ファルネセン単位(a1)は、α-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位であってもよく、また、下記式(I)で示されるβ-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位であってもよく、α-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位とβ-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位とを含むものでもよいが、製造容易性の観点から、β-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位を含有することが好ましい。
β-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位の含有量は、製造容易性の観点から、ファルネセン単位(a1)中、80モル%以上が好ましく、90モル%以上がより好ましく、100モル%であること、すなわちファルネセン単位(a1)のすべてがβ-ファルネセン由来の単量体単位であることが更に好ましい。
かかるファルネセン以外の他の単量体としては、ファルネセンと共重合可能なものであれば特に限定されず、例えば芳香族ビニル化合物、ファルネセン以外の共役ジエン、アクリル酸及びその誘導体、メタクリル酸及びその誘導体、アクリルアミド及びその誘導体、メタクリルアミド及びその誘導体、並びにアクリロニトリル等が挙げられる。
重合体ブロックAが前記単量体単位(a2)を含む場合、重合体ブロックAにおける連鎖配列の結合様式に制限はなく、ランダム、ブロック等のいずれの結合様式でもよい。
これら他の単量体は1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
ブロック共重合体を構成する単量体単位の総量中におけるファルネセン単位(a1)の含有量は、好ましくは0.1~30質量%、より好ましくは0.3~25質量%、更に好ましくは0.5~20質量%、より更に好ましくは0.7~15質量%、特に好ましくは0.9~10質量%の範囲である。該ファルネセン単位(a1)の含有量が前記範囲内であると、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能を向上させることができ、さらに後述するフィラー(II)としてシリカを用いる場合には、ブロック共重合体に含まれるファルネセン単位(a1)とシリカとの相互作用により、ブロック共重合体鎖の運動性が抑制され、転がり抵抗性能、及び湿潤路面でのブレーキ性能(以下、「ウェットグリップ性能」とも称する)をバランスよく改善できると考えられる。
前記ブロック共重合体を構成する単量体単位の総量中におけるファルネセン単位(a1)の含有量は、1H-NMRを用いた方法により測定できる。
共重合体ブロックBは、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)(共役ジエン単位(b1))及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)(芳香族ビニル化合物単位(b2))を含み、共重合体ブロックBを構成する単量体単位はランダムに結合を形成する。
共役ジエン単位(b1)を構成する炭素数12以下の共役ジエンとしては、例えば、ブタジエン、イソプレン、2,3-ジメチルブタジエン、2-フェニルブタジエン、1,3-ペンタジエン、2-メチル-1,3-ペンタジエン、1,3-ヘキサジエン、1,3-オクタジエン、1,3-シクロヘキサジエン、2-メチル-1,3-オクタジエン、1,3,7-オクタトリエン、ミルセン、クロロプレン等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、ブタジエン、イソプレン及びミルセンが好ましく、ブタジエンがより好ましい。これらの共役ジエンは、1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
該重合体ブロックCとしては、炭素数12以下の共役ジエンのみからなる重合体ブロック、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位と芳香族ビニル化合物以外の他の単量体単位とを含む重合体ブロック等が挙げられる。
共重合体ブロックBにおける共役ジエン単位(b1)に対する芳香族ビニル化合物単位(b2)の質量比〔(b2)/(b1)〕は、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能の観点から、好ましくは3/97~50/50、より好ましくは5/95~48/52、更に好ましくは10/90~45/55、より更に好ましくは15/85~43/57である。
共重合体ブロックB中の共役ジエン単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物単位(b2)の合計含有量は60質量%以上が好ましく、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能の観点から、より好ましくは60~100質量%、更に好ましくは70~100質量%、より更に好ましくは80~100質量%、特に好ましくは90~100質量%の範囲であり、最も好ましくは100質量%である。
本発明における重量平均分子量(Mw)は、後述する実施例に記載の方法により、ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー(GPC)により求めたポリスチレン換算によるものである。
本発明におけるガラス転移温度は、後述する実施例に記載の方法によるものである。
以下の記載において、本発明のブロック共重合体が直鎖状の形態を有する場合を「直鎖ブロック共重合体」と称し、該ブロック共重合体が分岐鎖状の形態を有する場合を「分岐ブロック共重合体」と称する。
例えば、ブロック共重合体が重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックBからなり、各ブロックが直鎖状に結合した形態としては、重合体ブロックAをA、共重合体ブロックBをBで表したときに、(A-B)p、A-(B-A)q又はB-(A-B)rで表される直鎖ブロック共重合体が挙げられる。
また、ブロック共重合体が重合体ブロックA、共重合体ブロックB及び重合体ブロックCからなり、各ブロックが直鎖状に結合した形態としては、例えば(A-B-C)sで表される直鎖ブロック共重合体が挙げられる。
なお、前記p、q、r及びsはそれぞれ独立して1以上の整数を表す。
また、ブロック共重合体が重合体ブロックAを2個以上又は共重合体ブロックBを2個以上有する場合には、それぞれの重合体ブロックは、同じであっても異なっていてもよい。例えば、A-B-Aで表されるトリブロック共重合体における2個の重合体ブロックAにおいて、ファルネセン単位(a1)を含んでいればよく、ファルネセン単位(a1)の含有量、他の単量体単位の種類及びその含有量等の重合体ブロックの構造及び分子量は、同じであっても異なっていてもよい。
(P)nX (II)
(式(II)中、Pは直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖を表し、Xはカップリング剤残基、nは2以上の整数を表す。)
ここで、Pで表される直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖は、前述のブロック共重合体と同様に構成されてなる。すなわち、直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖を構成する各重合体ブロックを構成する各単量体の種類及び含有量、該ブロック共重合体鎖における各重合体ブロックの含有量等は前記のとおりである。
また、本明細書においては、同種の重合体ブロックが2官能のカップリング剤等を介して直鎖状に結合している場合には、結合している重合体ブロック同士は、それぞれ別個の重合体ブロックとして取り扱う。例えば、カップリング剤残基Xを含むブロック共重合体としては、例えば、B-A-X-A-B又は(B-A)2Xと表記される。この場合、式(II)におけるPはB-Aで表される直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖となる。
かかるカップリング剤としては、例えば、ジエトキシジメチルシラン、トリメトキシメチルシラン、トリエトキシメチルシラン、テトラメトキシシラン、テトラエトキシシラン、テトラブトキシシラン、テトラキス(2-エチルヘキシルオキシ)シラン、ビス(トリエトキシシリル)エタン、3-アミノプロピルトリエトキシシラン等のアルコキシシラン化合物;ジビニルベンゼン;エポキシ化1,2-ポリブタジエン、エポキシ化大豆油、テトラグリシジル-1,3-ビスアミノメチルシクロヘキサン等の多価エポキシ化合物;四塩化錫、テトラクロロシラン、トリクロロシラン、トリクロロメチルシラン、ジクロロジメチルシラン、ジブロモジメチルシラン等のハロゲン化物;安息香酸メチル、安息香酸エチル、安息香酸フェニル、シュウ酸ジエチル、マロン酸ジエチル、アジピン酸ジエチル、フタル酸ジメチル、テレフタル酸ジメチル等のエステル化合物;炭酸ジメチル、炭酸ジエチル、炭酸ジフェニル等の炭酸エステル化合物;2,4-トリレンジイソシアネート等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、好ましくはアルコキシシラン化合物である。カップリング剤としてアルコキシシラン化合物を用いることにより、後述するフィラー(II)としてシリカを用いる場合には、ブロック共重合体のカップリング剤残基とシリカとの相互作用により、ブロック共重合体鎖の運動性が抑制され、転がり抵抗性能及びウェットグリップ性能をバランスよく向上させると考えられる。当該観点から、より好ましくはテトラエトキシシランである。
本明細書において、「カップリング-ブロック共重合体」とは、2つ以上の直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖がカップリング剤を介して結合されたブロック共重合体、すなわち前記式(II)においてnが2以上であるブロック共重合体を意味する。
カップリング率は、ブロック共重合体のゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー(GPC)によって得られる溶出曲線から、カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積(高分子量側のピークの面積)を、該カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積と非カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積(低分子量側のピークの面積)との和で除することにより算出される。
カップリング反応を経たブロック共重合体の溶出曲線は、非カップリング-ブロック共重合体のピークが低分子量側に検出され、カップリング-ブロック共重合体である二量化物、三量化物、四量化物等の単一のピーク又は複数のピーク群が高分子量側に検出される形状を有することが好ましい。非カップリング-ブロック共重合体のピークをピーク1とし、カップリング-ブロック共重合体の単一ピーク又はピーク群をピーク2とし、ピーク1とピーク2に重なる部分がある場合、ピーク間の谷の最も深い最底点から、溶出曲線全体のベースラインと垂直な線を引き、ピーク1と、ベースラインと、前記垂直な線とで囲まれた領域を非カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積とし、ピーク2と、ベースラインと、前記垂直な線とで囲まれた領域をカップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積としてカップリング率が算出される。
カップリング率はカップリング剤の添加量、反応温度、反応時間等によって調整することができる。
本発明において、「分子鎖末端」とはブロック共重合体鎖の末端を意味し、前記分岐ブロック共重合体の場合には腕鎖の両末端の少なくとも一方を意味する。腕鎖とは、前記式(II)において直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖Pである。
重合体ブロックAを構成するファルネセンは、側鎖を有する共役ジエンの単量体である。そのため、重合体ブロックAを分子鎖末端に有すると、ファルネセンに由来する適度な大きさの側鎖をブロック共重合体の分子鎖末端に導入することができ、これによりポリマー鎖の絡み合いが抑制される。さらに後述するゴム組成物に用いられるフィラー(II)そのものやフィラー(II)上に結合したカップリング剤との相互作用を強固にすることができる。その結果、転がり抵抗性能及びウェットグリップ性能をバランスよく改善することができる。
前記分岐ブロック共重合体における重合体ブロックA、共重合体ブロックBの好ましい態様は前述のとおりである。
本発明の製造方法は、ファルネセン由来の単量体単位(a1)を含む重合体ブロックAと、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)を含むランダム共重合体ブロックBとを含有するブロック共重合体の製造方法である。
本発明の製造方法において、重合体ブロックを形成する順序に特に制限はない。まず、反応系にファルネセンを含む単量体を供給して重合体ブロックAを形成した後、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を供給して共重合体ブロックBを形成する方法、又は、反応系に炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を供給して共重合体ブロックBを形成した後、ファルネセンを含む単量体を供給して重合体ブロックAを形成する方法等が挙げられる。また、ブロック共重合体が、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックB以外の重合体ブロックCを含有する場合には、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックBの各形成工程の前後に重合体ブロックCを形成する工程を有してもよい。
(方法(i))
工程1-1:有機金属開始剤の存在下、ファルネセンを含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックAを含有するリビング重合体を得る工程
工程1-2:工程1-1で得られる重合体ブロックAを含有するリビング重合体の存在下で、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得る工程
方法(i)において、ブロック共重合体が、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックB以外の重合体ブロックCを含有する場合には、工程1-1及び工程1-2のいずれかの工程で、重合体ブロックCを形成する工程を有してもよい。
例えば、工程1-1において、重合体ブロックCを構成する単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA及び重合体ブロックCを含有するリビング重合体を得てもよい。また、工程1-2において、重合体ブロックCを構成する単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA、共重合体ブロックB及び重合体ブロックCを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得てもよい。
工程1-1において、分子鎖末端に重合体ブロックAを有するブロック共重合体を得る観点からは、最初に重合体ブロックAを形成することが好ましい。
工程2-1:有機金属開始剤の存在下、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を重合して、共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビング重合体を得る工程
工程2-2:工程2-1で得られる共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビング重合体の存在下で、ファルネセンを含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得る工程
方法(ii)において、ブロック共重合体が、重合体ブロックA及び共重合体ブロックB以外の重合体ブロックCを含有する場合には、工程2-1及び工程2-2のいずれかの工程で、重合体ブロックCを形成する工程を有してもよい。
例えば、工程2-1において、重合体ブロックCを構成する単量体を重合して、共重合体ブロックB及び重合体ブロックCを含有するリビング重合体を得てもよい。また、工程2-2において、重合体ブロックCを構成する単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA、共重合体ブロックB及び重合体ブロックCを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得てもよい。
工程2-2において、分子鎖末端に重合体ブロックAを有するブロック共重合体を得る観点からは、最後に重合体ブロックAを形成することが好ましい。
方法(i)及び方法(ii)において、各重合体ブロックを構成する各単量体の種類及び含有量、ブロック共重合体における各重合体ブロックの含有量等は前記のとおりである。
重合に用いる有機金属開始剤の使用量は、ブロック共重合体の分子量によって適宜決められるが、ブロック共重合体を構成する単量体の総量に対して0.001~0.3質量%の範囲であることが好ましい。
重合反応は、メタノール、イソプロパノール等のアルコールを重合停止剤として添加して停止できる。得られた重合反応液をメタノール等の貧溶媒に注いでブロック共重合体を析出させるか、必要に応じて重合反応液を水で洗浄し、分離後、スチームストリッピング等で溶媒を蒸発させ乾燥することによりブロック共重合体を単離できる。また、溶媒を除去する前に、予め重合溶液と伸展油とを混合し、油展ゴムとして回収してもよい。
好ましいカップリング剤及びカップリング率は前記のとおりである。
工程1-3又は工程2-3により、得られるブロック共重合体を高分子量化させることができ、転がり抵抗性能を向上させることができる。
工程1-3及び工程2-3において、カップリング反応に供するリビングブロック共重合体の重量平均分子量(Mw)は、好ましくは5万~300万、より好ましくは10万~200万、更に好ましくは20万~100万である。該リビングブロック共重合体の分子量分布(Mw/Mn)は、好ましくは1.0~2.0、より好ましくは1.0~1.6、更に好ましくは1.0~1.3である。Mw/Mnが前記範囲内であると、カップリングされたブロック共重合体の各ブロック共重合体鎖の分子量分布の狭いブロック共重合体が得られる。
本発明における重量平均分子量及び分子量分布は、後述する実施例に記載の方法により、ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー(GPC)により求めたポリスチレン換算によるものである。
本発明のゴム組成物は、前記ブロック共重合体を含むゴム成分(I)、及びフィラー(II)を含有するゴム組成物であって、ゴム成分(I)総量中における該ブロック共重合体の含有量が0.1~99.9質量%であり、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対し、フィラー(II)を20~150質量部含有する。
ゴム成分(I)は、前記ブロック共重合体を含み、ゴム成分(I)総量中における該ブロック共重合体の含有量が0.1~99.9質量%である。これにより転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能が向上する。
ブロック共重合体のゴム成分(I)総量中における含有量は、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能の観点から、好ましくは0.5~95質量%、より好ましくは1~90質量%、更に好ましくは5~85質量%である。
ブロック共重合体以外の他のゴム成分の含有量は、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能の観点から、ゴム成分(I)総量中、0.1~99.9質量%であり、好ましくは5~99.5質量%、より好ましくは10~99質量%、更に好ましくは15~95質量%である。
ゴム成分(I)に用いられる天然ゴムは、例えばSMR(マレーシア産TSR)、SIR(インドネシア産TSR)、STR(タイ産TSR)等のTSR(Technically Specified Rubber)やRSS(Ribbed Smoked Sheet)等のタイヤ工業において一般的に用いられる天然ゴム、高純度天然ゴム、エポキシ化天然ゴム、水酸基化天然ゴム、水素添加天然ゴム、グラフト化天然ゴム等の改質天然ゴム等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、品質のばらつきが少ない点及び入手容易性の点から、SMR20、STR20又はRSS#3が好ましい。これら天然ゴムは1種単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。2種以上の天然ゴムを混合して用いる場合、その組み合わせは本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で任意に選択でき、またその組み合わせによって、物性値を調整できる。
ゴム成分(I)に用いられる合成ゴムは、2種以上の合成ゴムを混合して用いる場合、その組み合わせは本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で任意に選択でき、その組み合わせによって、物性値を調整できる。また、これらの製造方法は特に限定されず、市販されているものを使用できる。
SBRとしては、タイヤ用途に用いられる一般的なものを使用できるが、具体的には、スチレン含有量が0.1~70質量%のものが好ましく、5~50質量%のものがより好ましい。また、ビニル含有量が0.1~60質量%のものが好ましく、0.1~55質量%のものがより好ましい。
SBRの重量平均分子量(Mw)は、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能の観点から、10万~250万であることが好ましく、15万~200万であることがより好ましく、20万~150万であることが更に好ましい。
有機アルカリ金属化合物としては、例えばn-ブチルリチウム、sec-ブチルリチウム、t-ブチルリチウム、ヘキシルリチウム、フェニルリチウム、スチルベンリチウム等の有機モノリチウム化合物;ジリチオメタン、1,4-ジリチオブタン、1,4-ジリチオ-2-エチルシクロヘキサン、1,3,5-トリリチオベンゼン等の多官能性有機リチウム化合物;ナトリウムナフタレン、カリウムナフタレン等が挙げられる。これらの中でも有機リチウム化合物が好ましく、有機モノリチウム化合物がより好ましい。有機アルカリ金属化合物の使用量は、要求されるS-SBRの分子量によって適宜決められる。
溶媒としては、例えばn-ブタン、n-ペンタン、イソペンタン、n-ヘキサン、n-ヘプタン、イソオクタン等の脂肪族炭化水素;シクロペンタン、シクロヘキサン、メチルシクロペンタン等の脂環式炭化水素;ベンゼン、トルエン等の芳香族炭化水素等が挙げられる。これらの溶媒は通常、単量体濃度が1~50質量%となる範囲で用いることが好ましい。
重合反応の温度は、通常-80~150℃、好ましくは0~100℃、より好ましくは30~90℃の範囲である。重合様式は、回分式あるいは連続式のいずれでもよい。重合反応は、重合停止剤としてメタノール、イソプロパノール等のアルコールを添加して反応を停止できる。重合停止剤を添加する前に重合末端変性剤を添加してもよい。重合反応停止後の重合溶液は、直接乾燥やスチームストリッピング等により溶媒を分離して、目的のS-SBRを回収できる。なお、溶媒を除去する前に、予め重合溶液と伸展油とを混合し、油展ゴムとして回収してもよい。
ブタジエンゴムとしては、例えばチーグラー系触媒、ランタノイド系希土類金属触媒、有機アルカリ金属化合物等を用いて重合して得られる市販のブタジエンゴムを用いることができる。これらの中でも、シス体含量が高い観点から、チーグラー系触媒を用いて重合して得られるブタジエンゴムが好ましい。また、ランタノイド系希土類金属触媒を用いて得られる超高シス体含量のブタジエンゴムを用いてもよい。
ブタジエンゴムのビニル含量は、好ましくは50質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。ビニル含量が50質量%以下であると転がり抵抗性能が良好になる。ビニル含量の下限は特に限定されない。
ブタジエンゴムの重量平均分子量(Mw)は、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能の観点から、9万~200万であることが好ましく、15万~150万であることがより好ましく、25万~80万であることが更に好ましい。
上記ブタジエンゴムは、その一部が多官能型変性剤、例えば四塩化錫、四塩化珪素、エポキシ基を分子内に有するアルコキシシラン、又はアミノ基含有アルコキシシランのような変性剤を用いることにより分岐構造又は極性官能基を有していてもよい。
イソプレンゴムとしては、例えばチーグラー系触媒、ランタノイド系希土類金属触媒、有機アルカリ金属化合物等を用いて重合して得られる市販のイソプレンゴムを用いることができる。これらの中でも、シス体含量が高い観点から、チーグラー系触媒を用いて重合して得られるイソプレンゴムが好ましい。また、ランタノイド系希土類金属触媒を用いて得られる超高シス体含量のイソプレンゴムを用いてもよい。
イソプレンゴムのビニル含量は、好ましくは50質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。ビニル含量が50質量%以下であると転がり抵抗性能が良好になる。ビニル含量の下限は特に限定されない。
イソプレンゴムの重量平均分子量(Mw)は、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能の観点から、9万~200万であることが好ましく、15万~150万であることがより好ましい。
上記イソプレンゴムは、その一部が多官能型変性剤、例えば四塩化錫、四塩化珪素、エポキシ基を分子内に有するアルコキシシラン、又はアミノ基含有アルコキシシランのような変性剤を用いることにより分岐構造又は極性官能基を有していてもよい。
本発明のゴム組成物は、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対し、フィラー(II)を20~150質量部含有する。フィラー(II)を用いることにより、機械強度、耐摩耗性、耐熱性、耐候性等の物性が改善され、硬度の調整、ゴム組成物の増量をすることができる。
本発明で用いるフィラー(II)としては、シリカ、酸化チタン等の酸化物;クレー、タルク、マイカ、ガラス繊維、ガラスバルーン等のケイ酸塩;炭酸カルシウム、炭酸マグネシウム等の炭酸塩;水酸化マグネシウム、水酸化アルミニウム等の水酸化物;硫酸カルシウム、硫酸バリウム等の硫酸塩;カーボンブラック、炭素繊維等の炭素類等の無機フィラー、樹脂粒子、木粉、コルク粉等の有機フィラー等が挙げられる。これらは1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上併用してもよい。
フィラー(II)のゴム組成物中の含有量は、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対してフィラー(II)の含有量が25~130質量部であることが好ましく、30~110質量部であることがより好ましい。フィラー(II)の含有量が前記範囲内であると、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能が向上する。
シリカとしては、例えば、乾式法シリカ(無水ケイ酸)、湿式法シリカ(無水ケイ酸)、ケイ酸カルシウム、ケイ酸アルミニウム等が挙げられるが、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能の向上の観点から、湿式法シリカが好ましい。これらは、1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
シリカの平均粒径は、成形加工性、機械強度、耐摩耗性及び制動性能の向上の観点から、0.5~200nmが好ましく、5~150nmがより好ましく、10~100nmが更に好ましく、10~60nmがより更に好ましい。
なお、シリカの平均粒径は、透過型電子顕微鏡により粒子の直径を測定して、その平均値を算出することにより求めることができる。
カーボンブラックとしては、例えば、ファーネスブラック、チャンネルブラック、サーマルブラック、アセチレンブラック、及びケッチェンブラック等のカーボンブラックを用いることができる。これらの中でも、ゴム組成物の加硫速度やその加硫物の機械強度を向上させる観点から、ファーネスブラックが好ましい。これらは、1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
ファーネスブラックの市販品としては、例えば、三菱化学株式会社製「ダイアブラック」、東海カーボン株式会社製「シースト」等が挙げられる。アセチレンブラックの市販品としては、例えば、電気化学工業株式会社製「デンカブラック」が挙げられる。ケッチェンブラックの市販品としては、例えば、ライオン株式会社製「ケッチェンブラックECP600JD」が挙げられる。
カーボンブラックの平均粒径は、カーボンブラックの分散性、タイヤの機械強度及び耐摩耗性の向上の観点から、5~100nmが好ましく、5~80nmがより好ましく、10~70nmが更に好ましい。
なお、カーボンブラックの平均粒径は、透過型電子顕微鏡により粒子の直径を測定して、その平均値を算出することにより求めることができる。
本発明のゴム組成物がシリカ及びカーボンブラック以外のフィラーを含有する場合、その含有量は、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対して、0.1~120質量部が好ましく、5~90質量部がより好ましく、10~80質量部が更に好ましい。シリカ及びカーボンブラック以外のフィラーの含有量が前記範囲内であると、加硫物の機械強度がより一層向上する。
(シランカップリング剤)
本発明のゴム組成物は、シランカップリング剤を含有することが好ましい。シランカップリング剤としては、スルフィド系化合物、メルカプト系化合物、チオエステル系化合物、ビニル系化合物、アミノ系化合物、グリシドキシ系化合物、ニトロ系化合物及びクロロ系化合物等が挙げられる。
スルフィド系化合物としては、例えばビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)テトラスルフィド、ビス(2-トリエトキシシリルエチル)テトラスルフィド、ビス(3-トリメトキシシリルプロピル)テトラスルフィド、ビス(2-トリメトキシシリルエチル)テトラスルフィド、ビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)トリスルフィド、ビス(3-トリメトキシシリルプロピル)トリスルフィド、ビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)ジスルフィド、ビス(3-トリメトキシシリルプロピル)ジスルフィド、3-トリメトキシシリルプロピル-N,N-ジメチルチオカルバモイルテトラスルフィド、3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル-N,N-ジメチルチオカルバモイルテトラスルフィド、2-トリメトキシシリルエチル-N,N-ジメチルチオカルバモイルテトラスルフィド、3-トリメトキシシリルプロピルベンゾチアゾールテトラスルフィド、3-トリエトキシシリルプロピルベンゾチアゾールテトラスルフィド、3-トリエトキシシリルプロピルメタクリレートモノスルフィド及び3-トリメトキシシリルプロピルメタクリレートモノスルフィド等が挙げられる。
メルカプト系化合物としては、例えば3-メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-メルカプトプロピルトリエトキシシラン、3-メルカプトプロピル-ジ(トリデカン-1-オキシ-13-ペンタ(エチレンオキサイド))エトキシシラン、2-メルカプトエチルトリメトキシシラン及び2-メルカプトエチルトリエトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
チオエステル系化合物としては、例えば3-ヘキサノイルチオプロピルトリエトキシシラン、3-オクタノイルチオプロピルトリエトキシシラン、3-デカノイルチオプロピルエトキシシタン、3-ラウロイルチオプロピルトリエトキシシラン、2-ヘキサノイルチオエチルトリエトキシシラン、2-オクタノイルチオエチルトリエトキシシラン、2-デカノイルチオエチルトリエトキシシラン、2-ラウロイルチオエチルトリエトキシシラン、3-ヘキサノイルチオプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-オクタノイルチオプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-デカノイルチオプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-ラウロイルチオプロピルトリメトキシシラン、2-ヘキサノイルチオエチルトリメトキシシラン、2-オクタノイルチオエチルトリメトキシシラン、2-デカノイルチオエチルトリメトキシシラン、2-ラウロイルチオエチルトリメトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
アミノ系化合物としては、例えば3-アミノプロピルトリエトキシシラン、3-アミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-(2-アミノエチル)アミノプロピルトリエトキシシラン、及び3-(2-アミノエチル)アミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
グリシドキシ系化合物としては、例えばγ-グリシドキシプロピルトリエトキシシラン、γ-グリシドキシプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-グリシドキシプロピルメチルジエトキシシラン、及びγ-グリシドキシプロピルメチルジメトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
ニトロ系化合物としては、例えば3-ニトロプロピルトリメトキシシラン、及び3-ニトロプロピルトリエトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
クロロ系化合物としては、例えば3-クロロプロピルトリメトキシシラン、3-クロロプロピルトリエトキシシラン、2-クロロエチルトリメトキシシラン、及び2-クロロエチルトリエトキシシラン等が挙げられる。
これらは、1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。これらの中でも、添加効果が大きい観点及びコストの観点から、スルフィド系化合物及びメルカプト系化合物から選ばれる1種以上が好ましく、ビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)ジスルフィド、ビス(3-トリエトキシシリルプロピル)テトラスルフィド、及び3-メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシランから選ばれる1種以上がより好ましい。
本発明のゴム組成物は、架橋剤を添加して架橋(加硫)させて用いることが好ましい。架橋剤としては、例えば硫黄及び硫黄化合物、酸素、有機過酸化物、フェノール樹脂及びアミノ樹脂、キノン及びキノンジオキシム誘導体、ハロゲン化合物、アルデヒド化合物、アルコール化合物、エポキシ化合物、金属ハロゲン化物及び有機金属ハロゲン化物、シランカップリング剤以外のシラン化合物等が挙げられる。これらの中でも硫黄及び硫黄化合物が好ましい。これらは1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。架橋剤の含有量は、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対して0.1~10質量部が好ましく、0.5~8質量部がより好ましく、0.8~5質量部が更に好ましい。
本発明のゴム組成物は、発明の効果を阻害しない範囲で、成形加工性、流動性等の改良を目的とし、必要に応じてシリコンオイル、アロマオイル、TDAE(Treated Distilled Aromatic Extracts)、MES(Mild Extracted Solvates)、RAE(Residual Aromatic Extracts)、パラフィンオイル、及びナフテンオイル等のプロセスオイル、脂肪族炭化水素樹脂、脂環族炭化水素樹脂、C9系樹脂、ロジン系樹脂、クマロン-インデン系樹脂、フェノール系樹脂等の樹脂成分、低分子量ポリブタジエン、低分子量ポリイソプレン、低分子量スチレンブタジエン共重合体、及び低分子量スチレンイソプレン共重合体等の液状重合体を軟化剤として適宜使用することができる。なお、上記共重合体はブロック又はランダム等のいずれの重合形態であってもよい。液状重合体の重量平均分子量は500~10万であることが成形加工性の観点から好ましい。
酸化防止剤としては、例えばヒンダードフェノール系化合物、リン系化合物、ラクトン系化合物、及びヒドロキシル系化合物等が挙げられる。
老化防止剤としては、例えばアミン-ケトン系化合物、イミダゾール系化合物、アミン系化合物、フェノール系化合物、硫黄系化合物及びリン系化合物等が挙げられる。
本発明のゴム組成物の製造方法は特に限定されず、前記各成分を均一に混合すればよい。均一に混合する方法としては、例えばニーダールーダー、ブラベンダー、バンバリーミキサー、インターナルミキサー等の接線式もしくは噛合式の密閉式混練機、単軸押出機、二軸押出機、ミキシングロール、ローラー等が挙げられ、通常70~270℃の温度範囲で行うことができる。
本発明のタイヤは、前記ゴム組成物を少なくとも一部に用いたタイヤである。そのため、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能に優れる。本発明のゴム組成物は、タイヤの各種部材に使用することができるが、特に乗用車用、トラックバス用、自動二輪車、産業車両用のタイヤトレッドとして好適に使用することができる。
なお、本発明のタイヤには、本発明のゴム組成物を架橋した架橋物を用いてもよい。本発明のゴム組成物あるいは本発明のゴム組成物からなる架橋物を用いたタイヤは、長期間使用した場合でも機械強度、耐摩耗性、転がり抵抗性能及びアイスグリップ性能等の特性を維持することができる。
実施例及び比較例において使用した各成分は以下の通りである。
<ゴム成分(I)>
・実施例1-1~1-2及び比較例1-1で得られたブロック共重合体
・ブタジエンゴム:BR01(JSR株式会社製、高シスタイプ〔1,4-シス結合95%〕、重量平均分子量520,000、Tg-103℃)
<フィラー(II)>
〔シリカ〕
・ULTRASIL7000GR(エボニック デグサ ジャパン株式会社製、湿式シリカ、平均粒径14nm)
〔カーボンブラック〕
・ダイアブラックI(三菱化学株式会社製、平均粒径20nm)
(シランカップリング剤)
・Si75(エボニック デグサ ジャパン株式会社製)
(架橋剤)
・硫黄:微粉硫黄200メッシュ(鶴見化学工業株式会社製)
(加硫促進剤)
・加硫促進剤(1):ノクセラーNS(大内新興化学工業株式会社製)
・加硫促進剤(2):ノクセラーM(大内新興化学工業株式会社製)
・加硫促進剤(3):ノクセラーD(大内新興化学工業株式会社製)
(加硫助剤)
・亜鉛華 :酸化亜鉛(堺化学工業株式会社製)
・ステアリン酸:ルナックS-20(花王株式会社製)
(その他の成分)
・TDAE :VivaTec500(H&R社製)
・老化防止剤 :ノクラック6C(大内新興化学工業株式会社製)
・ワックス :サンタイトS(精工化学株式会社製)
実施例1-1
窒素置換し乾燥させた耐圧容器に、溶媒としてシクロヘキサン9,500g、有機金属開始剤としてsec-ブチルリチウムの10.5質量%シクロヘキサン溶液3.5g(sec-ブチルリチウム0.37g)を仕込み、70℃に昇温した後、15.1gのテトラヒドロフランを仕込み、さらに予め調製した518gのスチレンと777gのブタジエンの混合液を10ml/分で加えて30分間重合した。次いでβ-ファルネセン15.1gを加えて30分間重合した後、カップリング剤として0.08gのテトラエトキシシランを加えて1時間反応した。得られた重合反応液にメタノールを0.2g添加して重合反応を停止させた後、TDAEを491g添加し、70℃で24時間熱風乾燥、12時間減圧乾燥することにより、油展されたブロック共重合体1を製造した。
窒素置換し乾燥させた耐圧容器に、溶媒としてシクロヘキサン9,500g、有機金属開始剤としてsec-ブチルリチウムの10.5質量%シクロヘキサン溶液5.0g(sec-ブチルリチウム0.53g)を仕込み、70℃に昇温した後、15.1gのテトラヒドロフランを仕込み、β‐ファルネセン259gを加えて30分間重合した。次いで予め調製した402gのスチレンと635gのブタジエンの混合液を10ml/分で加えて30分間重合した。次いでブタジエン9.3gを加えて30分間重合した後、カップリング剤として0.08gのテトラエトキシシランを加えて1時間反応した。得られた重合反応液にメタノールを0.3g添加して重合反応を停止させた後、TDAEを489g添加し、70℃で24時間熱風乾燥、12時間減圧乾燥することにより、油展されたブロック共重合体2を製造した。
窒素置換し乾燥させた耐圧容器に、溶媒としてシクロヘキサン9,460g、有機金属開始剤としてsec-ブチルリチウムの(10.5質量%シクロヘキサン溶液)3.5g(sec-ブチルリチウム0.37g)を仕込み、70℃に昇温した後、15.1gのテトラヒドロフランを仕込み、さらに予め調製した516gのスチレンと774gのブタジエンの混合液を10ml/分で加えて30分間重合した。次いでブタジエン9.0gを加えて30分間重合した後、カップリング剤として0.08gのテトラエトキシシランを加えて1時間反応した。得られた重合反応液にメタノールを0.2g添加して重合反応を停止させた後、TDAEを487g添加し、70℃で24時間熱風乾燥、12時間減圧乾燥することにより、油展されたブロック共重合体X1を製造した。
重量平均分子量(Mw)はGPC(ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー)により標準ポリスチレン換算で求めた。測定装置及び条件は、以下の通りである。
・装置 :東ソー株式会社製GPC装置「HLC-8320」
・分離カラム :東ソー株式会社製「TSKgelSuperHZM-M」
・溶離液 :テトラヒドロフラン
・溶離液流量 :0.7ml/分
・サンプル濃度:5mg/10ml
・カラム温度 :40℃
カップリング率は、得られたブロック共重合体の上記GPC(ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィー)によって得られる溶出曲線から、カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積(高分子量側のピークの面積)を、該カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積と非カップリング-ブロック共重合体の面積(低分子量側のピークの面積)との和で除することにより算出した。
ブロック共重合体10mgをアルミパンに採取し、示差走査熱量測定(DSC)により10℃/分の昇温速度条件においてサーモグラムを測定し、微分曲線(DDSC)のピークトップの値をガラス転移温度とした。
JIS K 6300-1:2013に準拠し、ブロック共重合体(油展品)の100℃におけるムーニー粘度(予備加熱1分後、回転開始4分後)を測定した。
表2に記載した配合割合(質量部)にしたがって、ゴム成分(I)、フィラー(II)、シランカップリング剤、加硫助剤、TDAE、老化防止剤、及びワックスを、それぞれ密閉式バンバリーミキサーに投入して開始温度75℃、樹脂温度が150℃となるように6分間混練した後、ミキサー外に取り出して室温まで冷却し、混合物(1)を得た。次いで、この混合物(1)を再度密閉式バンバリーミキサーに投入し、樹脂温度が150℃になるように6分間混練した後、ミキサー外に取り出して室温まで冷却し、混合物(2)を得た。さらにこの混合物(2)を再度密閉式バンバリーミキサーに投入し、架橋剤(硫黄)及び加硫促進剤(1)~(3)を加えて開始温度50℃、到達温度100℃となるように75秒混練することでゴム組成物を得た。
得られたゴム組成物をプレス成形(プレス条件:160℃、15分)して架橋物(加硫ゴム)のシート(厚み2mm)(加硫シート)を作製し、下記の方法に基づき、転がり抵抗性能を評価した。
また、上記と同様にして得られたゴム組成物をプレス成形(プレス条件:160℃、25分)して加硫させ、直径80mm、幅16mmのタイヤ形状の加硫ゴムサンプルを作製し、下記の方法に基づき、アイスグリップ性能を評価した。
転がり抵抗性能の指標として、tanδを測定した。
各実施例及び比較例で作製した加硫シートから縦40mm×横7mmの試験片を切り出し、GABO社製動的粘弾性測定装置を用いて、測定温度60℃、周波数10Hz、静的歪み10%、動的歪み2%の条件で、tanδを測定し、その逆数の値を転がり抵抗性能として評価した。結果を表2に示す。
表2において、各実施例の数値は、比較例2-1の値を100とした際の相対値であり、この数値が大きいほど転がり抵抗性能が良好である。
アイスグリップ性能の指標として、氷上摩擦係数(μ)の評価を行った。
各実施例及び比較例で得られた加硫ゴムサンプルの氷上摩擦係数を、下記測定装置を用いて測定した。測定装置及び条件は、以下のとおりである。
タイヤと路面のスリップ率を0から40%までの範囲で摩擦係数を測定し、得られた摩擦係数の最大値を、氷上摩擦係数(μ)とした。結果を表2に示す。
表2において、各実施例の数値は、比較例2-1の値を100とした際の相対値であり、この数値が高いほど、アイスグリップ性能が良好である。
〔測定装置及び測定条件〕
・装置:株式会社上島製作所製 RTM摩擦試験機
・測定温度:-3.0℃
・路面:氷
・速度:30km/時間
・荷重:50N
・スリップ率:0~40%
タイヤの制動性能の指標として、さらにウェットグリップ性能を評価した。
実施例2-1及び比較例2-1で作製した加硫シートから縦40mm×横7mmの試験片を切り出し、GABO社製動的粘弾性測定装置を用いて、測定温度0℃、周波数10Hz、静的歪み10%、動的歪み2%の条件で、tanδを測定し、ウェットグリップ性能として評価した。結果を表3に示す。
表3において、実施例2-1の数値は、比較例2-1の値を100とした際の相対値である。この相対値が大きいほどウェットグリップ性能が良好である。
Claims (12)
- ファルネセン由来の単量体単位(a1)を含む重合体ブロックAと、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)を含むランダム共重合体ブロックBとを含有するブロック共重合体であり、
該ブロック共重合体における重合体ブロックAとランダム共重合体ブロックBとの質量比(A/B)が30/70~0.5/99.5であり、
ランダム共重合体ブロックB中の芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)の含有量が1~50質量%であり、
ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィーで求めたポリスチレン換算の重量平均分子量(Mw)が10万~500万である、ブロック共重合体。 - 重合体ブロックA中のファルネセン由来の単量体単位(a1)の含有量が60質量%以上である、請求項1に記載のブロック共重合体。
- ランダム共重合体ブロックB中の炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)の合計含有量が60質量%以上である、請求項1又は2に記載のブロック共重合体。
- 前記ブロック共重合体の少なくとも一部が、直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖の末端同士がカップリング剤を介して結合したブロック共重合体であり、カップリング率が40質量%以下である、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載のブロック共重合体。
- 前記ブロック共重合体の少なくとも一部が、直鎖ブロック共重合体鎖の末端同士がカップリング剤を介して結合した分岐ブロック共重合体である、請求項1~4のいずれかに記載のブロック共重合体。
- 重合体ブロックAを分子鎖末端に有する、請求項1~5のいずれかに記載のブロック共重合体。
- ファルネセン由来の単量体単位(a1)を含む重合体ブロックAと、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)を含むランダム共重合体ブロックBとを含有するブロック共重合体の製造方法であり、
下記工程1-1及び工程1-2を含む、ブロック共重合体の製造方法。
工程1-1:有機金属開始剤の存在下、ファルネセンを含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックAを含有するリビング重合体を得る工程
工程1-2:工程1-1で得られる重合体ブロックAを含有するリビング重合体の存在下で、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA及びランダム共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得る工程 - さらに下記工程1-3を含む、請求項7に記載のブロック共重合体の製造方法。
工程1-3:工程1-2で得られるリビングブロック共重合体の少なくとも一部をカップリング剤によりカップリングする工程 - ファルネセン由来の単量体単位(a1)を含む重合体ブロックAと、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン由来の単量体単位(b1)及び芳香族ビニル化合物由来の単量体単位(b2)を含むランダム共重合体ブロックBとを含有するブロック共重合体の製造方法であり、
下記工程2-1及び工程2-2を含む、ブロック共重合体の製造方法。
工程2-1:有機金属開始剤の存在下、炭素数12以下の共役ジエン、及び芳香族ビニル化合物を含む単量体を重合して、ランダム共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビング重合体を得る工程
工程2-2:工程2-1で得られるランダム共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビング重合体の存在下で、ファルネセンを含む単量体を重合して、重合体ブロックA及びランダム共重合体ブロックBを含有するリビングブロック共重合体を得る工程 - さらに下記工程2-3を含む、請求項9に記載のブロック共重合体の製造方法。
工程2-3:工程2-2で得られるリビングブロック共重合体の少なくとも一部をカップリング剤によりカップリングする工程 - 請求項1~6のいずれかに記載のブロック共重合体を含むゴム成分(I)、及びフィラー(II)を含有するゴム組成物であって、ゴム成分(I)総量中における該ブロック共重合体の含有量が0.1~99.9質量%であり、ゴム成分(I)100質量部に対し、フィラー(II)を20~150質量部含有する、ゴム組成物。
- 請求項11に記載のゴム組成物を少なくとも一部に用いたタイヤ。
