Definitions
- the present invention relates to a technique relating to an optical medium for preventing forgery.
- it is a technique suitable for an optical element or an information recording medium having an anti-counterfeit effect.
- the information recording medium includes an optical element and, for example, a printing layer disposed on the back side of the optical element.
- a transparent optical element for example, a hologram
- a transparent optical element is used by being laminated on a base material on which unique information is printed. For this reason, even when the printed layer containing the unique information of the article is confirmed through the optical element, it has transparency that can be easily confirmed, and has a high contrast and high visibility. Optical effect is required.
- Patent Document 1 proposes a special optical element that utilizes transmitted light and reflected light by an inclined reflector.
- a plurality of reflecting plates are inclined at a constant direction and at a constant angle, and light is reflected when observed from a specific direction.
- a light layer passes through the optical element, and a printing layer that describes unique information of an article existing on the back side of the optical element is provided. It can be confirmed.
- the optical element of patent document 1 has a reflection layer, since the contrast of reflection and permeation
- the inclined reflector itself has a characteristic of reflecting as long as it has an incident angle with respect to the reflector. For this reason, in order to make it transparent at an arbitrary observation angle, it is necessary to make the observation angle and the reflector parallel. Moreover, even if the observation angle and the reflecting plate are made parallel, there is a problem that the transparency is impaired depending on the thickness of the reflecting plate and the number of the reflecting plates.
- the decrease in the transparency of the optical element relates to the visibility of the print layer provided under the optical element. For this reason, it is important to be transparent at least in a specific observation angle region. That is, in the ID field, the reflection and transmission patterns differ depending on the observation angle attached to the opaque base material (print layer, pattern layer), and are transmitted at an arbitrary incident angle and reflected at an arbitrary different angle. There is a need for optical elements.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an anti-counterfeiting optical element having both high anti-counterfeiting properties and design properties due to a multiple optical element structure.
- one embodiment of the present invention includes a second layer having a relief structure on a surface, a first layer disposed on a surface side of the second layer, the second layer, and the first layer. And a third layer formed along the surface of the relief structure, The refractive index of the second layer is lower than the refractive index of the first layer, the refractive index of the third layer is higher than the refractive index of the first layer, and at least the first region and the second region in plan view.
- An anti-counterfeit optical element comprising: The relief structure disposed in the second region generates at least one of diffraction, interference, scattering, refraction, and absorption of electromagnetic waves,
- electromagnetic waves incident in a specific angle range set in advance from the first layer side are arranged in the ratio of the refractive index of the second layer to the refractive index of the first layer and in the first region.
- an electromagnetic wave incident from the first layer side is reflected by a difference in refractive index between the first layer and the third layer.
- At least part of visible light (for example, 360 nm to 830 nm) is reflected at the interface between the first layer and the third layer, and at least part of the visible light transmitted through the third layer is the first layer. It is preferable that total reflection is performed at an incident angle larger than the critical angle at the interface between the three layers and the second layer.
- an anti-counterfeit optical element having both high anti-counterfeiting properties and design properties due to a multiple optical element structure.
- the optical element 1 of 1st Embodiment has the 2nd layer 3, the 1st layer 2, and the 3rd layer 6, as shown in FIG. 1 which is sectional drawing.
- the second layer 3 has a relief structure formed on the surface (the upper surface in FIG. 1).
- the first layer 2 is arranged on the surface side of the second layer 3 so as to fill the relief structure of the second layer 3.
- the third layer 6 is interposed between the second layer 3 and the first layer 2, and is formed in a thin film shape along the surface of the relief structure of the second layer 3.
- the relationship between the refractive index of the first layer 2, the refractive index of the second layer 3, and the refractive index of the third layer 6 is such that the refractive index of the second layer 3 is lower than the refractive index of the first layer 2.
- the refractive index of the layer 6 is set to be higher than the refractive index of the first layer 2.
- the first layer 2, the second layer 3, and the third layer 6 reflect at least part of visible light (for example, 360 nm to 830 nm) at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6. It is preferable to configure.
- first layer 2, the second layer 3, and the third layer 6 are such that at least a part of visible light transmitted through the third layer 6 has a critical angle at the interface between the third layer 6 and the second layer 3. It is preferable that the light is totally reflected at a larger incident angle.
- the refractive index of the third layer 6 is preferably higher by 0.2 or more than the refractive index of the first layer 2 so that interface reflection occurs between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6.
- the reflectivity at the time of vertical incidence at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6 is 20% or less is preferable.
- the first optical effect is due to interface reflection that occurs between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6.
- the second optical effect is an optical effect due to total reflection that occurs at the interface between the third layer 6 and the second layer 3 of visible light transmitted through the third layer 6.
- the reflectivity at the time of perpendicular incidence at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 3 is the refractive index (N 1 ) of the third layer 6 that satisfies the following formula (2) and the first layer 2 ( N 2 ) is preferable in combination with the refractive index.
- N 1 refractive index of the third layer 6 that satisfies the following formula (2)
- the first layer 2 ( N 2 ) is preferable in combination with the refractive index.
- the optical element 1 has at least a first region 4 and a second region 5 in a plan view (in FIG. 1, a viewpoint when the optical element 1 is viewed from above).
- the relief structure arranged in the first region 4 and the relief structure arranged in the second region 5 are different structures.
- FIG. 1 illustrates a portion of the first region 4 and a portion of the second region 5.
- the relief structure arranged in the first region 4 in which electromagnetic waves (light, etc.) incident in a specific angle range from the first layer 2 side are totally reflected is, for example, an array of a plurality of inclined surfaces inclined with respect to the optical element plane.
- the optical element plane is a plane of the optical element and is a plane extending in the horizontal direction and the direction perpendicular to the paper surface in FIG.
- the light incident from the first layer 2 side undergoes total reflection when incident at an angle greater than the critical angle with respect to the slope normal, and at an angle less than the critical angle with respect to the slope normal.
- the third layer 6 is a thin film, and is formed by a high refractive film.
- the light reflectivity is set to a low value compared to the reflectivity of total reflection due to the critical angle.
- FIG. 2 is an explanatory diagram of an optical path of light incident from the first layer 2 side on the first region 4 of the optical element 1.
- the light incident from the first layer 2 side is set to reflect about 10% to 50% at the interface of the third layer 6
- the light incident from the first layer 2 side is transmitted through the third layer 6.
- the light is about 50% to 90%.
- the light incident from the first layer 2 side and transmitted through the third layer 6 is totally incident at the interface between the third layer 6 and the second layer 3 at an angle greater than the critical angle with respect to the slope normal.
- the light passes through the interface and enters the second layer 3. More strictly, light scattering and absorption due to the material of each layer, and light scattering and absorption due to the uneven structure included between the layers occur.
- an incident angle range 7 indicates an angle range less than the critical angle calculated from the refractive indexes of the first layer 2 and the second layer 3, and incident light IL ⁇ b> 1 that is light incident in the incident angle range 7.
- the transmitted light TL1 is light that passes through the interfaces of the first layer 2, the third layer 6, and the second layer 3 and is refracted and transmitted by the refractive index difference between the layers.
- the reflected light CL ⁇ b> 1 is light reflected at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6.
- the perpendicular of the slope is represented by the symbol P.
- incident light IL2 which is light incident at an angle other than the incident angle range 7
- incident light IL2 is incident light at an angle greater than the critical angle calculated from the refractive indexes of the first layer 2 and the second layer 3. Therefore, the incident light IL2 is totally reflected at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6 or the interface between the third layer 6 and the second layer 3 to become reflected light CL2.
- total reflection is a phenomenon that occurs only when electromagnetic waves travel from a medium with a high refractive index to a medium with a low refractive index. Therefore, the phenomenon of total reflection does not occur with light incident from the second layer 3 side. For this reason, even if the ratio of the refractive index of the first layer 2 to the second layer 3 is 1.33, the incident light from any angle region is almost transmitted. In this case, since the third layer 6 is a thin film, there is no problem to ignore it.
- the optical element is in a specific angle range (a range less than the critical angle). Since 1 becomes transparent, the printed material under the optical element 1 can be confirmed. However, in an angle range other than a specific angle range (an angle range equal to or greater than the critical angle), the optical element 1 is opaque, and thus it is impossible to confirm the printed material under the optical element 1.
- the optical element 1 when the optical element 1 is placed on the printed matter with the second layer 3 on the viewer side, the optical element 1 is transparent in any angular range. It can also be confirmed at an angle.
- the optical element 1 of the first embodiment uses the characteristic of total reflection by the critical angle in the first region 4 as in the previous optical element. That is, the transparency of the optical element 1 can be changed depending on the observation angle in the observation from a specific direction due to the characteristic of total reflection by the critical angle. Moreover, it is possible to obtain different optical effects on the front and back sides depending on the characteristic of total reflection by the critical angle.
- the relief structure arranged in the second region 5 generates at least one of electromagnetic wave diffraction, interference, scattering, refraction, and absorption.
- the second layer 3, the first layer 2, and the second layer 3 are reflected so that electromagnetic waves incident from the first layer 2 side are reflected by a difference in refractive index between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6.
- a third layer 6 is configured.
- the relief structure that generates at least one of diffraction, interference, scattering, refraction, and absorption of electromagnetic waves, that is, the relief structure disposed in the second region 5 includes, for example, irregularities formed by a cross-sectional rectangular shape or a cross-sectional waveform shape, etc. It is possible to exemplify a structure having a repetition of
- FIG. 3 is an explanatory diagram of an optical path of light (incident light IL3) incident on the second region 5 of the optical element 1 from the first layer 2 side.
- the diffracted light is represented by DL.
- the relief structure arranged in the second region 5 includes a diffraction structure with periodic unevenness, an interference structure composed of a rectangular structure with a fixed depth, a scattering structure with at least one of the period and depth being random, and a moth-eye shape. It has an absorption structure and the like.
- the moth-eye shape is a shape in which cone-shaped projections are arranged.
- the incident light IL ⁇ b> 3 is reflected at the interface between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6 due to the refractive index difference between the first layer 2 and the third layer 6.
- the optical effect according to the relief structure is obtained.
- a pattern can be displayed by these combinations.
- a character, a symbol, a signature, a geometric pattern, a fine pattern, an image, and a photograph are mentioned, for example.
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the critical angle ⁇ C.
- the critical angle ⁇ C can be expressed by the following equation (4). ⁇ c ⁇ arcsin (n t / n i) ⁇ (4) formula
- ⁇ C in FIG. 3 is a critical angle
- Incident light IL5 that is incident at an angle greater than the critical angle ⁇ C is totally reflected to become reflected light CL5.
- light incident at an angle smaller than the critical angle ⁇ C is refracted at a refraction angle according to Snell's law and passes through the interface between the two media. In practice, the intensity of the reflected wave gradually changes depending on the incident angle.
- the totally reflected light is further reflected, transmitted, and refracted by the relief structure and the surface of the layer, and the light gradually becomes weak.
- the meaning means at least one of total reflection at the relief interface RIF and light being weakened by subsequent reflection, transmission, refraction, and scattering.
- Multiple reflections, transmissions, and refractions can also be regarded as light scattering in a plurality of directions, so that a relief structure may be designed for multiple reflections, transmissions, and refractions.
- the first region 4 may be an opaque region that prevents transmission of electromagnetic waves incident from a specific incident angle using an optical effect other than total reflection. In this case, a known structure that causes phenomena such as scattering, regular reflection, diffraction, retroreflection, multiple reflection, and refraction may be used.
- Such a structure may be a prism structure (saw blade cross-sectional structure) shown in FIG.
- a structure that changes in transparency can be used even if the structure does not cause total reflection related to the critical angle.
- the first region 4 has a plurality of prism structures, it is possible to use a structure in which the inclination angle and the azimuth angle of the inclined surface change continuously. Note that the plurality of prism structures may be divided into minute regions. In this case, it is possible to obtain a high-resolution and realistic parallax stereoscopic image by dividing a fine region of about 1 mm 2 to 0.04 ⁇ m 2 .
- the relief structure of the first region 4 may include a plane arranged in a direction perpendicular to the medium plane.
- the relief structure has a vertical surface.
- the vertical surface of the relief structure causes phenomena such as total reflection, scattering, regular reflection, diffraction, multiple reflection, refraction, and retroreflection.
- the transparency when the first region 4 is observed from a specific angle may be improved.
- the effect of these vertical surfaces may be used to improve the opacity when the first region 4 is observed from a specific angle.
- the first region 4 may be configured such that the angle of the slope and the azimuth angle continuously change. Furthermore, the first region 4 may have a plurality of sub-regions, and may have a configuration in which the angle of the slope and the azimuth angle of the inclined surface are different.
- n t ⁇ ni is a necessary condition for total reflection occurring at an incident angle greater than the critical angle. That is, at the interface between two media having different refractive indexes, light incident from the higher refractive index side is totally reflected when incident at a critical angle or more. In addition, light incident from the low refractive index side does not have total reflection due to the critical angle.
- the inventor of the present invention previously proposed the above optical element as an anti-counterfeit optical element capable of dealing with both fields of banknotes and IDs.
- the previous optical element has a structure in which the first layer 2 is arranged on the second layer 3 having a relief structure having a structure of slopes without providing the thin film-like third layer 6.
- the above optical element has a structure in which the first region 4 is totally reflected and the second region 5 is transmitted or refracted at a specific incident angle. This is an optical element used.
- the previous optical elements are optical elements required in the banknote field (optical elements attached to a transparent substrate) and optical elements required in the ID field (optical elements attached to an opaque substrate or a print layer or a picture layer) ), A novel optical element with high versatility that can be applied to both. More specifically, the preceding optical element is an optical element that, when attached to a transparent substrate, for example, looks differently on the front and back sides, and the effect of back side observation is not known in front side observation. In addition to this, when the optical element is attached to an opaque base material (print layer, pattern layer), the reflection and transmission patterns differ depending on the observation angle, and at an arbitrary incident angle, A transparent optical element that transmits and reflects at any different angle.
- the previous optical element may lack the affinity (degree of freedom of combination) with other optical element structures.
- a diffractive structure, an interference structure, a scattering structure, and the like function as an optical element by depositing a transparent high refractive film as a reflective layer on a relief structure having a desired optical effect.
- these relief structures require a highly refractive vapor deposition film, it may be difficult to combine them with the total reflection structure of the previous optical element in the same plane.
- the optical element 1 includes at least a security optical structure using total reflection at a critical angle, and has an affinity with a diffraction structure, an interference structure, a scattering structure, a refraction structure, a reflection plane structure, and the like. High and has a highly refractive film at the relief interface. For this reason, it becomes possible to provide the optical element for anti-counterfeit which has the high anti-counterfeiting property and design nature by multiple optical element structure.
- the structure of the optical element 40 according to the second embodiment is shown in FIG.
- the optical element 40 of the second embodiment has the same structure as the optical element 1 of the first embodiment, except that the background layer 41 is in contact with the back surface of the second layer 3 (the lower surface in FIG. 5). It has become.

- the electromagnetic wave absorbing layer 52 is required.
- the electromagnetic wave absorbing layer 52 may use a color material such as a pigment or a dye, and typically, carbon that is a black pigment may be used. Abstract
Description
θc ≧ arcsin(nt/ni) ・・・(4)式
θ + θ5 ≧ arcsin(N2/N1) >θ - θ5
2×θ5 ≧ arcsin(N2/N1)
θ + θ5 ≧ arcsin(N2/N1) > θ5 - θ
θ5 = arcsin〔sin(θ8/2)/N1〕
= arcsin〔sin(θ4)/N1〕
θf1 ≧ arcsin(N2/N1) ・・・(1)式
<実施例1>
