot will then begin to rise and pivot backward to away from the stack, after which the sheet is removed by the nozzle, then the presser foot is lowered over the remaining sheets.
Although, in the apparatus shown, the plate 21 is intended to enter the stack and to exit it by moving parallel to the lateral edges of the stack, this plate could, if desired, be arranged to move along the bisector of the angle formed by the corners of the sheets, so that the stack offers the minimum possible resistance to, their entry into these corners. The plate will advantageously be bevelled at the front and will have its plane face turned upwards, so that the position of the sheets arranged at a level higher than that of said plate will not be changed by the introduction of the plate in the stack.
