Abstract

Se describen métodos para obtener plantas de poroto de soja con diversas composiciones de ácido linolénico, ácido oleico ácido graso saturado. Estos métodos incluyen el uso de transgenes y germoplasma de poroto de soja que contiene mutaciones en genes de porotos de soja que confieren bajos fenotipos de ácido linolénico. También se describen plantas de poroto de soja y semillas producidas por estos métodos. Reivindicacion 1: Una semilla de una planta de soja, teniendo dicha semilla una composicion de ácidos grasos de aceite de semilla que comprende un contenido de ácido linolénico menor de aproximadamente 3% del total de ácidos grasos en peso y al menos el contenido de un ácido graso adicional que está alterado al menos en un 50% cuando se compara con el contenido de ácidos grasos correspondiente de un aceite de soja comercial, donde dicho ácido graso adicional se selecciona del grupo que consiste en ácido Iáurico, ácido mirístico, ácido palmítico, ácido esteárico, ácido estearidonico, ácido oleico, ácido linoleico, ácido gamma-linoleico, ácido eicosapentenoico y ácido docosahexenoico, y donde dicho contenido de ácido graso adicional es provocado por la regulacion con ADN recombinante de la expresion génica en células de la planta.
