Be it known that I, SARAH JANE Snrms, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern ofa Ladys Costume, (numbered 9,1S9;) and I do hereby declare that the engraved prints accompanying this specification convey to any one accustomed to using paper patterns a clear understanding of how a garment made up by the pattern will appear.

The design shows a round walking-skirt and an overdress. The skirt displays a deep lower front drapery falling in draped points at the lower part, and an upper front drapery displaying shirrings at the center and back edges. The overdress exhibits short polonaisefronts with buttons extending to below the Waistliue and displaying shirrings in their front and hack edges, aelosely-Iitted polonaiseback exhibiting under-folded plaits at the lower ends of its iniddlethree seams, drapiugplaits in its t'ront edges and loopings at the center, coat-sleeves reversed at the wrists in l Cuffs, and a standing collar.
