To all whom it may concern.

lie it known that We, GEORGE W. COPE and WILLIAM L. BER'I'RAM, citizens of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of \Vaync and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cooking Stoves or Ranges, of which the following is a specification.

Our new and original design for cooking stoves and ranges is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a side View of a stove ornamented with our design, and Fig. 2 is a front view of the same.

The leading and characteristic features of our design are the surface ornamentation of the skirtingand legs which constitute the base of the stove, of the large oven-door, of the front and end doors to the lire-chamber, and of the stove-plates, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

A feature of ornamentation in the design which appears in different forms of execution in different parts of the design is the reniform or kidney-shaped ornament, which we have designated a, and another feature is the ruflie b, which is likewise executed with differences of detail in its various parts.

The side panel 2 of the skirting is formed with three reniform ornaments or bosses at, the central one being crossed by a leaf-like or foliated ornament, while the ruffle 1) extends across the top of the panel. The front panel 3 has two ornaments o. and the ruffle. The logs are formed with the circular bosses a,

which are a characteristic feature of this part of the design.

The ru file feature of the design as it appears on the oven-door 4 is arranged near the margin thereof, so as to constitute a border for a central panel. Reniform and foliated ornamentation is employed to heighten the artistic effect.

The end door 5 to the fire-chamber has a boldly-executed double reniforin ornament (1 and surrounding rull'ie ornamentation.

The front door 6 to the lire-chamber, arranged above the ash-receptacle, has the characteristic rcniform ornaments a, the openings for the slide-damper being through suchshaped ornamental features of the design. The hinge and the free or swinging ends of this door are ornamented as represented in Fig. 2.

The stoveplates 7, between the doors 5 and 6, are ornamented with a design in eonsonanec with the designs upon the door.
