技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、低騒音空気入りタイヤに関し、さらに詳しくは、空洞共鳴現象による騒音 を効果的に低減するようにした低騒音空気入りタイヤに関する。
背景技術
[0002] タイヤ騒音を発生させる原因の一つにタイヤ空洞部に充填された空気の振動によ る空洞共鳴音がある。この空洞共鳴音は、車両走行時に路面と接地するタイヤのトレ ッド部が路面の凹凸によって振動し、この振動がタイヤ空洞部内の空気を振動させる ことによって生じる。この空洞共鳴音の中で騒音として聞こえる音の周波数は、タイヤ サイズにより異なる力 一般に 200— 300Hz付近であることが知られている。したがつ て、この周波数域の騒音レベルを低下させることがタイヤ騒音を低減するのに重要で める。
[0003] このような空洞共鳴現象による騒音を低減する手法として、タイヤ空洞部内に吸音 材を付加して共鳴音を吸収することが提案されている(例えば、特許文献 1参照)。し 力、しながら、吸音材の特性に対する検討が充分行なわれていないため、必ずしも良 好な騒音の低減が達成されているとはいえな力、つた。

発明の開示
[0004] 本発明の目的は、吸音材の特性を生かすことにより効率のよい騒音低減効果が得 られるようにした低騒音空気入りタイヤを提供することにある。
[0005] 上記目的を達成するための本発明の低騒音空気入りタイヤは、見掛け密度が 10— 70kg/m3の多孔質材料からなる少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材をタイヤ周方向に所定 の間隔を隔てて弾性固定バンドによりタイヤ空洞部に面するトレッド部の内周面に複 数装着したことを特徴とする。
[0006] 上述した本発明によれば、帯状吸音材を多孔質材料から構成し、その多孔質材料 の密度を適切に設定すると共に、これを複数個トレッド部の内周面に間隔を隔てて弾 性固定バンドにより装着したので、帯状吸音材の多孔質材料による効果的な吸音に カロえて、帯状吸音材を周方向に間欠的に配置したことにより共鳴周波数を変化させ たことによる低減効果が相乗されて、大幅な空洞共鳴音の低減を図ることができる。 図面の簡単な説明

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0008] 以下、本発明の実施の形態について添付の図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。
各図において共通する構成要素には同一の符合を付し、重複する説明を省略する。 [0009] 図 1において、空気入りタイヤ Tは、トレッド部 1と、左右のビード部 2と、これらトレッド 部 1とビード部 2とを互いに連接する左右のサイドウォール部 3を備えている。タイヤ内 側には空気を充填するための空洞部 4を有している。 Rは空気入りタイヤ Τに装着し たリムである。なお、図示せぬが、タイヤ内部には左右のビード部 2間に延在する力 一カス層が設けられている。トレッド部 1のカーカス層外周側には複数のベルト層が 設けられている。左右のビード部 2にはビードコアがそれぞれ埋設され、カーカス層 の両端部がビードコアの周りにタイヤ内側から外側に折り返されている。
[0010] 空洞部 4に面するトレッド部 1の内周面 laには、図 2に示すように、 1層の帯状吸音 材 5がタイヤ周方向に所定の間隔を隔てて弾性固定バンド 6により複数(図では 2つ) 圧着するように装着されている。帯状吸音材 5fお IS iapanese Industrial Stand ard) K6400に規定される見掛け密度が 10 70kg/m3の多孔質材料からなり、弾 性固定バンド 6は高引張り弾性率を有する合成樹脂からなる。
[0011] 帯状吸音材 5の見掛け密度が 70kg/m3を超えると、孔部が占める体積の減少に より吸音性能を効果的に発揮することが難しくなり、かつ重量の増加を招く。帯状吸 音材 5の見掛け密度が 10kg/m3より小さいと、多孔構造の孔部が占める割合が大き すぎて良好な吸音性能が得られ難くなる。好ましくは、見掛け密度を 15— 40kg/m3 にするのがよい。
[0012] トレッド部 1の内周面 laに装着される帯状吸音材 5の数及びタイヤ周方向の配置間 隔は特に限定されるものではないが、騒音を効率よく低減させる観点から、帯状吸音 材 5の総長手方向長さを内周面 laの全周長の 30%以上にするのが好ましい。上限 値としては、断面積変化による低減効果の点から 80%以下にするのがよい。より好ま しくは、 40 60%にするのがよレ、。また、周上における帯状吸音材 5の配置は、重量 のバランスを保つことを考慮して、周上に均等な長さの帯状吸音材 5を均等な間隔で 配置するとよい。
[0013] このように、帯状吸音材 5の密度を特定な範囲に設定すると共に、これをトレッド部 1 の内周面 laに間隔を隔てて配置したので、吸音材 5による吸音効果とタイヤ周方向 の断面積変化に基づく共鳴周波数の変化による低減効果とが相乗して、空洞共鳴 音を大幅に低減することができる。さらに、これら複数の帯状吸音材 5を弾性固定バ ンド 6の弾性力を利用してトレッド部 1の内周面 laに圧着しているので、簡単には離 脱しないように安定した状態に装着することができる。
[0014] また、帯状吸音材 5及び弾性固定バンド 6は、加硫工程を経たタイヤ Tに対して後 力 装着するものであるので、タイヤやリムの生産設備等を変更する必要がなぐ既 存のタイヤに対して適用することができる。更に、帯状吸音材 5及び弾性固定バンド 6 は、タイヤ Tのトレッド部 1の内周面 laに装着されるので、リム組み時の作業の障害と なることもない。
[0015] 上記帯状吸音材 5を構成する多孔質材料は、発泡樹脂が好ましぐ特に低密度の ポリウレタンフォームがタイヤ内圧により圧縮変形しにくい耐性を有するので好ましい 。発泡樹脂を発泡させた発泡体の気泡の形態は、隣接する気泡同士が連通する連 続気泡が好ましい。また、帯状吸音材 5は、発泡樹脂に代えて、不織布や織布などか ら構成してもよレ、。
[0016] 帯状吸音材 5は、周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率が 10%以上となるように構成する の力 空洞共鳴音を効果的に吸音する上でよい。この吸音率は高ければ高いほどよ ぐ上限値は特に限定されないが、現在の技術水準で作製できるものは 20%程度で ある。なお、本発明で言う吸音率は、 JIS A1405に定義される吸音率である。
[0017] 帯状吸音材 5の厚さ Aとしては、 5— 50mmにするのがよい。帯状吸音材 5の厚さ A が 50mmより大きいと、帯状吸音材 5が厚くなり過ぎるため、タイヤ接地時に作用する 繰り返し変形により破損し易くなる。帯状吸音材 5の厚さ Aが 5mmより小さいと、薄く なり過ぎるため、騒音低減効果を十分に発揮できなくなり、更にタイヤ接地時に作用 する繰り返し変形により破損が発生し易くなる。好ましくは、帯状吸音材 5の厚さ Aを 1 0— 30mmにするのがよレ、。
[0018] また、弾性固定バンド 6を構成する材料としては、ポリプロピレン樹脂などの合成樹 脂を好ましく使用することができる。ポリプロピレン樹脂を使用する場合、ポリプロピレ ン樹脂の曲げ弾性率が 1100— 1800MPaの範囲にあるものを好ましく用いることが できる。曲げ弾性率が l lOOMPaより小さいと、弾性が小さくなり過ぎて、弾性固定バ ンド 6が弾性バントとしての機能を十分に発揮することが難しくなる。曲げ弾性率が 18 OOMPaを超えると、剛性が高くなり過ぎて、弾性固定バンド 6がタイヤ接地時の変形 に追従することができないため、破損し易くなり、耐久性が低下する。より好ましくは、 曲げ弾性率を 1300— 1700MPaにするの力 Sよい。なお、ここで言う曲げ弾性率は、 ASTM (AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIAL) D790に規定される曲げ弾性率の試験方法により求めるものである。
[0019] 弾性固定バンド 6の幅 Wgとしては、 10 30mmの範囲にするのが好ましぐこの範 囲の中で帯状吸音材 5の剛性に応じて適宜決めるのがよい。弾性固定バンド 6の幅 Wg力 SlOmmより小さレ、と、弾性固定バンド 6の強度が不足する。弾性固定バンド 6の 幅 Wgが 30mmより大きいと、重量が増加するため、好ましくない。
[0020] 弾性固定バンド 6の厚さ uとしては、 0. 5-2. Ommにするのが好ましレ、。弾性固定 バンド 6の厚さ u力 5mm未満であると、弾性固定バンド 6の強度が不足する。弾性 固定バンド 6の厚さ uが 2. 0mmを超えると、曲げ剛性が高くなりすぎて、破損し易くな る。より好ましくは、弾性固定バンド 6の厚さ uを 0. 75-1. 5mmにするのがよい。
[0021] 図 2では、帯状吸音材 5の内周面 5aに弾性固定バンド 6を配置し、弾性固定バンド
6により帯状吸音材 5をトレッド部 1の内周面 laに圧接するように装着されている場合 を示すが、図 3に示すように、帯状吸音材 5の外周面 5bに弾性固定バンド 6を配置し て、帯状吸音材 5をトレッド部 1の内周面 laに取り付けるようにしてもよい。弾性固定 バンド 6は、帯状吸音材 5に接着剤等により固定するようにして取り付けるのがよい。
[0022] また、図 2に示すように、弾性固定バンド 6の長手方向の両端部を連結部材 8により 連結させることにより、帯状吸音材 5をトレッド部 1の内周面 laに装着するのが好まし レ、。連結部材 8により連結する弾性固定バンド 6の周長が可変であることから、多種類 の空気入りタイヤに対して共通の帯状吸音材 5及び弾性固定バンド 6を使用すること 力 Sできる。当然のことながら、弾性固定バンド 6は、連結部材 8を使用せずに、タイヤ サイズに応じた長さを有する環状体に形成してもよい。
[0023] 帯状吸音材 5の内周面 5aには、表面積を増加させて吸音効果を高めるために多数 の凹凸を形成するのが好ましい。その凹凸面の形状は特に限定されるものではなぐ 例えば、図 4一図 8に示すような凹凸面にすることができる。
[0024] 図 4は、平坦状の内周面 5aに、凹部 9を長手方向及び幅方向に所定の間隔で形成 して凹凸面を形成したものである。図 5は、平坦状の内周面 5aに凸部 10を長手方向 及び幅方向に所定の間隔で形成して凹凸面を形成している。図 6は、平坦状の内周 面 5aに長手方向に延在する凸部 11を幅方向に所定の間隔で形成して凹凸面を形 成したものである。図 7は、平坦状の内周面 5aに幅方向に延在する凸部 12を長手方 向に所定の間隔で形成して凹凸面を形成している。図 8は、平坦状の内周面 5aに凸 部 13を長手方向及び幅方向に所定の間隔で形成すると共に、隣り合う列の凸部 13 を互いにずらして配置して凹凸面を形成したものである。
[0025] このように内周面 5aに凹部あるいは凸部を形成する場合、凹凸差、即ち凹部の深 さあるいは凸部の高さは、それぞれ 20mm以下にするのがよレ、。凹部の深さあるいは 凸部の高さが 20mmを超えると、加工が煩雑になるため好ましくなレ、。
[0026] 図 4一 8では、帯状吸音材の内周面 5aに凹部あるいは凸部を設けるようにしたが、 平坦状の内周面 5aに凹部と凸部を混在させるようにしてもよい。
[0027] 上記実施形態では、 1層の帯状吸音材 5を設けたが、図 9に示すように、複数層の 帯状吸音材を設けるようにしたもよい。図 9では、 2層の帯状吸音材 14, 15からなる 帯状吸音体 16が設けられている。トレッド部 1の内周面 laに接する外側帯状吸音材 14は、上述した帯状吸音材 5と同様に構成され、空洞共鳴音を吸収するようになって いる。外側帯状吸音材 14の内周側に積層した内側帯状吸音材 15は、外側帯状吸 音材 14と吸音特性の異なる多孔質材料力 構成してある。このように吸音特性の異 なる内側帯状吸音材 15を設けることにより、空洞共鳴音以外のタイヤ騒音に対する 吸音効果も発揮することが可能になる。
[0028] 内側帯状吸音材 15としては、例えば、周波数 1kHzにおける吸音率が 40%以上と なる多孔質材料から構成することができる。これにより、 800Hz— 2kHzの範囲のタイ ャ騒音を効果的に改善することができる。この吸音率も高ければ高いほどよぐその 上限値は特に限定されないが、現在の技術水準で作製できるものは 60%程度であ る。
[0029] 内側帯状吸音材 15は、図 9では、空洞部 4に露出する内周面 15aを平坦状にした 力 図 10に示すように、内周面 15aを凹凸状に形成してもよい。
[0030] 内側帯状吸音材 15の見掛け密度も、帯状吸音材 5と同様に 10— 70kgZm3にす るのがよレ、。内側帯状吸音材 15を構成する多孔質材料としても、帯状吸音材 5と同 様に、ポリウレタンフォームなどの発泡樹脂を好ましく用いることができる。内側帯状 吸音材 15の孔部の大きさや弾性率などを適宜調整することにより、周波数 1kHzに おける吸音率が 40%以上となる内側帯状吸音材 15を形成することができる。
[0031] 図 9, 10に示すように、外側帯状吸音材 14と内側帯状吸音材 15を設けた場合、外 側帯状吸音材 14の厚さ Aと内側帯状吸音材 15の厚さ Bをそれぞれ 5 45mmの範 囲にし、かつ外側帯状吸音材 14と内側帯状吸音材 15の合計の厚さが 50mmを超え なレ、ようにするのがよレ、。外側帯状吸音材 14の厚さ A及び内側帯状吸音材 15の厚 さ Bが 5mm未満では、騒音低減効果を十分に発揮できなくなる。合計の厚さが 50m mを超えると、帯状吸音体 16が厚くなり過ぎるため、タイヤ接地時に作用する繰り返 し変形により破損し易くなる。
[0032] 帯状吸音体 16は、上述した構成に代えて、内側帯状吸音材 15を空洞共鳴音を吸 収するように構成し、外側帯状吸音材 14を内側帯状吸音材 15と吸音特性の異なる 多孔質材料力 構成するようにしてもよぐ帯状吸音材 14, 15のいずれか一方を、周 波数 200Hzにおける吸音率が 10%以上となるように構成し、空洞共鳴音を吸収する ようにすればよい。
[0033] また、帯状吸音体 16は、内側帯状吸音材 15の周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率を 1 0%以上にして、 200— 300Hzの周波数を効果的に吸音するようにする一方、外側 帯状吸音材 14を内側帯状吸音材 15よりも引張り強度の高い多孔質材料力 構成す るようにしてもよレ、。トレッド部 1の内周面 laに接する外側帯状吸音材 14は、内周面 1 aに対して繰り返し擦られるため、引張り強度の高いものを使用することにより、帯状 吸音体 16の寿命を長くすることができる。
[0034] このような積層構造の帯状吸音体 16には、図 11一 13に示すようにして、弾性固定 バンド 6を取り付けることができる。図 11は弾性固定バンド 6を内側帯状吸音材 15の 内周面 15aに取り付け、図 12は弾性固定バンド 6を外側帯状吸音材 14と内側帯状 吸音材 15の間に配置し、図 13は弾性固定バンド 6を外側帯状吸音材 14の外周面 1 4bに固定したものである。なお、図 11一 13では、内側帯状吸音材 15の内周面 15a を凹凸状に形成した帯状吸音体 16を例示したが、内側帯状吸音材 15の内周面 15a を平坦状にいた帯状吸音体 16も同様にすることができる。 [0035] 図 14は、更に別の帯状吸音体の例を示す。この帯状吸音体 17は、上述した帯状 吸音材 5と同様に構成され、空洞共鳴音を吸収する 1層の第 1帯状吸音材 18と、この 第 1帯状吸音材 18全体を被覆するようにして 1層の第 2帯状吸音材 19を設けるように したものである。第 2帯状吸音材 19は、上述した外側帯状吸音材 14と同様に、第 1 帯状吸音材 18と吸収特性が異なるように構成されている。
[0036] 第 1帯状吸音材 18の内周面 18aに接する第 2帯状吸音材 19の内層部 19Xに第 1 帯状吸音材 18とタイヤ空洞部 4を連通する複数の孔 Sが形成されている。タイヤ空洞 部 4からの音響エネルギーが孔 Sを介して第 1帯状吸音材 18内に取り込まれ、吸音さ れるようにしている。
[0037] 帯状吸音体 17は、図 15に示すように、第 1帯状吸音材 18の外側に、第 1帯状吸音 材 18の長手方向一方側面 18cのみをタイヤ空洞部 4に露出するようにして上記第 2 帯状吸音材 19を設けるようにしてもよい。この図 15の帯状吸音体 17は、その長手方 向長さ mを装着されるトレッド部 1の内周面 laの全周長の約 25%にし、図 16に示す ように、タイヤ空洞部 4に露出する第 1帯状吸音材 18の長手方向一方側面 18cを一 方側に揃えて対向する位置にそれぞれ 1つ配置するのが好ましい。これにより、片端 が開いた有底筒状体に形成される第 2帯状吸音材 19の長さと空洞共鳴音の波長の 1/4周期の長さとが接近し、これが共鳴型の吸音器として機能するため、さらに空洞 共鳴音の吸音効果を増大することができる。
[0038] 図 14, 15に示す帯状吸音体 17も、第 1帯状吸音材 18と第 2帯状吸音材 19の厚さ をそれぞれ 5— 45mmの範囲にし、かつ第 1帯状吸音材 19と第 2帯状吸音材 19の 厚さを合計した帯状吸音体 17の厚さが 50mmを超えないようにするのがよい。
実施例
[0039] タイヤサイズ 205/65R15の空気入りタイヤにおいて、帯状吸音材がない従来タイ ャと、トレッド部の内周面に表 1のように見掛け密度を異ならせた帯状吸音材を図 2の ように装着した本発明タイヤ 1一 5及び比較タイヤ 1, 2とをそれぞれ各 4本製作した。
[0040] 各 4本の試験タイヤの帯状吸音材にはウレタンフォームを使用した。また、弾性固 定バンドにはポリプロピレン樹脂を使用し、その幅は 20mm、厚さは 1. Ommである。
[0041] これら各 4本の試験タイヤを以下に示す試験方法により、騒音性能の評価試験を行 つたところ、表 1に示す結果を得た。
騒音性能
各 4本の試験タイヤをリムサイズ 15 X 6 1/2JJのホイールに組み付け、空気圧を 220 kPaとして排気量 2500ccの乗用車に装着し、車室内の運転席窓側耳の位置にマイ クロフオンを設置した。粗い路面を速度 50km/hで乗用車を走行させた時の周波数 200— 300Hzの帯域における車内騒音をマイクロフォンにより測定し、その結果を従 来タイヤを 100とする指数値で示した。この値が小さいほど騒音性能が優れている。 なお、指数値が 85以下の範囲が、官能評価において騒音が顕著に改善されるレべ ルである。

[0043] 表 1より、本発明タイヤは、周波数 200 300Hzの帯域での空洞共鳴音が低減し、 騒音性能を改善できることがわかる。また、帯状吸音材の見掛け密度を 15 40kg/ m3の範囲にすることにより、騒音性能を一層改善できることがわかる。
産業上の利用可能性
[0044] 上述した優れた効果を有する本発明は、車両に装着する低騒音空気入りタイヤとし て、極めて有効に利用することができる。

Claims

請求の範囲
[I] 見掛け密度が 10 70kg/m3の多孔質材料力もなる少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材 をタイヤ周方向に所定の間隔を隔てて弾性固定バンドによりタイヤ空洞部に面するト レッド部の内周面に複数装着した低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[2] トレッド部の内周面に装着された複数の帯状吸音材の総長手方向長さがトレッド部 の内周面の全周長の 30%以上である請求項 1に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[3] 少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材が 1層の帯状吸音材からなり、該帯状吸音材の厚さが 5 一 50mmである請求項 1または 2に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[4] 帯状吸音材の内周面を凹凸面に形成した請求項 3に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ
[5] 凹凸面の凹凸差が 20mm以下である請求項 4に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。

[7] 少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材が 2層の帯状吸音材からなり、各帯状吸音材の厚さを それぞれ 5— 45mmの範囲にし、かつ 2層の帯状吸音材の合計の厚さを 50mm以下 にした請求項 1または 2に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[8] 2層の帯状吸音材のいずれか一方の帯状吸音材の周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率 が 10%以上である請求項 7に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[9] 他方の帯状吸音材の周波数 1kHzにおける吸音率が 40%以上である請求項 8に 記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[10] 2層の帯状吸音材の内、トレッド部の内周面に接する外側帯状吸音材が該外側帯 状吸音材の内周側に積層される内側帯状吸音材よりも引張り強度の高い多孔質材 料から構成され、内側帯状吸音材の周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率が 10%以上であ る請求項 7に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
[II] 少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材が、周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率が 10%以上の第 1 帯状吸音材と、該第 1帯状吸音材全体を被覆する、第 1帯状吸音材と吸収特性の異 なる第 2帯状吸音材とから構成され、第 2帯状吸音材の内層部に第 1帯状吸音材とタ ィャ空洞部とを連通する複数の孔を形成した請求項 1または 2に記載の低騒音空気 入りタイヤ。
[12] 少なくとも 1層の帯状吸音材が、周波数 200Hzにおける吸音率が 10%以上の第 1 帯状吸音材と、該第 1帯状吸音材をその長手方向一方側面のみがタイヤ空洞部に 露出するように被覆した、第 1帯状吸音材と吸収特性の異なる第 2帯状吸音材とから なる請求項 1または 2に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。

[16] 弾性固定バンドが、曲げ弾性率 1100— 1800MPaのポリプロピレン樹脂力 なる 請求項 15に記載の低騒音空気入りタイヤ。
