본 발명은 카본이 코팅된 담지 촉매를 수용액 상에서 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산(Cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, CHDA) 수소화 반응에 의한 사이클로헥산 디메탄올(Cyclohexane dimethanol, CHDM) 생산을 수행하는 경우 기존의 촉매보다 빠른 반응속도 및 촉매 안정성을 얻을 수 있는 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매 및 이를 포함하는 사이클로헥산 디메탄올의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
Description
본원 발명은 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 카본이 코팅된 담지 촉매를 수용액 상에서 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산(Cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, CHDA) 수소화 반응에 의한 사이클로헥산 디메탄올(Cyclohexane dimethanol, CHDM) 생산을 수행하는 경우 기존의 촉매보다 빠른 반응속도 및 촉매 안정성을 얻을 수 있는 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
사이클로헥산 디메탄올 (CHDM, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol)은 폴리에스테르 혹은 폴리아마이드 수지 생산을 위한 기초원료이고, 현재 상업적으로 아시아에서는 SK 케미칼, Mitsubishi 상사, 그리고 Shin Nippon Rika 의 합작 회사인 SK NJC 가 생산하고 있으며, 전 세계적으로는 Indorama [(구) Eastman] 사가 전체 시장을 선점하고 있다. CHDM 시장은 고부가가치의 폴리에스테르 수지에 대한 수요가 증가하는 추세이고, 이후에도 증가될 전망이기 때문에 안정된 수급이 필요하다. 현재 CHDM 생산량은 Indorama 가 100 KTA, SK NJC가 20 KTA 규모를 보유하고 있으며, SK NJC에서는 18년까지 60 KTA로 증산 계획에 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 최근 기존 보유 2개 생산 라인에서 1개 생산라인을 증설한 것으로 알려져 있다.
문헌에 알려진 바에 의하면, PTA (Purified terephthalic acid) 를 이용하여 CHDM을 제조방법은 크게 3 가지 방법이 있다. 첫번째, Sumitomo seika chemical의 PTA를 수용액상에서 NaOH로 ionization 한 후 Salt로 만들어 PTA 용해도를 증가시켜 수소 첨가 반응하는 방법이 있다. 이 합성법은 낮은 온도에서 PTA 용해도 증가에 따라 수첨 반응 온도를 낮출 수 있는 장점을 갖고 있으나 (40 ~130℃), 반응 후 HCl로 중화 처리하여 Na+ 이온을 회수하는 공정이 필수로 요구되고 있으며, 잔존 Na+ Salt 가 반응 후 PETG 중합에 영향을 줄 뿐 아니라, NaCl을 함유하는 Brine 용액은 폐수 처리 비용을 과다 발생시켜 생산 공정의 경제성에 나쁜 영향을 준다고 알려져 있다. 두번째, Indorama 와 SK NJC 에서 제조하는 방법으로 PTA를 esterification에 의해 DMT (Dimethyl terephthalate) 제조 후 DMCD (Dimethyl cyclohexane dicarboxylate)를 거쳐서 CHDM 를 제조하는 공정이다. 해당 공정은 DMCD에서 CHDM을 생산할 때, Cu 나 Cr 기반의 촉매를 사용하기 때문에 촉매 가격측면에서는 비교적 저렴하나 전체적으로는 3 단계 (PTA DMT → DMCD CHDM) 제조공정이기 때문에 공정 측면에서 불리하다. 또한, 상기 과정은 두 공정상의 서로 다른 용매를 사용하기 때문에 다량의 폐수가 발생하는 문제가 있고, 원료인 PTA보다 고가인 DMT를 원재로로 사용하고 있는 실정이다.
반면에, 세번째인 PTA에서 CHDA를 거쳐 CHDM을 생산하는 공정은 CHDA 수소화반응시 활성금속으로 귀금속인 루테늄을 사용하여 촉매의 가격적 측면에서 불리하긴 하지만, 2단계 공정 (PTA CHDA → CHDM)으로 최종생성물인 CHDM을 얻을 수 있기 때문에, 공정단축으로 제품원가를 줄이고 공정 기술의 경쟁력을 확보한다면 경제성 측면에서 유리하다고 판단된다.
PTA를 거쳐 CHDA 및 CHDM을 생산하는 두 단계의 공정은TPA의 aromatic ring을 saturation 하는 1단계 반응보다 di-carboxylic acid 의 hydrodeoxygenation 에 의한 alcohol로의 전환 반응인 2단계 반응의 난도가 높아 상업화 단계의 허들(huddle)로 작용하고 있다. 따라서 2단계 반응인 CHDA의 수소화 공정에 적합한 촉매의 고효율/장수명 촉매의 개발이 시급한 실정이다.
본원 발명은 상기와 같은 종래기술의 문제점과 과거로부터 요청되어온 기술적 과제를 해결하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본원 발명의 목적은, 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3)에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매를 이용하여 디카르복실산(dicarboxylic acid)로부터 디올(diol)을 생산할 경우, 높은 활성 및 촉매 반응 안정성을 유지할 수 있는 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매 및 이의 제조방법을 제공하는 데 있다.
이러한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본원 발명에 따른 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매는,
카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 귀금속-전이금속을 담지한 복합 촉매로써,
상기 담체는 전체 100 중량부에 대해, 상기 알루미나(Al2O3) 40 ~ 95 중량부와 실리카(SiO2) 5 ~ 60 중량부 및
상기 귀금속과 상기 전이금속을 상기 카본 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 귀금속은 팔라듐(Pd), 로듐(Rh), 루테늄(Ru) 및 백금(Pt)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 귀금속은 상기 담체 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 10 중량부로 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 전이금속은 주석(Sn), 철(Fe), 레늄(Re) 및 갈륨(Ga)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 전이금속은 상기 담체 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 10 중량부로 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 귀금속 전구체와 전이금속 전구체는 상기 담체에 동일한 몰비로 담지될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 카본은 탄소화 과정(carbonization process)을 통해 실리카-알루미나 표면에 코팅될 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명은 상기 촉매를 이용한 디카르복실산 작용기(dicarboxylic acid group)를 수소화하는 수소화 방법 및 상기 촉매 상에서 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산 (Cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, CHDA)의 수소화 반응을 수행하여 제조되는 사이클로헥산 디메탄올 (Cyclohexane dimethanol, CHDM)을 제공한다.
본 발명의 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 디카르복실산은 옥살산(oxalic acid), 말론산(malonic acid), 숙신산(succinic acid), 글루타르산(glutaric acid), 아디프산(adipic acid), 피멜산(pimelic acid), 수베릭산(suberic acid), 아젤라익산(azelaic acid), 세바식산(sebacic acid), 말산 (malic acid), 아스파르트산(aspartic acid), 글루탐산(glutamic acid), 프탈산(phthalic acid), 이소프탈산(isopthalic acid), 테레프탈산(terephthalic acid) 및 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산 (cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 하나를 포함할 수 있다.
또, 본 발명은 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법을 제공하는 바,
(a) 탄소 전구체 수용액에 붕산(boric acid)를 용해시킨 후 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3)에 담지하여 복합체를 제조하는 단계;
(b) 상기 복합체를 탄소화시키는 단계;
(c) 상기 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3) 담체에 귀금속-전이금속을 담지하는 단계; 및
(d) 상기 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3) 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 산화물을 수소로 환원하는 단계;를 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 단계(a)에서, 상기 탄소 전구체와 상기 붕산은 1:0.005 ~ 0.1 중량비로 투입될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 단계(a)에서, 상기 복합체는 상기 담체에 습윤함침법(incipient-wetness impregnation)에 의해 담지되어 제조될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 탄소화 과정은 질소 분위기에서 300 ~ 700 ℃의 온도 범위에서 수행될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 단계 (c)에서, 상기 귀금속 및 전이금속을 상기 담체 100 중량부에 대하여, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 담지될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 하나의 바람직한 예에서, 상기 단계 (d)에서, 상기 환원 과정은 400 ~ 600℃의 온도 범위에서 수행될 수 있다.
이상 설명한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 촉매 및 이의 제조방법은 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3)에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 촉매를 이용하여 디카르복실산(dicarboxylic acid)로부터 디올(diol)을 생산할 경우, 높은 활성 및 촉매 반응 안정성을 유지할 수 있는 효과가 있다.

또한, 상기 "탄화수소기"는 특별한 언급이 없는 한, 선형, 분지형 또는 환형의 포화 또는 불포화 탄화수소기를 의미하고, 상기 알킬기, 알케닐기, 알키닐기 등은 선형, 분지형 또는 환형일 수 있다.
또한, 본 명세서에서 특별한 언급이 없는 한, "알킬기"란 C1 내지 C30 알킬기를 의미하고, "아릴기"란 C6 내지 C30 아릴기를 의미한다. 본 명세서에서, "헤테로 고리기"란 O, S, N, P, Si 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 헤테로 원자를 하나의 고리 내에 1개 내지 3개 함유하는 기를 말하며, 예컨대, 피리딘, 티오펜, 피라진 등을 의미하나 이에 제한되지 않는다.
본 발명의 상세한 설명에서 용어 디카르복실산(dicarboxylic acid)은 한 개의 분자 안에 두개의 카르복실산 작용기를 가진 유기산을 의미한다. 예컨대, 디카르복실산의 분자식은 HOOC-R-COOH로 나타내며, 본 발명에서는 R이 알킬기 또는 아릴기인 것이 바람직하다.
이하, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 본 발명을 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 하기 위하여, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예들에 관하여 상세히 설명하기로 한다.
상술한 바와 같이, 종래의 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산 (Cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, CHDA)의 수소화 반응 기술에서 저가의 담체를 사용하면서도 기존의 촉매보다 높은 반응 활성 및 수열 안정성이 확보된 촉매를 이용한 사이클로헥산 디메탄올 (Cyclohexane dimethanol, CHDM) 제조에 대한 한계가 있었다.
이에 본 발명에서는 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체에 귀금속-전이금속을 담지한 촉매로써, 상기 담체는 전체 100 중량부에 대해, 상기 알루미나(Al2O3) 40 ~ 95 중량부와 실리카(SiO2) 5 ~ 60 중량부 및 상기 귀금속과 상기 전이금속을 상기 카본 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 포함하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 촉매를 제공하여 상기의 문제점에 대한 해결을 모색하였다.
담체는 산의 영향을 받아 촉매 독으로 작용할 수 있기 때문에 실리카, 알루미나, 산화지르코늄, 이산화티타늄 등의 금속산화물, 실리카-알루미나 등의 복합산화물, 산성 활성탄, 제올라이트 등이 사용될 수 있다.
여기서, 일반적으로, 알루미나 담체의 경우에는 수열 반응 조건에서 감마 알루미나의 구조가 보헤마이트 구조로 변화될 수 있는 단점이 있어서 알루미나의 수열 안정성을 증가시키기 위한 방법으로 제2의 다른 성분으로 전처리를 수행하는 방법이 다양하게 소개되어 있다. 또한, 실리카를 담체로 사용하는 경우에는 알루미나 담체와 비교하여 코발트와 담체와의 강한 결합으로 인하여 환원 과정에서 코발트 금속의 환원성 감소 및 이로 이한 활성 저하 현상이 관찰되는데 이를 극복하기 위한 방법으로서 지르코니움 등의 금속을 이용하여 실리카 표면을 전처리하여 주는 방법 등이 기존 기술로 소개되어 있다.
이에, 본 발명의 담체는 Al2O3와 SiO2의 두 성분이 동시에 존재하여 각 알루미나와 실리카 성분의 단독 사용 시의 단점을 개선하면서, 상기 알루미나-실리카 담체에 탄소 전구체를 포함하는 용액을 습윤함침법(incipient-wetness impregnation)을 통하여 담지시켜 복합체를 형성시킨 후에 이를 탄소화 과정을 거쳐서 dicarboxylic acid 수소화 반응용 촉매로 사용한다.
이하에서는 전술한 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 촉매의 조성물에 대해서 보다 구체적으로 설명하기로 한다.
먼저, 본 발명에 따르면, 바람직하게는 상기 알루미나 성분은 상기 담체 전체 100 중량부에 대해, 40 ~ 95 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 55 ~ 85 중량부로 포함할 수 있고, 더욱 바람직하게는 80 ~ 85 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 알루미나 성분이 40 중량부 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는 실리카-알루미나 담체의 높은 산점으로 인해 반응 중 hydrocracking에 의해 부산물이 과다하게 생성될 문제가 있을 있고, 상기 알루미나 성분이 95 중량부를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는 알루미나의 수열 안정성의 문제가 있을 수 있으므로 상기의 범위가 적합하다.
또, 바람직하게는 상기 실리카 성분은 상기 담체 전체 100 중량부에 대해, 5 ~ 60 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 5 ~ 35 중량부로 포함할 수 있고, 더욱 바람직하게는 5 ~ 10 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 실리카 성분이 5 중량부 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는 알루미나의 수열 안정성의 문제가 있을 수 있고, 상기 실리카 성분이 50 중량부를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는 실리카-알루미나 담체의 높은 산점에 의해 hydrocracking 문제가 있을 수 있으므로 상기의 범위가 적합하다.
그 다음, 상기 귀금속은 팔라듐(Pd), 로듐(Rh), 루테늄(Ru) 및 백금(Pt)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다. 여기서, 본 발명에 따르면, 상기 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 1 ~ 10 중량부로 포함할 수 있고, 더욱 바람직하게는 3 ~ 8 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 귀금속이 1 중량부 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는 전환 효율이 낮아 생산 효율이 저하되는 문제가 있을 있고, 상기 귀금속이 10 중량부를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는 높은 촉매 가격과 목적 생성물의 낮은 선택도로 인하여 공정상의 추가 비용이 발생할 수 있는 문제가 있을 수 있으므로 상기의 범위가 적합하다.
다음으로, 상기 전이금속은 주석(Sn), 철(Fe), 레늄(Re) 및 갈륨(Ga)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다. 여기서, 본 발명에 따르면, 상기 전이금속은 상기 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나 담체 100 중량부에 대해, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 1 ~ 10 중량부로 포함할 수 있고, 더욱 바람직하게는3 ~ 8 중량부로 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 전이금속이 1 중량부 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는 반응의 전환효율이 떨어지거나 목적 생성물의 선택도가 저하되어 공정상에서의 분리, 회수 비용이 과다하게 사용 될 수 있는 문제가 있을 수 있고, 상기 전이금속이 10 중량부를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는 높은 부산물의 발생으로 인해 추가 공정이 필요한 단점이 있을 수 있으므로 상기의 범위가 적합하다.
한편, 본 발명은 상기의 촉매를 이용한 수소화 방법을 제공하며, 구체적인 예에서, 촉매 상에서 사이클로헥산 디카르복실산 (Cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, CHDA)의 수첨 반응을 통하여 사이클로헥산 디메탄올 (Cyclohexane dimethanol, CHDM)을 제조할 수 있다.
이하에서는 전술한 조성물을 포함하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법에 대해 설명한다.
본 발명에서는 전술한 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법을 제공하는 바, 구체적으로, 탄소 전구체 수용액에 붕산(boric acid)를 용해시킨 후 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3)에 담지하여 복합체를 제조하는 단계, 상기 복합체를 탄소화시키는 단계, 상기 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3) 담체에 귀금속-전이금속을 담지하는 단계 및 상기 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3) 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 산화물을 수소로 환원하는 단계를 포함한다.
도 1을 참조하면, 탄소 전구체 수용액에 붕산(boric acid)를 용해시킨 후 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3)에 담지하여 복합체를 제조 한 후, 상기 복합체를 질소 분위기에서 500 ℃의 온도에서 도입시켜 탄소화 과정을 수행한다. 그 다음에 카본이 코팅된 실리카-알루미나(SiO2-Al2O3) 담체에 전술한 함량비를 포함하는 상기 귀금속 전구체와 상기 전이금속 전구체를 각각 동시에 습윤함침법(co-impregnation)에 의해 담지시켜 귀금속-전이금속 산화물을 수소로 환원시킴으로써, 카본이 코팅된 담체에 귀금속-전이금속을 포함하는 촉매를 제조한다.
여기서, 본 발명에 따르면, 상기 탄소 전구체 수용액에 투입되는 상기 탄소 전구체와 상기 붕산은 1:0.005 ~ 0.1 중량비로 투입될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 1:0.007 ~ 0.07 중량비로 투입될 수 있고, 더욱 바람직하게는 1:0.01 ~ 0.05 중량비로 투입될 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 붕산이 0.005 중량비 미만으로 포함되는 경우에는 활성금속의 electronic charge density가 감소하여 수소 흡착량을 감소시키며 궁극적으로 촉매 반응 활성이 저하되는 문제가 있을 수 있고, 상기 붕산이 0.1 중량비를 초과하여 포함되는 경우에는 과량의 붕산이 목적생성물에 녹아 나와 생성물의 품질에 문제가 있을 수 있으므로 상기의 범위가 적합하다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예(example)를 제시한다. 다만, 하기의 실시예는 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위한 것일 뿐, 본 발명이 하기의 실험예에 의해 한정되는 것은 아니다.
[실시예]
<실시예 1> SiO2-Al2O3 에 카본을 ]코팅하여 복합체 제조
우선 sucrose (알드리치 사) 9.75 g을 증류수 10 ml에 넣고 자력 교반기를 이용하여 교반한다. Sucrose를 완전히 증류수에 녹인 뒤, Boric acid (알드리치 사) 0.2 g을 첨가하여 sucrose 수용액에 2시간 동안 용해시켰다. 이후 상기 용액을 SiO2-Al2O3 담체에 습윤함침법 (incipient-wetness impregnation) 방법을 통해 담지하였다.
이렇게 제조된 복합체는 탄소화 과정 (carbonization process)을 통해 코팅된 sucrose를 탄소화 시켰다. 탄소화는 300 ℃에서 3시간 처리하였다. 이때, SiO2-Al2O3 표면의 hydroxyl group과 sucrose 간의 dehydration 을 통해 sucrose가 SiO2-Al2O3 표면에 붙었다. 이후 500 ℃ 에서 다시 3시간 탄소화 과정을 거쳐서 surface에 붙어있는 sucrose가 polycyclic aromatic carbon sheet로 변한 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 탄소화 과정에서의 질소는 100 cc/min으로 흘려주며, 승온속도 (ramping rate)는 5 ℃/min의 조건으로 진행하였다.
<실시예 2> C-SiO2-Al2O3 담체에 귀금속 루테늄-주석을 담지
C-SiO2-Al2O3 담체에 루테늄과 주석을 담지 하기 위해 루테늄 전구체 (RuCl3, 코지마 사)와 주석 전구체 (SnCl2, 알드리치 사)를 증류수 수용액에 녹인 후 두 전구체를 한꺼번에 담지하는 습윤함침법 (co-impregnation)으로 담지시켰다. 이러한 촉매는 C-SiO2-Al2O3 담체 100 중량부 기준으로 5중량부로 루테늄을 담지하며 이때의 주석의 양은 루테늄과 동일 몰수로 담지하여 500 ℃ 에서 3시간 동안 환원 (100cc/min H2:30/N2:70)하여 dicarboxylic acid 수소화 반응용 촉매로 사용하였다.
<실시예 3> Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매를 이용한 CHDA의 전환을 통한 CHDM 생산 반응
C-SiO2-Al2O3에 담지된 루테늄-주석 촉매 (Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3)를 이용하여 dicarboxylic acid의 diol로의 수첨 전환 반응에 적용하였다. 수첨 전환 반응에는 dicarboxylic acid로 대표되는 cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (CHDA로 표기)로 선정하여 선택적 수첨을 통한 cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM로 표기)으로 전환하였다. 본 반응은 액상 반응으로 진행하였으며, 내산성의 titania 재질의 회분식 반응기 (batch reactor)를 사용하였다. 반응을 위해 고온 및 고압용 오토클레이브 (autoclave) 반응기에 반응물인 CHDA와 촉매를 중량비로 3.75 : 1이 되도록 충진하고, 반응 용매로는 증류수를 충진하였다. 이때 반응 용매대비 반응물의 양은 7wt%로 고정하였다. 이후 반응기를 수소를 이용해 반응 압력까지 가압하여 수소 감지기를 통해 반응기의 leak 여부를 확인한 후 감압 및 환기 (purge)하여 반응기 내부의 산소를 모두 제거하였다. 최종적으로 반응기 내부 압력을 10bar로 맞춰준 뒤 반응기 내부 온도를 반응 온도까지 가열하고, 수소 분위기의 반응 압력으로 가압한 뒤 6시간 반응을 진행하였다. 반응은 230 ℃ 90 bar에서 6시간 진행하며, 교반은 overhead impeller를 이용해 1000 rpm의 속도를 유지하였다. 반응 후 상온까지 냉각 및 해압 후 촉매와 액상 생성물을 여과법으로 분리하여 HP-1 컬럼이 장착된 가스 크로마토그래피로 분석하였다. CHDA 전환에 따라 생성된 CHDM, CHMA, ester등의 전환율, 선택도 및 수율은 하기의 수학식 1 내지 수학식 3을 이용하여 계산하였다.

이와 관련하여, CHDA의 수첨 반응을 통한 CHDM을 생산하는데 있어 Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매의 성능 평가를 위해 반응은 총 10회 동안 장기 안정 테스트를 진행하였으며, 그 결과를 도 2에 나타내었다. 반응은 230 ℃, 90bar 의 수소 분위기에서 6시간 반응시켰다.
그 결과, CHDA의 전환율은 10회차 반응 결과 모두 99% 이상으로 나타났으며, CHDM의 수율은 93 ~ 97% 범위의 값을 갖는 것을 확인하였다.
[비교예]
<비교예 1> Ru-Sn/ SiO2-Al2O3 촉매 제조 및 CHDA 수첨 반응 실험
Ru-Sn/SiO2-Al2O3 촉매는 실시예 1에서의 carbon 을 coating 과정을 제외하고 동일한 방법으로 제조하였다.
구체적으로, SiO2-Al2O3 담체 100 중량부 기준으로 5중량부로 루테늄을 담지하고, 이때의 주석의 양은 루테늄과 동일 몰수로 담지하여 500 ℃ 에서 3시간 동안 환원(100cc/min H2:30/N2:70)하여 dicarboxylic acid 수소화 반응용 촉매로 사용하였다.
이와 관련하여, Ru-Sn/SiO2-Al2O3 촉매의 수열 안정성을 확인하기 위해 촉매를 반응 조건에서 60시간 수열 처리 후, 초기 반응 활성과 비교 평가하여 도 3에 나타내었다.
그 결과, Ru-Sn/SiO2-Al2O3 촉매는 Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매와 마찬가지로 우수한 초기 활성을 보이나 60시간 수열 조건에 노출 된 후 반응 활성이 크게 저하됨을 확인할 수 있었다.
<비교예 2> Ru-Sn/ C-Al2O3 촉매 제조 및 CHDA 수첨 반응 실험
Ru-Sn/C-Al2O3 촉매는 Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매의 성능 및 내구성 검증을 위해 비교 SiO2--Al2O3 담체 대신 Al2O3 담체를 사용하여 제조하였다. 촉매 제조방법은 실시예 1 에서의 C-SiO2-Al2O3 담체를 제조하는 방법에서 SiO2-Al2O3를 Al2O3로 변경하는 것을 제외하고 동일하게 수행하였다.
구체적으로, sucrose (알드리치 사) 9.75 g을 증류수 10 ml에 넣고 자력 교반기를 이용하여 교반 하였다. 상기 Sucrose를 완전히 증류수에 녹인 뒤, Boric acid (알드리치 사) 0.2 g을 첨가하여 sucrose 수용액에 2시간 동안 용해시켰다. 이후 상기 용액을 Al2O3 담체에 습윤함침법 (incipient-wetness impregnation) 방법을 통해 담지 하였다.
상기 복합체는 탄소화 과정 (carbonization press)을 통해 코팅된 sucrose를 탄소화 시켰다. 이러한 탄소화는 300 ℃에서 3시간 처리하였고, 이때 Al2O3 표면의 hydroxyl group과 sucrose 간의 dehydration 을 통해 sucrose 가 Al2O3 표면에 붙게 된다. 이후 500 ℃ 에서 3시간 탄소화 과정을 거치면 surface에 붙어있는 sucrose가 polycyclic aromatic carbon sheet로 변하게 된다. 상기 탄소화 과정에서의 질소는 100 cc/min으로 흘려주며, 승온 속도 (ramping rate)는 5 ℃/min의 조건으로 진행하였다.
C-Al2O3 담체에 루테늄과 주석을 담지 하기 위해 루테늄 전구체 (RuCl3, 코지마 사)와 주석 전구체 (SnCl2, 알드리치 사)를 증류수 수용액에 녹인 후 두 전구체를 한꺼번에 담지하는 습윤함침법 (co-impregnation)으로 담지하였다. 상기 촉매는 C-Al2O3 담체 100 중량부 기준으로 5중량부로 루테늄을 담지하며 이때의 주석의 양은 루테늄과 동일 몰수로 담지하여 500 ℃ 에서 3시간 동안 환원(100cc/min H2:30/N2:70)하여 dicarboxylic acid 수소화 반응용 촉매로 사용하였다.
이와 관련하여, 실시예 3에 적용된 Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매와 성능 및 내구성을 비교하기 위해 비교예 2 에서 생산된 carbon 이 coating 된 Al2O3 (C- Al2O3)에 담지된 이종금속 촉매 (Ru-Sn/C-Al2O3)를 CHDA 전환 반응에 적용하였다. 실험 과정은 실시예 3 에서의 과정과 동일하며, 반응 속도를 비교하기 위해 각각의 촉매의 5회 활성 결과를 시간에 따라서 도시하여 도 4에 나타내었다.
반응 결과 Ru-Sn/C-SiO2-Al2O3 촉매가 Ru-Sn/C-Al2O3 촉매보다 빠른 시간에 CHDM을 생산하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 촉매가 좀 더 효율적으로 CHDM을 생산하는 것을 알 수 있다.
이상 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 도면을 참조하여 설명하였지만, 본 발명이 속한 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 상기 내용을 바탕으로 본 발명의 범주 내에서 다양한 응용 및 변형을 행하는 것이 가능할 것이다.

- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 단계(a)에서,상기 복합체는 상기 담체에 습윤함침법(incipient-wetness impregnation)에 의해 담지되어 제조되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 단계(b)에서,상기 탄소화 과정은 질소 분위기에서 300 ~ 700℃의 온도 범위에서 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 단계 (c)에서,상기 귀금속 및 전이금속을 상기 담체 100 중량부에 대하여, 1 ~ 20 중량부로 담지되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 단계 (d)에서,상기 환원 과정은 400 ~ 600℃의 온도 범위에서 환원되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카본이 코팅된 담체에 담지된 귀금속-전이금속 복합 촉매의 제조방법.
