Abstract

【課題】多光子吸収過程により屈折率が変化する記録層を積層方向に複数有する多層記録媒体において、記録再生用のレーザ光を奥部側の記録層に円滑かつ効率的に導くことができ、且つ、各記録層に対するサーボ信号の信頼性を高めることができるようにする。 【解決手段】光ディスク10中に、サーボ層13、6つのスペース層14および5つの記録層15からなる組が4段配されている。サーボ層13は、サーボ用レーザ光に対する反射率が高く、記録用レーザ光と再生用レーザ光に対する反射率が低い材料にて形成されている。サーボ層と、これと組になる記録層が積層方向に大きく離間しないため、各記録層に対するサーボ信号の信頼性を高く維持できる。また、サーボ層は上記材料から構成されているため、サーボ層によって生じる記録および再生用のレーザ光の減衰が抑制される。
