internal combustion engine with gases from a gasifier and with
a fuel mixture from a gasoline carburetor.
This device essentially comprises a body or box carrying pipes or orifices which put it in communication with the engine, with the gasifier, with the carburetor.
gasoline, and with outside air.
Flaps, flaps, valves, drawers or other suitable shut-off devices are arranged on the orifice
from the explosive mixture to the engine, to the carburettor inlet of the carburettor mixtures and to the air orifice of the device.
A fourth closure device is provided on the passage of the gases coming from the gasifier after they have been mixed with the air introduced into the device.

so as to ensure either gas operation, or gasoline operation, or mixed gas and petrol operation, of the engine. The progressive adjustment of the air inlet of the device steffec.tue automatically according to the different operating speeds to be given to the engine for gas operation. For this purpose, the flaps or the like arranged on the fuel mixture orifice and on the gas and air mixture orifice are combined and actuated by a single control so that one closes, when the the other opens and vice versa or both are partially open thus ensuring the mixed operation of the engine.
On the other hand, the flaps or others arranged on the mixing start ;: 'detonating and on the air inlet in the device are combined with each other so that these flaps open and close simultaneously, the air inlet flap thus following the movements printed on the flap
starting point of explosive mixture which, for its part, is connected
preference to general engine acceleration control.
The progressive air regulation therefore takes place according to
the operating speed that you want to print on the engine in
the latter's running on gas.
An additional air adjustment is also provided by means of any suitable shutter device reducing or increasing in the desired proportion the section of the air inlet orifice in the device independently of the shutter or
others previously mentioned.
This additional air adjustment, functioning for the gas operation of the engine, is preferably carried out at the normal engine speed, the air adjustment for the other speeds being carried out using the previously indicated flap placed on the air inlet pipe.
In the accompanying drawing is shown by way of example an embodiment of the apparatus.
In this drawing:
fig, 1 and 2 are two elevational views of the apparatus taken at 90 [deg.] from each other.
The device consists of a body 1 in any suitable metal provided with 4 nozzles:
A suction pipe 2 for the detonating mixture by the engine.
A pipe 3 connecting the device to a gasoline carburetor of any known type (not shown).
These two pipes are located in parallel planes, which makes it possible not to change the arrangement (vertical or horizontal) of the carburetor when the device is inserted.
An air inlet pipe 4 and a pipe 5 communicating the mixer with a gasifier of any known type, these last two pipes being in
planes perpendicular to the planes of pipes 2 and 3.
A shutter 6 regulates the arrival of the explosive mixture to the engine. The control of this shutter is linked to the general engine acceleration control which is generally done by
the carburetor flap.
A flap 7 regulates the arrival of the fuel mixture coming from the carburetor and a flap 8 regulates the arrival of the air mixture and
of gas from the gasifier. These last two flaps are interconnected by lever arms 9,10 and by an articulation 11 so that the flap 7 allows the fuel mixture from the carburetor to pass while the flap 8 closes off the arrival of the gas mixture coming from gasifier and vice versa. The operation of the gasoline or gas engine is therefore obtained alternately and at will.
The simultaneous control of these two shutters is carried out using a single control 12 (rod or bowden or other), for example acting against the action of the return spring 13.
At the intermediate positions of these two shutters 7.8
(positions shown in the drawing) the engine runs on mixed gasoline and gas.
The flap 6 which controls the engine speed is connected by means of a lever arm 14, a joint
15 and a lever arm 16 to the shutter 17 which regulates the arrival of air through the pipe 4 so that the pipe 2 is blocked or uncovered at the same time as the pipe 4 is blocked or discovered by shutter 17.
When the gas engine is running, the play of flaps 7 and 8 being in a position such that flap 7 closes the gasoline supply and that flap 8 allows passage of the mixture of
<EMI ID = 4.1>
by the pipe 4, the adjustment of this air inlet will take place as indicated above by the operation of the shutter 6 control.
In idling, the flap 6 will almost block the orifice of the manifold 2 and the fly 17 will almost similarly block the orifice of the air inlet pipe 4. As soon as you act on the engine acceleration control, the flap 17 will gradually adjust the air intake so that the air can pass freely when the flap 6 gives the normal engine speed.
Before reaching the shutter 17, the air entering through the pipe 4 passes through orifices 18 located to the right of
