UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
MARY TURNER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE BUTTERICK PUBLISHING COMPANY, (LIMITED,) OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A LADYS POLONAISE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,885, dated N0vember'15, 1887.
Application filed October 15, 1887. Serial No. 252,491. Term of patent 3& years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY TURNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern of a Ladys Polonaise Costume; and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns a clear understanding of how a garment made up by the pattern will appear.
The design shows a long polonaise and a round walking'skirt. The skirt exhibits a back drapery that falls in straight kilt-folds at the center to the lower edge. The polonaise displays close'fitting fronts that flare sharply at little below the waist-line, falling in long panels to the edge of the skirt and exhibiting two draping plaits in the back edges near each hip. A close-fitting back that reveals the back drapery to the top between its back edges exhibits a coat-plait below the waist-line of each side back seam, falls even with the lower edge of the skirt, and flares from the fronts below the draping plaits in the latter, eoatsleeves, and a standing collar.
\Vhat I claim as myinvention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a ladys polonaise costume, as shown in the engraved prints accompanying this specification.
MARY TURNER.
