Abstract
【解決手段】本発明は、AlN結晶、AlNポリタイプ結晶、または、AlN固溶体結晶の結晶構造を持つ無機結晶を含む蛍光体であって、前記無機結晶には少なくとも2価のユーロピウムが固溶しており、前記無機結晶中の酸素量が0.4質量%以下であり、前記無機結晶は、組成式EuaAbAlcSidOeNfCg(ただし、AはMg、Ca、Sr、Ba、ZnおよびCdからなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素。式中、a+b+c+d+e+f+g=1とする)で示され、これらが所定の範囲に属する。このような蛍光体を製造する方法を提供すると共に、このような蛍光体を用いた照明器具等を提供する。

酸素量が低下すると、発光中心となるEuイオン周りの環境が変化して、発光波長が低波長化して青色としての色純度が向上する。本発明の蛍光体の代表的な色度としては、発光色がCIE色度座標上の(x,y)値で、0 ≦ x ≦0.15、0.05≦ y ≦0.1の値の範囲となる色純度に優れた青色蛍光体が得られる。酸素含有量が0.4質量%を越えるとこの効果は少ない。
原料粉末は、平均粒径0.5μm、酸素含有量0.93重量%、α型含有量92%の窒化ケイ素粉末(宇部興産製SN−E10グレード)、比表面積3.3m2/g、酸素含有量0.85%の窒化アルミニウム粉末(トクヤマ製Fグレード)、および純度99.9%の酸化ユーロピウム粉末(信越化学製)を用いた。
原料粉末は、平均粒径0.5μm、酸素含有量0.93重量%、α型含有量92%の窒化ケイ素粉末(宇部興産製SN−E10グレード)、比表面積3.3m2/g、酸素含有量0.85%の窒化アルミニウム粉末(トクヤマ製Fグレード)、および純度99.9%の酸化ユーロピウム粉末(信越化学製)を用いた。
原料粉末は、平均粒径0.5μm、酸素含有量0.93重量%、α型含有量92%の窒化ケイ素粉末(宇部興産製SN−E10グレード)、比表面積3.3m2/g、酸素含有量0.85%の窒化アルミニウム粉末(トクヤマ製Fグレード)、純度99.99%の酸化亜鉛粉末(高純度化学製試薬級)、および純度99.9%の酸化ユーロピウム粉末(信越化学製)を用いた。
実施例1において、1950℃での保持時間を4時間に短縮させた以外は同一であるため説明を省略する。
原料粉末は、平均粒径0.5μmの炭化ケイ素粉末(住友大阪セメント製)、比表面積3.3m2/g、酸素含有量0.85%の窒化アルミニウム粉末(トクヤマ製Fグレード)、および、純度99.9%の酸化ユーロピウム粉末(信越化学製)を用いた。
得られた粉末に、波長365nmの光を発するランプで照射した結果、青色に発光することを確認した。
次に、本発明の窒化物からなる蛍光体を用いた照明器具について説明する。図7に、照明器具としての白色LEDの概略構造図を示す。本発明の窒化物からなる蛍光体およびその他の蛍光体を含む混合物蛍光体1と、発光素子として380nmの近紫外LEDチップ2を用いる。本発明の実施例1の蛍光体と、Ca0.75Eu0.25Si8.625A13.375O1.125N14.875の組成を持つCa−α−サイアロン:Euの黄色蛍光体とを樹脂層6に分散させた混合物蛍光体1をLEDチップ2上にかぶせた構造とし、容器7の中に配置する。導電性端子3、4に電流を流すと、ワイヤーボンド5を介して電流がLEDチップ2に供給され、380nmの光を発し、この光で黄色蛍光体および青色蛍光体の混合物蛍光体1が励起されてそれぞれ黄色および青色の光を発し、黄色および青色が混合されて白色の光を発する照明器具として機能する。この照明器具は、発光効率が高い特徴がある。
図7を参照して、上記配合とは異なる配合設計によって作製した照明器具を示す。先ず、発光素子として380nmの紫外LEDチップ2を用い、本発明の実施例1の蛍光体と、特許文献3の実施例1に記載の緑色蛍光体(β−サイアロン:Eu)と特許文献6の実施例1に記載の赤色蛍光体(CaSiAlN3:Eu)とを樹脂層6に分散させて混合物蛍光体1として紫外LEDチップ2上にかぶせた構造とする。導電性端子3、4に電流を流すと、LEDチップ2は380nmの光を発し、この光で青色蛍光体と緑色蛍光体と赤色蛍光体とが励起されて青、緑、赤色の光を発し、これらの蛍光体からの光が混合されて白色の光を発する照明器具として機能する。
次に、本発明の窒化物蛍光体を用いた画像表示装置の設計例について説明する。図8は、画像表示装置としてのプラズマディスプレイパネルの原理的概略図である。赤色蛍光体(Y(PV)O4:Eu)8と緑色蛍光体(Zn2SiO4:Mn)9と本発明の実施例1の青色蛍光体10とがそれぞれのセル11、12、13の内面に塗布されている。電極14、15、16、17に通電するとセル中でXe放電により真空紫外線が発生し、これにより蛍光体が励起されて、赤、緑、青の可視光を発し、この光が保護層20、誘電体層19、ガラス基板22を介して外側から観察され、画像表示として機能する。
図9は、画像表示装置としてのフィールドエミッションディスプレイパネルの原理的概略図である。本発明の実施例1の青色蛍光体56が陽極53の内面に塗布されている。陰極52とゲート54との間に電圧をかけることにより、エミッタ55から電子57が放出される。電子は陽極53と陰極52との電圧により加速されて、蛍光体56に衝突して蛍光体56が発光する。全体はガラス51で保護されている。図は、1つのエミッタと1つの蛍光体からなる1つの発光セルを示したが、実際には青色の他に、緑色、赤色のセルが多数配置されて多彩な色を発色するディスプレイが構成される。緑色や赤色のセルに用いられる蛍光体に関しては特に指定しないが、低速の電子線で高い輝度を発するものを用いるとよい。

- AlN結晶、AlNポリタイプ結晶、または、AlN固溶体結晶の結晶構造を持つ無機結晶を含む蛍光体であって、前記無機結晶には少なくとも2価のユーロピウムが固溶しており、前記無機結晶中の酸素量が0.4質量%以下であり、
前記無機結晶は、組成式EuaAbAlcSidOeNfCg(ただし、AはMg、Ca、Sr、Ba、ZnおよびCdからなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素。式中、a+b+c+d+e+f+g=1とする)で示され、

- 前記AlNポリタイプ結晶が、Al(O、N)4四面体骨格からなる層とEuを含む骨格からなる層とから構成されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の蛍光体。
- 前記無機結晶が、AlN結晶またはAlNポリタイプ結晶と、SiC結晶との固溶体結晶であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の蛍光体。
- 前記蛍光体は、励起源の照射により430nmから480nmの範囲の波長にピークを持つ青色光を発光することを特徴とする、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の蛍光体。
- 前記蛍光体は、励起源の照射により465nm以下の範囲の波長にピークを持つ青色光を発光することを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の蛍光体。
- 請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載する蛍光体の製造方法であって、ユーロピウムと、アルミニウムと、必要に応じてケイ素と、必要に応じてA(ただし、AはMg、Ca、Sr、Ba、ZnおよびCdからなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素)とを含有する原料混合物を、窒素雰囲気中において、15×102℃以上25×102℃以下の温度範囲で、酸素含有量が0.03質量%以上0.4質量%以下となるまで焼成することを特徴とする、蛍光体の製造方法。
- ユーロピウムの金属、酸化物、炭酸塩、窒化物、フッ化物、塩化物、酸窒化物またはそれらの組合せと、窒化アルミニウムと、必要に応じて窒化ケイ素と、必要に応じてAの金属、酸化物、炭酸塩、窒化物、フッ化物、塩化物、酸窒化物またはそれらの組合せ(ただし、AはMg、Ca、Sr、Ba、ZnおよびCdからなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素)とを含有する原料混合物を、相対嵩密度40%以下の充填率に保持した状態で容器に充填した後に、0.1MPa以上100MPa以下の窒素雰囲気中において、15×102℃以上25×102℃以下の温度範囲で焼成することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の蛍光体の製造方法。
- 前記原料混合物にさらに炭化ケイ素または炭素を含有する化合物を添加することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の蛍光体の製造方法。
- 請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載する蛍光体を用いた照明器具であって、前記蛍光体の励起源として、330〜420nmの波長の光を発する発光光源を有することを特徴とする照明器具。
- 前記発光光源はLEDまたはLDであって、前記蛍光体の他に、330〜420nmの励起光により520nm〜550nmの波長に発光ピークを持つ緑色蛍光体と、330〜420nmの励起光により600nm〜700nmの波長に発光ピークを持つ赤色蛍光体とを有することを特徴とする、請求項10に記載の照明器具。
- 前記発光光源はLEDまたはLDであって、前記蛍光体の他には、330〜420nmの励起光により550nm〜600nmの波長に発光ピークを持つ黄色蛍光体を有することを特徴とする、請求項10または11に記載の照明器具。
- 前記緑色蛍光体がEuを付活したβ型サイアロン蛍光体であり、前記赤色蛍光体がEuを付活したCaAlSiN3蛍光体であることを特徴とする、請求項11に記載の照明器具。
- 前記黄色蛍光体がEuを付活したα型サイアロン蛍光体であることを特徴とする、請求項12に記載の照明器具。
- 請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載する蛍光体を表示素子として用いた画像表示装置であって、前記蛍光体を発光させる励起源を有することを特徴とする画像表示装置。
- 前記画像表示装置は、蛍光表示管(VFD)、フィールドエミッションディスプレイ(FEDまたはSED)または陰極線管(CRT)のいずれかであり、前記励起源が加速電圧10V以上30kV以下の電子線であることを特徴とする、請求項15に記載の画像表示装置。
