Definitions
- the present invention refers to a safety barrier for vehicle traffic lanes, which has been conceived and realized for determine a shock-absorbing system, that is to say, of great damping power against impacts of vehicles, whether of cars or motorcycles, and in a preferential and special way for motorcycle occupants, based on the protective element located at a certain height of the floor, is tubular, rounded and made of plastic material, such as polyethylene, incorporating transverse damping means between said protective elements and vertical ground anchor posts.
- the object of the invention is to provide a safety or protection barrier, capable of effectively absorbing impacts and thereby reducing the effects of the impacts themselves, thereby increasing the safety of people.
- the safety barrier is applicable in pantalanes, vehicle traffic lanes, speed circuits, etc., as well as in any other practical case in which its use is feasible, to reduce the effects of possible impacts, mainly those suffered by motorcyclists. . BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
- the traffic routes of vehicles incorporate in certain sections of the same, protection or safety barriers that try to prevent vehicles from leaving the road under certain circumstances, to avoid situations of danger, either for the driver and occupants of the vehicle, or for other vehicles that circulate on parallel roads, or for pedestrians or people who are close to the own vehicle traffic lane, etc.
- the safety or protection elements of a barrier are usually made up of corrugated profiles linked in parallel with each other by screws, profiles that are metallic and very rigid, with a cutting edge, which can cause serious damage (cuts, mutilations, etc.) in people, when they impact against such profiles and against the cutting edge of them.
- the invention relates precisely to a protection or safety barrier that solves the aforementioned problems, notably diminishing the effects of possible impacts as a consequence of the fact that the barrier has been made to greatly absorb the impacts, in addition to all the components of it lack edges.
- the barrier in question has as a first characteristic of novelty that the protective element or profile subject to vertical posts in double "T", instead of being a wavy and rigid metal profile, is a rounded tubular element of plastic material, preferably polyethylene, with a high degree of flexibility and elasticity, being highly resistant to shock, almost unbreakable.
- Said protective element will have any rounded tubular configuration, preferably tending to a cross section in "8", being able to be manufactured in any size, length and color, although its height will correspond approximately to that of the conventionally used corrugated metal profiles.
- Said tubular protective elements of the barrier of the invention will be supported between double “T” posts or the like with the protective envelope, spaced 8 meters apart, that is, double distancing from what is currently established, so as to avoid a possible buckling or arching of the tubular elements, the provision of intermediate feet between the double "T" posts has been provided, whose feet are supported on the ground by means of a piece that makes it possible to regulate the height of the foot and achieve adaptability to a possible irregularity from the ground, always keeping the tubular elements of the barrier horizontal.
- Such support feet will be movable in the event of an impact, being able to incorporate lower support wheels to facilitate movement.
- each bolt is determined by two parts joined together by a silemblock located below the protective tubular element, thereby avoiding stiffness in case of lateral impact, since in this case the bolt is it will deform through the referred silemblock, subsequently recovering its position of verticality or straightness once the impact has ceased.
- a damping means such as a powerful spring, between the tubular or protective element and each support post, so that any impact will produce a displacement of the protective tubular element in against the damping means, also moving the intermediate support foot, which will cause an absorption of the impact itself and consequently a decrease in the effects produced by said impact, especially in people or occupants of motorcycles that suffer accidents and collide against the barrier.
- the tubular protective elements can be linked together in order to achieve the required length in each case.
- One way of joining the tubular elements together can be by heat welding between their opposite ends.
- connection can be by electrofusion, with the interposition of an internal bushing of complementary configuration to that of the tubular elements to be joined, which bushing is arranged in correspondence with the internal part of the two ends to be joined.
- the connection can also be made using screws or rivets, with the interposition of overlapping plates in the joining areas.
- the tubular elements can be telescopically joined, with internal springs anchored between two fixed points, one of each tubular element, thus joining both tubular elements with the possibility of lengthening in case of impact, recovering its resting position by means of internal springs.
- the means of cushioning between tubular or protective elements and vertical posts can be placed in boxes embedded in the ground, supporting the damper or spring on the post itself, behind it, which allows the pole to move backwards together with the tubular element or protector, when an impact occurs.
- the damping elements located between the vertical posts and the tubular elements can also be combined with the dampers located in the boxes embedded in the ground, that is, a damping means above and another damping means below.
- the barrier constituted in the manner described has a series of advantages over conventional ones, the most important being the following: - It is possible to absorb or absorb the impact, and therefore reduce the effects produced by said impact of a vehicle, over everything of a person, since the tubular or protective elements are movable, even the anchor posts.
- Figure 1. Shows a perspective view of the tubular element object of the invention attached to the double "T" post, with the interposition of a damping medium materialized in a powerful spring.
- Figure 2. Shows a perspective view of several sections of tubular or protective elements joined together and supported by the vertical feet, with the transverse interposition of the damping springs.
- FIG. 3 Shows a perspective detail of the tubular element of the invention attached to the double "T" post with the interposition of a damping means, in this case embedded in the ground.
- Figure 4. Shows a perspective view of a portion of a tubular or protective element incorporating the two damping means represented in the previous figures, that is to say a powerful upper spring and a subsequent spring embedded in the ground.
- Figure 5. It shows a detail in perspective of how to fix two tubular or protective elements together, by means of an internal bushing, the union being made by electrofusion.
- Figure 6. It shows another alternative way of realizing the union of two protective tubular elements, in this case by means of heat welding.
- Figure 7. It shows another perspective view of a third way of being able to join the tubular or protective elements, in this case by means of rivets or screws with the interposition of a plate arranged on the joining area of both tubular elements.
- Figure 8. Shows a longitudinal section view of a telescopic joint of two tubular elements, with the arrangement of internal springs by means of which the position of those tubular elements is recovered. when they move telescopically in the direction of elongation before an impact.
- the protection or safety barrier object of the invention is constituted by tubular elements 1 of plastic material, preferably polyethylene, without discarding any other type of appropriate material, and whose tubular configuration can also be any as long as it is rounded, although a "8" shape has been represented in the figures, giving element 1 a great damping or shock absorption power, due to its elasticity and flexibility.
- Said tubular elements 1 constituting the protectors of the safety barrier which can also be correlatively linked to each other in many different ways as will be established later, are supported on vertical posts 2 for ground anchoring, which are metallic and cross-sectional in double "T", with the particular feature that between the tubular element 1 and the posts 2 are arranged as many transverse damping means 3 constituted by powerful springs that remain high with respect to the ground, although as shown in Figure 3 there may be springs 3 'anchored in the ground, that is to say housed in a cavity or box 4 embedded in the ground, all in such a way that in the first case when the tubular element 1 receives an impact, it is displaced against the damping spring 3, while in the second case when the tubular element 1 receives an impact, its displacement occurs together with the post 2, in co ntra of the thrust that the recessed spring is constantly exerting on the ground 3 '.
- Posts 2 will preferably be located with a distance of 8 meters, contrary to what traditionally occurs where those posts are usually located 4 meters, with the consequent advantages that this entails, with those posts 2 being foreseen, although they have not been represented , they will be complemented with enveloping protection means devoid of sharp edges, which may be constituted by portions of plastic tubes or of any other nature, and even envelopes of elastic material, such as rubber, cork, etc., in order to prevent a motorcyclist that hits those posts 2, suffers damage from serious injuries such as amputations, etc.
- the support base 7, as said, is adjustable to allow a greater or lesser height of the vertical foot 6 itself to be carried out and thus adapt to the irregularities of the terrain.
- the correlative union of the tubular elements 1 constituting the protective means of the barrier it can be carried out by electrofusion with the intervention of a bushing 11 of complementary configuration to that of the tubular elements 1, as shown in Figure 5, housed that bushing 11 inside the elements 1, corresponding to the joint zone, to establish the solidarity with each other by means of electric welding or electrofusion, while in figure 6 a joint 13 is shown by heat welding between the facing edges of the two elements 1 to be joined, seeing in figure 7 another connection by means of screws or rivets 12, with the interposition of a plate 14 in the area of union of the two elements 1.
- FIG 8 a telescopic coupling is shown between two tubular elements 1, one of which has a section 1 'that is housed inside the other, with the particularity that internally some r esortes 15 between two transverse and fixed elements 16 belonging to both tubular elements 1 coupled to each other, so that before an impact there will be an extensibility of the elements 1 by virtue of their telescopic coupling, recovering their original position by the force of the springs 15 anchored at fixed points, specifically between the pins 16 of those tubular elements 1, this arrangement or assembly in closed curves and other similar applications being particularly useful.
