DESIGN FOR A LADYS COSTUME.
FJPECIPICATION forming part of Design No. 15.564. dated November 18, 1884.

Be it known that 1, JOHN QUINCY REED, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern of a Ladys Costume, (numbered 9,438;) and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns a clear understanding of how egnrment made up by the pattern will appear.
The design shows a round walking-skirt and un overdress. The skirt exhibits two plain lower front-draperies extending nearly to the bottom of the skirt and flaring over the eenter of the front; a deep upper front-drapery displaying a shirring at its center draping pleits in its back edges, and a wide graduated revers on each half of its lower edge. The overdress exhibits closely fitted basque- Term of patent 3 years.
fronts outlining a deep point at the lower end of the closing and a high arch over the hips; a cioselyfitted polonaisehack, which shows a high draping on the outside over the lower part of the center body-seem, draping plnits high up in the front edges of its drapery, and looping at the center of its drapery; a standing collar, and coat-sleeves that display their wrists reversed in cutis flaring (it the back edges, and a gathering and a high roll at the shoulder.
