"lêvedos modificados e utilizações, principalmente para a produção de derivados esteroidianos". a presente invenção refere-se a novas cepas de lêvedo, processos e construções genéticas para seu preparo, assim como sua utilização para a síntese ou a modificação de compostos esteroidianos. mais particularmente, a invenção descreve cepas que apresentam uma atividade de tipo 20<244>-hsd diminuída, notadamente por modificação dos genes gcy1 e/ou ypr1. as cepas de lêvedo da invenção permitem melhorar a eficácia da síntese ou aumentar a seletividade ou os rendimentos do processo, assim como a qualidade do produto final. as cepas, processos e compostos da invenção são úteis na pesquisa, no desenvolvimento e na produção de produtos com atividade terapêutica ou profilática, no homem ou no animal, notadamente de derivados esteroidianos.
