Definitions
- the present invention relates to an Nd-based sintered magnet having an increased coercive force while suppressing a reduction in residual magnetic flux density of the sintered magnet body, and a method for manufacturing the same.
- the present invention relates to an Nd-based sintered magnet used in a permanent magnet rotating machine optimum for a motor and the like, and a manufacturing method thereof.
- Nd-based sintered magnets are increasingly used for their excellent magnetic properties.
- permanent magnet rotating machines using Nd-based sintered magnets have been developed as the devices become lighter, shorter, more powerful, and save energy.
- Nd-based sintered magnets that have a coercive force that is an index of heat resistance and demagnetization resistance at a certain level and that has as high a residual magnetic flux density as possible that is an index of the magnitude of the magnetic force.
- the increase in the residual magnetic flux density of the Nd-based sintered magnet has been achieved by increasing the volume fraction of Nd 2 Fe 14 B compound and improving the degree of crystal orientation, and various processes have been improved so far.
- the increase in coercive force among the various approaches such as refinement of crystal grains, use of a composition alloy with an increased Nd amount, or addition of an effective element, the most common method at present is A composition alloy in which a part of Nd is substituted with Dy or Tb is used.
- Nd of the Nd 2 Fe 14 B compound By substituting Nd of the Nd 2 Fe 14 B compound with these elements, the anisotropic magnetic field of the compound increases and the coercive force also increases.
- substitution with Dy or Tb reduces the saturation magnetic polarization of the compound. Therefore, as long as the coercive force is increased by the above method, a decrease in residual magnetic flux density is inevitable.
- the coercive force is the magnitude of the external magnetic field generated by the reverse magnetic domain nucleus at the crystal grain interface.
- the structure of the crystal grain interface strongly influences the nucleation of the reverse magnetic domain, and the disorder of the crystal structure in the vicinity of the interface causes the disorder of the magnetic structure and promotes the generation of the reverse magnetic domain.
- a magnetic structure from the crystal interface to a depth of about 5 nm contributes to an increase in coercive force
- the present inventors concentrated a small amount of Dy and Tb only in the vicinity of the interface of the crystal grains and increased the anisotropy magnetic field only in the vicinity of the interface, thereby increasing the coercive force while suppressing the decrease in the residual magnetic flux density.
- Patent Document 1 Japanese Patent Publication No. 5-31807.
- Patent Document 2 JP-A-5-21218.
- an alloy rich in Dy or Tb becomes a liquid phase during sintering and is distributed so as to surround the Nd 2 Fe 14 B compound.
- Nd and Dy or Tb are replaced only near the grain boundary of the compound, and the coercive force can be effectively increased while suppressing a decrease in the residual magnetic flux density.
- Dy or Tb is not only the interface of Nd 2 Fe 14 B crystal grains but also the inside. Easy to diffuse. According to the observation of the structure of the magnet actually obtained, it is diffused from the interface to a depth of about 1 to 2 ⁇ m at the grain boundary surface layer portion, and the diffused area is 60% or more when converted into a volume fraction. Further, the longer the diffusion distance into the crystal grain, the lower the concentration of Dy or Tb in the vicinity of the interface.

- Non-Patent Document 3 Kenichi Machida, Naoshi Kawamata, Toshiharu Suzuki, Masahiro Ito, Takashi Horikawa, “Grain boundary modification and magnetic properties of Nd—Fe—B based sintered magnet” , Summary of Powder and Powder Metallurgy Association, 2004 Spring Meeting, p. 202).
- Dy and Tb can be concentrated more efficiently at the grain boundary, the coercive force can be increased with little decrease in the residual magnetic flux density.
- the amount of Dy and Tb supplied increases as the specific surface area of the magnet increases, that is, the magnet body decreases, this method can be applied only to a small or thin magnet.
- the productivity is poor when depositing a metal film by sputtering or the like.
- Patent Document 3 WO2006 / 043348A1 is disclosed as a means for solving these problems and being capable of mass production and efficiently improving the coercive force.
- This is selected from an R 2 oxide, an R 3 fluoride, and an R 4 oxyfluoride for an R 1 —Fe—B based sintered magnet represented by an Nd—Fe—B based sintered magnet.
- R 1 to R 4 are one or more selected from rare earth elements including Y and Sc
- R 2 , R 3 or R 4 contained in the powder is absorbed by the magnet body, and the coercive force is increased while significantly suppressing the decrease in residual magnetic flux density.
- the magnet body to be treated is ground to a predetermined shape from the sintered magnet block in order to perform the absorption treatment from the magnet surface, and its size is not particularly limited.
- the size of the maximum part of the above shape is 100 mm or less, preferably 50 mm or less, particularly preferably 20 mm or less, and magnetic anisotropy. It is preferable that the dimension in the direction in which the carbonization is performed is 10 mm or less, preferably 5 mm or less, and particularly preferably 2 mm or less. More preferably, the dimension in the magnetically anisotropic direction is 1 mm or less.
- the portion that is easily demagnetized is a part of the magnet, and it is not always necessary to have a portion having a high coercive force in a wide region of the magnet body. If the final shape is reduced, fine magnets are handled, which makes it difficult to handle and the process capability cannot be increased.
- a radial air gap type permanent magnet rotating machine as shown in FIG. 4 is used for the AC servo motor.
- This permanent magnet rotating machine includes a rotor 3 having a magnet 2 attached to the surface of a rotor core 1, a stator core 11 having a plurality of slots arranged via a gap, and a coil 12 wound around teeth. 13.
- the number of poles of the permanent magnet is 6, the number of teeth is 9, and the arrow in the permanent magnet indicates the direction of magnetization of the permanent magnet.
- Permanent magnets are oriented in a parallel magnetic field, and the easy magnetization direction is parallel to the center line of the magnet.
- the coil is wound around the teeth with concentrated winding, and a U-phase V-phase W-phase three-phase Y-connection is made.
- the black circle mark of the coil means that the coil winding direction is in front, and the x mark means that the coil winding direction is in the back.
- the torque of AC servo motors that require high-accuracy torque control must have small pulsation. Therefore, when the permanent magnet rotates, the cogging torque (torque when no current is passed through the coil) or the coil current caused by the change in the magnetic flux distribution in the air gap due to the positional relationship between the stator slot and the permanent magnet. It is not preferable that torque ripple occurs when driven with a flow of current. Torque ripple causes noise as well as poor controllability.
- the end shape of the permanent magnet as shown in FIG. 4 is made thinner than the central portion. According to this method, the magnetic flux distribution at the end of the permanent magnet, which is the switching portion of the magnetic pole where the change of the magnetic flux distribution is large, becomes smooth, and the cogging torque can be reduced.

- a D-type or C-type magnet has a thin magnet end portion in the vicinity of the surface parallel to the magnetization direction and a large demagnetizing field, which makes it easy to demagnetize. - Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Example 1 ⁇ Magnetic Characteristics of Examples and Comparative Examples> Nd, Co, Al, Fe metal having a purity of 99% by mass or more and ferroboron are weighed in predetermined amounts and melted at high frequency in an Ar atmosphere, and this molten alloy is poured into a single copper roll in an Ar atmosphere by a so-called strip casting method. A thin plate-like alloy was used. The composition of the obtained alloy is 13.5 atomic% Nd, 1.0 atomic% Co, 0.5 atomic% Al, 5.8 atomic% B, and the balance Fe. Called. The alloy A was occluded with hydrogen and then heated to 500 ° C.
- Alloy B was coarsely pulverized to 30 mesh or less using a brown mill in a nitrogen atmosphere.
- the permanent magnet block was ground to a rectangular parallelepiped magnet as shown in FIG. 3 with a diamond grindstone.
- the ground magnet body was washed with an alkaline solution, and then washed with an acid and dried. A cleaning process with pure water is included before and after each cleaning.
- dysprosium fluoride having an average powder particle size (measured by Microtrac) of 5 ⁇ m is mixed with ethanol at a mass fraction of 50%, and two surfaces in the magnetization direction are covered with tape while applying ultrasonic waves thereto.
- the magnet body was immersed for 1 minute.
- the magnet pulled up was immediately dried with hot air. Thereafter, the tape covering the two sides was removed.
- the occupation ratio of the magnet surface space by dysprosium fluoride at this time was 45%.
- terbium fluoride with an average powder particle size of 5 ⁇ m is mixed with ethanol at a mass fraction of 50%, and two surfaces in the magnetization direction are applied while applying ultrasonic waves to this.
- the magnet body covered with tape was immersed for 1 minute.
- the magnet pulled up was immediately dried with hot air. Thereafter, the tape covering the two sides was removed.
- the occupation ratio of the magnet surface space by terbium fluoride was 45%.
- the magnetic properties of these magnets are shown in Table 1.
- a magnetic property sample was cut out into a cube having a side of 1 mm, and the magnetic property (by VSM) of each part of the magnet was evaluated.
- the coercive force of the permanent magnet according to the present invention was increased by 500 kAm ⁇ 1 in the vicinity of the surface. Since there was a distance of 8 mm from the surface inside the magnet, dysprosium was not absorbed and the coercive force did not change. When the distribution of coercive force was examined in detail, an increase in coercive force was recognized from the surface to 6 mm.
- a coercive force increase of 800 kAm ⁇ 1 was recognized with respect to the coercive force of the magnet P1 not subjected to the terbium absorption treatment.
- the decrease in the residual magnetic flux density of the permanent magnet of the present invention was a slight 5 mT.
- a permanent magnet was prepared using a composition alloy in which a part of Nd of alloy A was replaced with Dy, and the coercive force was increased by 500 kAm ⁇ 1 . As a result, the residual magnetic flux density was reduced by 50 mT.
- Dy and F were observed in the magnet from the backscattered electron image and EPMA of the magnet body M1. Since the magnet before processing does not contain Dy and F, the presence of Dy and F in the magnetic body M1 is due to the absorption processing of the present invention. The absorbed Dy is concentrated only in the vicinity of the crystal grain boundary. On the other hand, fluorine (F) is also present in the grain boundary part, and forms an oxyfluoride by being combined with an oxide that is an inevitable impurity contained in the magnet before the treatment. This Dy distribution makes it possible to increase the coercive force while minimizing the decrease in residual magnetic flux density.
- the feature of the present invention is that the absorption capacity can be improved with a large block before being processed into a final shape, so that the processing capability of this process is improved.
- 25 magnets are obtained by cutting a block having a magnetization direction of 109 mm.
- the number of magnet bodies to be applied is compared, there is a difference of 25 times, and that amount appears as a difference in application time.
- magnetization A C-type magnet having a thickness T in the direction of 3.5 mm was produced in the same manner.
- the magnetic characteristics were the same as those shown in Table 1 except that the shapes were different.
- the permanent magnet motor is a surface magnet type motor shown in FIG.
- the rotor has a hexapole structure in which a permanent magnet is attached to the surface of a laminate of 0.5 mm electromagnetic steel plates.
- the outer diameter of the rotor is 45 mm and the length is 50 mm.
- the stator has a 9-slot structure in which 0.5 mm electromagnetic steel sheets are laminated. Each coil is wound with 15 turns of concentrated winding, and the coil has a U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase three-phase Y connection.
- the gap between the rotor and the stator is 1 mm.
- the black circle mark of the coil shown in FIG. 4 means that the coil winding direction is in front, and the x mark means that the coil winding direction is in the back.
- the difference in driving torque before and after the motor was exposed to a temperature of 120 ° C. for 2 hours was measured.
- the driving torque when rotating at room temperature with a three-phase current having an effective value of 50 A per coil was measured, and then the motor was placed in an oven (120 ° C.) and rotated at a current of 50 A. When this was taken out of the oven and returned to room temperature and rotated at 50 A, the driving torque was measured.
- Torque reduction rate due to demagnetization (drive torque at room temperature after being put in oven ⁇ drive torque at room temperature before being put in oven) / (drive torque at room temperature before being put in oven).
- Table 2 shows the values of the drive torque reduction rate due to demagnetization.
- the motor using the magnet having a small coercive force of Comparative Example 1 showed demagnetization. It was found that it cannot be used in an environment of 120 ° C. On the other hand, no demagnetization was observed at 120 ° C. in the motors using the magnets whose coercive force was increased by the processing of the present invention in Examples 1 and 2.
- the coercive force at the center of the magnet was the same in both the comparative example and the example, but the part that was easily demagnetized by the permanent magnet motor was the magnet end. Because it can be increased, the motor is difficult to demagnetize.
- the motor characteristics when the magnets M1 and M2 of the present invention and the magnet P1 of the comparative example are incorporated in a permanent magnet motor will be described.
- the permanent magnet motor is shown in FIG. 6, and the stator is the same as the motor using the D-type magnet shown in FIG.
- the rotor has a 6-pole structure in which a C-type permanent magnet is attached to the surface of a laminate of 0.5 mm electromagnetic steel plates.
- the outer diameter of the rotor is 45 mm and the length is 50 mm.
- the demagnetization characteristics at 120 ° C. were evaluated in the same manner as the motor using the D-type magnet. The results are shown in Table 3.
- the motor using the magnet having a small coercive force of Comparative Example 1 showed demagnetization. It was found that it cannot be used in an environment of 120 ° C. The reason why there is less demagnetization than a motor using a D-type magnet is that the C-type magnet is thicker at the end of the magnet.
- no demagnetization was observed at 120 ° C. in the motors using the magnets whose coercive force was increased by the processing of the present invention in Examples 1 and 2.
- the coercive force at the center of the magnet was the same in both the comparative example and the example, but the part that was easily demagnetized by the permanent magnet motor was the magnet end. Because it can be increased, the motor is difficult to demagnetize.
- the embodiment is a permanent magnet motor, but the permanent magnet generator has the same structure, the magnet of the present invention can be applied, and the effects of the present invention are the same.

Abstract
