Description
本発明は、ドライ性能と雪上性能を両立した空気入りタイヤに関するものである。
雪上路面でのタイヤの加速性能および制動性能を確保するために、トレッドパターンをラグ溝主体のブロック系パターンとし、各ブロックにタイヤ幅方向に複数のジグザグ状のサイプを形成することが有効であることが知られている(例えば、特開2000-229505号公報)。また、各ブロックおよびサイプを、タイヤ幅方向に対して傾斜させて形成することにより、幅方向エッジ密度を増加し、操縦安定性を確保することが行われている。
しかしながら、上述した従来のタイヤにおいては、タイヤ赤道面を含む中央陸部は、タイヤ周方向に連続したリブ状ではあるものの、タイヤ周方向に対して傾斜する横溝がタイヤ赤道面付近まで中央陸部を切り込むように形成されているため、中央陸部の周方向剛性に改善の余地があった。
また、中央陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部に形成されたサイプは、中間陸部のブロックの傾斜方向と略平行であり、すなわち、タイヤ幅方向に対して傾斜しているため、中間陸部の幅方向剛性に改善の余地があった。
このように、中央陸部および中間陸部の剛性が十分でないと、操縦安定性能が十分に確保されないおそれがあった。
そこで、本発明の目的は、陸部剛性を向上するとともに幅方向エッジ密度を確保することにより、ドライ路面および雪上路面での操縦安定性に優れる空気入りタイヤを提供することにある。
また、中央陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部に形成されたサイプは、中間陸部のブロックの傾斜方向と略平行であり、すなわち、タイヤ幅方向に対して傾斜しているため、中間陸部の幅方向剛性に改善の余地があった。
このように、中央陸部および中間陸部の剛性が十分でないと、操縦安定性能が十分に確保されないおそれがあった。
そこで、本発明の目的は、陸部剛性を向上するとともに幅方向エッジ密度を確保することにより、ドライ路面および雪上路面での操縦安定性に優れる空気入りタイヤを提供することにある。
本発明の要旨は、以下のとおりである。
(1)タイヤ赤道面を含む中央陸部と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の中央周方向溝を挟んで前記中央陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の外側周方向溝を挟んで前記中間陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の外側陸部と、を具える空気入りタイヤにおいて、

図1(a)に示すように、本発明の第1実施例に係る空気入りタイヤのトレッドパターンは、タイヤ赤道面CLを含む中央陸部1と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の中央周方向溝2を挟んで中央陸部1のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部3と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の外側周方向溝4を挟んで中間陸部3のタイヤ幅方向両外側の外側陸部5と、を具える。
中央陸部1は、1対の中央周方向溝2によってリブ状に区画形成されている。このリブ状の中央陸部1には、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる複数の中央サイプ11が形成されている。
中間陸部3は、中央周方向溝2および外側周方向溝4を連通し、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる複数の中間傾斜溝6によってブロック3bに区画形成されている。このブロック3bには、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる複数の中間サイプ13が形成されている。
外側陸部5は、外側周方向溝4およびトレッド端TEを連通し、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる複数の外側傾斜溝7によってブロック5bに区画形成されている。このブロック5bには、外側傾斜溝7に沿って延びる複数の外側サイプ15が形成されている。
図1(a)に示すように、本発明の第1実施例に係る空気入りタイヤのトレッドパターンは、タイヤ赤道面CLを含む中央陸部1と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の中央周方向溝2を挟んで中央陸部1のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部3と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の外側周方向溝4を挟んで中間陸部3のタイヤ幅方向両外側の外側陸部5と、を具える。
中央陸部1は、1対の中央周方向溝2によってリブ状に区画形成されている。このリブ状の中央陸部1には、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる複数の中央サイプ11が形成されている。
中間陸部3は、中央周方向溝2および外側周方向溝4を連通し、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる複数の中間傾斜溝6によってブロック3bに区画形成されている。このブロック3bには、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる複数の中間サイプ13が形成されている。
外側陸部5は、外側周方向溝4およびトレッド端TEを連通し、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる複数の外側傾斜溝7によってブロック5bに区画形成されている。このブロック5bには、外側傾斜溝7に沿って延びる複数の外側サイプ15が形成されている。
図1(b)に、中間陸部3のブロック3bの拡大図を示すように、ブロック3bは縦長の形状を有している。すなわち、ブロック3bのタイヤ周方向の長さH3b(ブロック3bの頂点をそれぞれA、B、C、D、Eとすると、タイヤ周方向に最も離れた頂点Aと頂点Cからタイヤ幅方向に平行に引いた線分間の距離)は、ブロック3bのタイヤ幅方向の長さW3b(タイヤ幅方向に最も離れた頂点Aと頂点D、Eからタイヤ周方向に平行に引いた線分間の距離)より長い。
図1(c)に、外側陸部5のブロック5bの拡大図を示すように、ブロック5bは横長の形状を有している。すなわち、ブロック5bのタイヤ周方向の長さH5b(ブロック5bの頂点をそれぞれA、B、C、D、Eとすると、タイヤ周方向に最も離れた頂点Aと頂点Cからタイヤ幅方向に平行に引いた線分間の距離)は、ブロック5bのタイヤ幅方向の長さW5b(タイヤ幅方向最内側の頂点Dからトレッド端TEまでの距離)より短い。
図1(c)に、外側陸部5のブロック5bの拡大図を示すように、ブロック5bは横長の形状を有している。すなわち、ブロック5bのタイヤ周方向の長さH5b(ブロック5bの頂点をそれぞれA、B、C、D、Eとすると、タイヤ周方向に最も離れた頂点Aと頂点Cからタイヤ幅方向に平行に引いた線分間の距離)は、ブロック5bのタイヤ幅方向の長さW5b(タイヤ幅方向最内側の頂点Dからトレッド端TEまでの距離)より短い。
図2は、本発明の第2実施例に係る空気入りタイヤのトレッドパターンを示す図である。第2実施例において、第1実施例と同一の構成要素には同一の参照符号を付してその説明を省略する。
中央周方向溝2は、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に延び、中央陸部1の溝壁も、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に形成されている。
中間陸部3は、中間傾斜溝6を連通し、中間傾斜溝6のタイヤ周方向に対する傾斜方向と反対方向に傾斜する中間傾斜細溝8によって、ブロック3b1、3b2に区画形成されている。ブロック3b1、3b2に形成されているサイプ13は、タイヤ幅方向に対して傾斜しており、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が、0°~30°であることが肝要である。
中央周方向溝2は、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に延び、中央陸部1の溝壁も、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に形成されている。
中間陸部3は、中間傾斜溝6を連通し、中間傾斜溝6のタイヤ周方向に対する傾斜方向と反対方向に傾斜する中間傾斜細溝8によって、ブロック3b1、3b2に区画形成されている。ブロック3b1、3b2に形成されているサイプ13は、タイヤ幅方向に対して傾斜しており、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が、0°~30°であることが肝要である。
以下、本発明の作用効果を説明する。
陸部全体にサイプを形成することによって、雪上性能および氷上性能を向上することができる。すなわち、サイプは、雪上面ではエッジ効果を発揮し、氷上面ではエッジ効果および水膜除去効果を発揮する。
中央陸部1をリブ状に構成することによって、ブロック状に構成した場合に比べて、周方向剛性を高めることができる。
中間陸部3のブロック3bを縦長に構成することによって、横長に構成した場合に比べて、周方向剛性を高めることができる。
このようにして、中央陸部1および中間陸部3の周方向剛性を高めることはできるが、幅方向剛性は低い。そこで、中央陸部1の中央サイプ11を、タイヤ幅方向に沿って直線状に延在させるとともに、中間陸部3の中間サイプ13を、タイヤ幅方向に対して0°~30°という比較的小さい角度で傾斜させて延在させることによって、当該陸部の幅方向剛性の低下を最小限に抑制するので、操縦安定性を損なうことがない。
また、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる中央サイプ11および、タイヤ幅方向に対して小さい角度で傾斜して延びる中間サイプ13は、タイヤ周方向に対するエッジ成分を高めることとなるので、雪上制動性能および雪上加速性能を確保することができる。
陸部全体にサイプを形成することによって、雪上性能および氷上性能を向上することができる。すなわち、サイプは、雪上面ではエッジ効果を発揮し、氷上面ではエッジ効果および水膜除去効果を発揮する。
中央陸部1をリブ状に構成することによって、ブロック状に構成した場合に比べて、周方向剛性を高めることができる。
中間陸部3のブロック3bを縦長に構成することによって、横長に構成した場合に比べて、周方向剛性を高めることができる。
このようにして、中央陸部1および中間陸部3の周方向剛性を高めることはできるが、幅方向剛性は低い。そこで、中央陸部1の中央サイプ11を、タイヤ幅方向に沿って直線状に延在させるとともに、中間陸部3の中間サイプ13を、タイヤ幅方向に対して0°~30°という比較的小さい角度で傾斜させて延在させることによって、当該陸部の幅方向剛性の低下を最小限に抑制するので、操縦安定性を損なうことがない。
また、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる中央サイプ11および、タイヤ幅方向に対して小さい角度で傾斜して延びる中間サイプ13は、タイヤ周方向に対するエッジ成分を高めることとなるので、雪上制動性能および雪上加速性能を確保することができる。
外側陸部5のブロック5bを横長に構成することによって、縦長に構成した場合に比べて、幅方向剛性を高めることができる。このようにして、外側陸部5のブロック5bの幅方向剛性を高めているため、外側陸部5の外側サイプ15を、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる外側傾斜溝7に沿って、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延在させても、必要な幅方向剛性を維持することができる。
また、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる外側サイプ15は、タイヤ幅方向のサイプエッジ密度を増加するので、操縦安定性を確保することができる。
まとめると、中央陸部1および中間陸部3によって周方向剛性およびエッジ効果を高め、外側陸部5によって幅方向剛性およびエッジ密度を確保し、その結果、ドライ性能と雪上性能の両立が可能となる。
また、タイヤ周方向に傾斜して延びる外側サイプ15は、タイヤ幅方向のサイプエッジ密度を増加するので、操縦安定性を確保することができる。
まとめると、中央陸部1および中間陸部3によって周方向剛性およびエッジ効果を高め、外側陸部5によって幅方向剛性およびエッジ密度を確保し、その結果、ドライ性能と雪上性能の両立が可能となる。
図2において、中央陸部1の溝壁を、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に形成することにより、図1の構成と比較して、周方向のエッジ成分を高めるとともに、雪柱せん断力を向上することができるので、雪上制動性能および雪上加速性能を向上することができる。略同等の溝幅を有する中央周方向溝2と中間傾斜溝6とを連結させることにより、雪上制駆動性能が向上するためである。
また、中間傾斜細溝8を形成することにより、図1の構成と比較して、排水性能を高めることができる。また、雪上操縦安定性を向上させるために、中間傾斜細溝8の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ8が15°~85°であることが好適である。

雪上操縦安定性を確保するために、中間傾斜溝6の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ6が5°~85°であることが好適である。
傾斜角度θ6が5°未満あるいは85°超の場合、中間陸部3のブロック3bによるエッジ効果が発揮されないおそれがある。加えて、傾斜角度θ6が5°未満の場合、タイヤ騒音の悪化および氷上性能の悪化が懸念される。一方、傾斜角度θ6が85°超の場合、ブロック3bの偏摩耗が発生するおそれがある。
傾斜角度θ6が5°未満あるいは85°超の場合、中間陸部3のブロック3bによるエッジ効果が発揮されないおそれがある。加えて、傾斜角度θ6が5°未満の場合、タイヤ騒音の悪化および氷上性能の悪化が懸念される。一方、傾斜角度θ6が85°超の場合、ブロック3bの偏摩耗が発生するおそれがある。
雪上操縦安定性を確保するために、外側傾斜溝7の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ7が5°~45°であることが好適である。
傾斜角度θ7が5°未満の場合、外側陸部5のブロック5bによるエッジ効果が発揮されないおそれがあるとともに、タイヤ騒音の悪化および氷上性能の悪化が懸念される。一方、傾斜角度θ7が45°超の場合、ブロック5bの偏摩耗が発生するおそれがある。
傾斜角度θ7が5°未満の場合、外側陸部5のブロック5bによるエッジ効果が発揮されないおそれがあるとともに、タイヤ騒音の悪化および氷上性能の悪化が懸念される。一方、傾斜角度θ7が45°超の場合、ブロック5bの偏摩耗が発生するおそれがある。
なお、図1(a)および図2では、中央サイプ11はタイヤ幅方向に対して0°の傾斜角度で延在しているが、タイヤ幅方向に対して±1°以内の範囲で傾斜する場合も本発明に含まれるものとする。
同様に、外側サイプ15は外側傾斜溝7に平行に延在しているが、外側傾斜溝7に対して±1°以内の範囲で傾斜する場合も本発明に含まれるものとする。
同様に、外側サイプ15は外側傾斜溝7に平行に延在しているが、外側傾斜溝7に対して±1°以内の範囲で傾斜する場合も本発明に含まれるものとする。
以下、本発明の実施例について説明するが、本発明はこれだけに限定されるものではない。
発明例タイヤおよび比較例タイヤ(タイヤサイズ:195/65R15)を試作し、表1に示す条件にて横方向ブロック剛性、加速性能および操縦安定性能を評価したので以下に説明する。
発明例タイヤ1は、表2に示す仕様および図2に示すトレッドパターンを有している。中間傾斜溝6は、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ6が20°~50°で変化しており、外側傾斜溝7は、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ7が5°~25°で変化している。外側サイプ15は外側傾斜溝7に沿って延在している。
発明例タイヤ2は、図1(a)に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中央周方向溝2が直線状である点、および、中間傾斜細溝8が形成されていない点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ3は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間サイプ13の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が0°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ4は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間サイプ13の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が30°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ5は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間傾斜細溝8の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ8が90°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ6は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間傾斜溝6の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ6が0°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ7は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、外側傾斜溝7の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ7が0°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
比較例タイヤは、中間サイプ13の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が-16°である点以外、発明例タイヤ1と同様である。すなわち、中間サイプ13は中間傾斜溝6と同じ方向に傾斜している。
発明例タイヤおよび比較例タイヤ(タイヤサイズ:195/65R15)を試作し、表1に示す条件にて横方向ブロック剛性、加速性能および操縦安定性能を評価したので以下に説明する。

発明例タイヤ4は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間サイプ13の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が30°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ5は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間傾斜細溝8の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ8が90°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ6は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、中間傾斜溝6の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ6が0°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
発明例タイヤ7は、図2に示すトレッドパターンを有しており、外側傾斜溝7の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ7が0°である点以外は発明例タイヤ1と同様である。
比較例タイヤは、中間サイプ13の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度θ13が-16°である点以外、発明例タイヤ1と同様である。すなわち、中間サイプ13は中間傾斜溝6と同じ方向に傾斜している。
(横方向ブロック剛性)
各試作タイヤからブロック単体を切り出し、ブロック面積にかかるタイヤ圧力と等価の荷重をかけ、ブロック又は接地面を1mm移動させた際の横方向に生じる力を計測した。結果は、発明例タイヤ1の横方向ブロック剛性を100として指数表示した。なお、指数が大きいほど、横方向ブロック剛性が高いことを示す。

各試作タイヤを車両に装着し、雪路面のテストコースにおいて、発進後、速度10km/hから35km/hとなるまでの加速時間を測定した。結果は、発明例タイヤ1の加速時間を100として指数表示した。なお、指数が大きいほど、加速性能に優れていることを示す。

各供試タイヤを実車に装着し、雪路面およびドライ路面のテストコースを一定速度(80km/h)で走行し、プロドライバーのフィーリングによって操縦安定性能を評価した。結果は10点満点の評点で示した。数値が大きいほど、操縦安定性能に優れていることを示す。

- タイヤ赤道面を含む中央陸部と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の中央周方向溝を挟んで前記中央陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の中間陸部と、タイヤ周方向に連続して延びる1対の外側周方向溝を挟んで前記中間陸部のタイヤ幅方向両外側の外側陸部と、を具える空気入りタイヤにおいて、
前記中央陸部は、前記1対の中央周方向溝によってリブ状に区画形成され、前記中央陸部には、タイヤ幅方向に直線状に延びる複数の中央サイプが形成され、

ことを特徴とする空気入りタイヤ。 - 前記中央周方向溝は、タイヤ周方向にジグザグ状に延びることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記中間傾斜溝の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度が5°~85°であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記外側傾斜溝の、タイヤ幅方向に対する傾斜角度が5°~45°であることを特徴とする請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記中間陸部のブロックのタイヤ周方向の長さは、タイヤ幅方向の長さより長く、
前記外側陸部のブロックのタイヤ周方向の長さは、タイヤ幅方向の長さより短い、
ことを特徴とする請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の空気入りタイヤ。
