Abstract

 耐久性に優れ高い輝度を有する青色の蛍光体を、特に電子線で高輝度に発光する青色の蛍光体を提供する。本発明は、AlN結晶、AlNポリタイプ結晶またはAlN固溶体結晶の結晶構造を持つ無機結晶を含む蛍光体であって、無機結晶には少なくともユーロピウムが固溶しており、無機結晶中の酸素量が0.4質量%以下であり、蛍光体に励起源を照射することにより、2価のユーロピウムイオン由来の蛍光を発光することを特徴とする蛍光体を提供する。このとき、所定の金属元素およびケイ素が含まれるとより好ましい。また、このような蛍光体を製造する方法を提供する。さらに、このような青色の蛍光体を含む照明器具を提供する。
