Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electricity storage device having a large electric capacity.
- a variety of configurations have been proposed for power storage devices that mainly include a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte, and they have been put into practical use as power sources for mobile devices, regenerative power storage systems, and backup power sources for personal computers. ing.
- an electricity storage device using graphite as a positive electrode material and a metal oxide such as titanium dioxide as a negative electrode material has a large electric capacity (see Patent Document 1).
- an anatase type titanium dioxide is used as a negative electrode material, thereby obtaining an electricity storage device having a particularly large electric capacity.
- An object of the present invention is to impart even higher capacity and excellent cycle characteristics in the electricity storage device described in Patent Document 1.
- the present inventors have found that in the electricity storage device, the anatase-type titanium dioxide can be obtained by a specific method and the cycle characteristics can be improved.
- the present invention has been completed.
- the present invention is an electricity storage device including a positive electrode material containing graphite, a negative electrode material containing titanium dioxide, and an electrolyte solution, wherein the titanium dioxide coats a hydrous oxide of a metal excluding titanium on the surface of the hydrous titanium oxide. And an anatase-type titanium dioxide obtained by heat treatment.
- the electricity storage device of the present invention has a large electric capacity, excellent cycle characteristics, and uses titanium dioxide as a negative electrode material, so that the cost is low.
- Example 4 is a graph showing cycle characteristics of the electricity storage device (sample A) obtained in Example 1.
- 6 is a graph showing cycle characteristics of an electricity storage device (sample C) obtained in Comparative Example 1.
- 6 is a graph showing cycle characteristics of an electricity storage device (sample D) obtained in Comparative Example 2.
- An electricity storage device of the present invention is an electricity storage device comprising a positive electrode material containing graphite, a negative electrode material containing titanium dioxide, and an electrolyte solution, wherein the titanium dioxide has a hydrous oxide of metal excluding titanium on the surface of the hydrous titanium oxide.
- Anatase-type titanium dioxide obtained by heat treatment after coating. Since anatase type titanium dioxide has high conductivity, it is advantageous to use it for an electricity storage device having a large electric capacity.
- the decrease in battery capacity due to charging / discharging of lithium batteries is said to be due to repeated expansion and contraction due to insertion / desorption of lithium ions, which places a load on the structure of the electrode active material, It is considered that the higher the crystallinity, the less the load is applied. Therefore, in order to provide an electricity storage device having a large electric capacity and excellent cycle characteristics, it is considered preferable to use anatase type titanium dioxide having high crystallinity. Anatase-type titanium dioxide is obtained by heat-treating hydrous titanium oxide at an appropriate temperature, and the higher the thermal history, the higher the crystallinity.
- the thermal history becomes too high, it is converted to a rutile type, and there is a problem that it is difficult to obtain anatase type titanium dioxide having desired high crystallinity.
- the present inventors made it difficult for the anatase type to be converted to the rutile type even when subjected to a high thermal history by the coating of the hydrous oxide, and the hydrous titanium oxide was sufficiently heat-treated, and anatase having excellent crystallinity. It is presumed that type titanium dioxide has been obtained. Further, unlike the coating of anatase-type titanium oxide, the coating of a metal other than titanium with hydrous titanium oxide does not surprisingly adversely affect the characteristics of the electricity storage device.
- the hydrous titanium oxide used in the present invention is a compound including titanium hydroxide in addition to the usual titanium oxide hydrate.
- These hydrous titanium oxides for example, pulverize titanium-containing ores such as illuminite ore and titanium slag as required, react titanium components with sulfuric acid while dissolving them in sulfuric acid, and titanyl sulfate (TiOSO 4 ). After producing, standing classification, and filtration, it is obtained by hydrolyzing titanyl sulfate with heating.
- the hydrous oxide covering hydrous titanium is not particularly limited as long as it is other than hydrous titanium, such as hydrous silicon, hydrous aluminum, hydrous zirconium, hydrous tin, hydrous antimony, hydrous zinc, etc. Is mentioned.
- hydrous oxide selected from these may be coated, two or more kinds of hydrous oxides may be laminated and coated, or two or more kinds of hydrous oxides may be mixed and coated.
- hydrous silicon oxide is preferable because it has a high effect of improving cycle characteristics, and dense hydrous silicon oxide is more preferable.
- the coating amount of the hydrous oxide is equivalent to that of hydrous titanium oxide in terms of TiO 2 (for example, SiO 2 in terms of hydrous silicon, Al 2 O 3 in the case of aluminum hydrous, hydrous zirconium oxide) ZrO 2 for hydrous tin, SnO 2 for hydrous tin oxide, Sb 2 O 3 for hydrous antimony, ZnO for hydrous zinc, etc.) and preferably 30 to 30% by weight. If the coating amount is less than the above range, sufficient effect of improving the cycle characteristics cannot be obtained. If the coating amount is large, the content of titanium dioxide in the electrode decreases and the electric capacity decreases. A more preferable range of the coating amount is 0.05 to 10% by weight, and more preferably 0.1 to 5% by weight.
- hydrous titanium oxide is dispersed in a medium such as water to form a slurry, and wet pulverized as necessary. Then, a solution of a metal salt contained in the desired hydrous oxide is added to the slurry.
- the neutralization reaction can be performed by adding an acidic compound or a basic compound, or by simultaneously adding a solution of a metal salt and an acidic compound or a basic compound.
- metal salt that can be used in the present invention, for example, as a silicon salt, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, etc., as an aluminum salt, sodium aluminate, aluminum sulfate, aluminum nitrate, etc., aluminum chloride, Zirconium salts include zirconium sulfate, zirconium nitrate, zirconium chloride, zirconium oxychloride, etc., tin salts include tin sulfate, tin nitrate, tin acetate, tin oxychloride, etc., and antimony salts include antimony chloride and antimony sulfate.
- zinc salt zinc sulfate and the like can be mentioned.
- acidic compounds include inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, and organic acids such as acetic acid, and basic compounds include alkali metals or alkaline earth metals such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and sodium carbonate. Known compounds such as hydroxides or carbonates, ammonium compounds such as ammonia, and amines can be used. After coating the hydrated oxide, it is preferably dehydrated, washed and subjected to heat treatment.
- the coating method is to coat titanium dioxide with dense hydrous silicon as described in JP-A-53-33228, JP-A-7-8971, etc.
- a known method can be applied.
- the pH of the slurry is preferably adjusted to be in the range of 9 to 10.5. After the rapid addition of sodium acid, it is neutralized at a pH in the range of 9 to 10.5 and then maintained at a temperature in the range of 80 to 100 ° C. for 50 to 60 minutes.
- the temperature of the heat treatment is preferably in the range of 800 ° C. or higher and lower than 1000 ° C. When the temperature is lower than the above range, dehydration of hydrous titanium oxide does not proceed and it is difficult to produce anatase-type titanium dioxide.
- a preferable heating temperature range is 800 to 980 ° C. Since the heat treatment time varies depending on the amount of treatment, it is appropriately set, but about 1 to 20 hours is appropriate for operation.
- known ones such as a fluidized bed apparatus, a rotary kiln, a tunnel kiln can be used, and a rotary kiln is particularly preferable.
- dry pulverization may be performed by a known method, or after slurrying, wet pulverization, dehydration, drying, and dry pulverization may be performed.
- wet grinding vertical sand mill, horizontal sand mill, etc., for drying, band type heater, batch type heater, etc., for dry grinding, hammer mill, pin mill etc. impact crusher, crusher etc. grinding crusher, jet Equipment such as an air pulverizer such as a mill or a spray dryer can be used.
- Titanium dioxide obtained by the above method has an anatase type crystal structure, and its particle shape is an isotropic shape such as a spherical shape or a polyhedron shape, an anisotropic shape such as a rod shape, a fiber shape, or a flake shape.
- it has the coating layer of the anhydrous oxide by the heat processing of the coating of the metal hydrous oxide except titanium. After the heat treatment, the surface may be further coated with an inorganic compound such as a metal hydrated oxide or phosphate, or an organic compound such as a surfactant or a coupling agent, as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
- the obtained titanium dioxide can be granulated into secondary particles by spray drying or the like. If the specific surface area (according to the BET method) of titanium dioxide is in the range of 5 to 500 m 2 / g, the electric capacity is further increased, and it is more preferable to be in the range of 5 to 350 m 2 / g.
- graphite refers to graphite having d (002) in the range of 0.335 to 0.344 nm determined from the peak position of the X-ray diffraction 002 plane.
- graphite having a specific surface area (according to the BET method) in the range of 0.5 to 300 m 2 / g is preferably used, and more preferably in the range of 5 to 100 m 2 / g.
- an electrolytic solution for immersing the positive electrode and the negative electrode for example, a solution obtained by dissolving a solute in a non-aqueous solvent can be used.
- Anions acting in the electrolyte include tetrafluoroborate ion (BF 4 ⁇ ), hexafluorophosphate ion (PF 6 ⁇ ), perchlorate ion (ClO 4 ⁇ ), and arsenic hexafluoride (AsF).
