They are prepared according to known methods, for example by coupling a

EMI3.1
The lation of the diazole compounds of the amines of the formula RI-NH2 with the amines of the benzene series coupling in the para position with respect to the aminogenic group takes place, with advantage in an acidic medium, for example in an acidified medium at acetic acid, while the coupling of the hydroxybenzene-o-carboxylic acids, with the diazo compounds of the amines bearing, in the para position with respect to the aminogenic group, a substituent which can be transformed into an aminogenic group, is effected in such a way known, in alkaline medium.
If the substituent, which can be transformed into an aminogenic group, is an NO2 group, the reduction to an aminogenic group must be carried out under conditions such that the azo group is not attacked, for example with the aid of an alkali sulphide or sulphide ammonium.
According to the present process, particularly valuable disazo dyes are obtained, for example from amino-monoazo dyes free of sulfonic groups, as is, for example,

case for the simplest representative of these aminomonoazo dyes, namely 4 amino-4'-hydroxy-l,1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid. As further examples of suitable aminoazo dyes, it should be mentioned:

Condensation of cyanuryl halide with acid
EMI3.4
2-Aminonaphthalene-4,8-disulfonic acid and aminomonoazeic dyes is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium. It is recommended to carry out the condensation first with 2-aminonaphthalene acid; 4, -disulfonic acid and then with the aminoazo dyes. If one has to condense 1 mol of the intermediate condensation product obtained from cyanuryl halide and aminonaphthalene disulfonic acid with 2 mol of the same

dye-a.minoazo * iclue, we can, for example, carry out the reaction in one go. Moreover, it is usual, as in condensations with cyanuryl halides, to increase, at each stage of the condensation, both the pH value and the reaction temperature.
The dyes obtained according to the process described are new: and correspond to the general formula (2) already explained. They can be used for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, such as wool, silk, and in particular materials containing cellulose, such as cotton, linen, as well as rayon and staple fibers from regenerated cellulose. 'In general, yellow tints are obtained with these dyes which can be eaten away in pure white with the usual gnawing agents, neutral or alkaline, the active principle of which is a reducing agent, for example sulfoxylate-formaldehyde, which is surprising in the case of the dyes containing the triazine residue.
The disazo dyes can also be treated, according to methods known per se, for themselves or on the fiber, with metalliferous agents, preferably copper.
In the examples which follow and unless otherwise indicated, parts and 'percentages are given by weight and temperatures' are given in degrees centigrade.

not much time. The whole is stirred for 3 hours at a temperature of 30 to 35.
The pH value of the solution should be between 4 and 5. The temperature is raised to 60 and, by condensation with 25.7 parts. Of 4-amino acid.
EMI5.1
4'-hydroxy-1,1'-azobenzene-3'-cgrbôxylique, as described in Example 1, a ternary condensation product is obtained. The dye thus obtained dyes the cellulose fibers in neutral yellow tones, well-eaten in a neutral or alkaline medium.

' The temperature is raised to 90 over an hour and 30 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate are added. The dye is then dyed for one hour at a temperature of 90 to 95 and a pure yellow dye is obtained, tending to green.
Such tinctures can be eaten away in pure white by means of the gnawing agent of the following composition:
200 parts of sulfoxylate-formaldehyde,
120 parts of water,
550 parts of English gum concentrate 1: 1,
80 parts of potassium carbonate,
50 parts of glycerin
